Why do we have to see your face? Why do we have to hear you say I got to move your face? WHY? Can’t you show your face at the beginning of the video, then get on with the teaching. Love your ideas, but there are way to many distractions. Please don’t take this personally. You have great info.
Ive been trying to model the border but only have vcarve pro and not aspire upgrade.
Is there a way for me to follow your method for text on text with pro only.
I agree it should be simple.
Ty
Can you make this same model, with the dome shaped letters and clip art in V Carve Pro or do you need Aspire?
I don't have those modeling tools in V-carve dektop.
I have created a stacked text sign in v carve pro with an stl component. I want the last name text and stl component at the same height. How do I go about creating this toolpath? Can you help me out?
The biggest reason Vectric and others show the normal method for stacked text is not everyone has Aspire. If you have Pro or Desktop, you don't have the option to do all the modeling.
ebay sell it for $40 must be on sale
@@tiberiud1955 Those are ripped/generated licenses, but claiming they are selling old licenses. They tell you not to register the license with Vectric, and it's because of that, not the excuse they give. Shady software theft. No one would sell their used Aspire license for under $40.
OK, this changes EVERYTHING ... as long at the modeling you did is compliant with V-Carve Pro, and I think it is! I've been fighting the group and weld thing for what seems like forever. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!
You have very quickly became one of my favorite channel to watch. I used your video to get the vcarve pro and it works great. Now I'm learning how to use the program. Keep up the awesome content!
That's freaking awesome Matthew. Thanks so much for the awesome comment buddy 👊
Hey I am enjoying the videos since I about to upgrade to aspire. Can you explain or show how you did the different colors on that finished piece. Did you just meticulously hand stain them or what?
This is what I was also wondering indeed. The logical answer would be yes, they are individually stained / painted / etc. But another way would maybe be to start with laminated sheets of wood in different colours, and then base the heights of each block of text on the base and the height of the color you want that to be in. Sounds a lot more complicated and difficult to achieve though to me, so I guess stain and / or paint is the way to go
You are also my favorite, it was very educational. I will continue to follow you. greetings from Holland
Thanks so much for the awesome comment Harry, and welcome to the channel!!!
thanks sir you are doing great.
just have one question could you make one video, about how to make sub-crown with mitre tool. thanks
I subscribed to the channel. I thought that might give me an eMail for contact. NOT!
I think this is a really excellent way to do Text-on-Text - MUCH better than using Layers!!
I milled my sign without the shovel and even then it was screwed up big time. It seems like the bottom text is being carved first and wiping out areas where I KNOW there should be Top Text. My settings are - Bottom text 'Shape 0.15' and 'Base 0.15. Top Text 'Shape 0.30' and 'Base 0.30'. Those settings get my text showing properly and with the top of the material. So, if the text is showing properly in the 3D view WHY would it not be milling properly?
Maybe remove the video of yourself once you get going. Other than that good video. I am wanting to do this so watching tutorials before I get started.
Thanks for this!
😁
OK, I watched your video again this morning with a fresh outlook, and I was able to design something very similar, I added a couple of 3D clip art images, and I added some text on the image, but I'm having a difficult time getting them to carve in the image. I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out for this problem I'm having. Thanks again. Great Video.
like what you are doin, but the question is, most of us cant afford a 2 thousand dollar program like aspire, we all know it should on be 300 at the most.
I think I've got the text portion set up O.K., however, how do you make separate tool path for clip art? I have a sign that I have embedded a shovel in and I do see it if I select ALL for my tool path but I want that to be separate to use a ball nose bit on.
I would definitely appreciate a comment back about how to do that.
Cool way to do it, but you need Aspire. Can't do it in VCarve. Thanks for the explanation.
I watched your video and I have to say to you Thank you. You did simplified things that I was trying to do. but welding fonts and all.
I'm going to design it again tomorrow for more practice and try to carve it out by the weekend. Thanks. I did subscribe by the way.
I was just thinking to myself the other day ... I wish my tool guy could teach me text over text .... real nice like style...
Very nice instruction! Thank you very much!!! By the way we were born on the same day Im just a few years older.
That's awesome. Just a tip, blue arrow on top of drawing and toolpaths will transfer you to other so they don't keep closing on you. Just fyi you probably already knew that .
Thanks. I have been trying with no luck. This makes it simple.
Yo TRZ by day, MT by night! What's the wood cnc you use? You may have mentioned it before but I forgot. I lazy and dont want to go through all the past vids, soooo if you could hook a brother up I would greatly appreciate it.
Haha, FAMOUS AMOS! Absolutely bro... I use the Shapeoko XXL CNC Machine buddy
Why do we have to look at your face and a time clock boring..
Thanks for these videos. I decided to get Aspire after watching them. Kinda like the dice idea..marriage is always a gamble!!
I cannot thank you enough. I am new to Vcarve. I have spent a week trying to figure out how to do something similar. Ultimately, I was successful, but it's sort of a dirty, time-consuming method using layers.
This way is so much faster and easier, I knew it was out there, just took me a minute to find your video. Huge thx. Subbed & liked.
As long as there are no 3D objects to machine and just squared off text, the other way will machine much faster using simple pocketing toolpaths and produce a better result. In this example, you could use pocket toolpaths on the upper text because it is squared off and use a 3D toolpath on the lower text and heart. I would make all the text squared off which would just leave a small 3D toolpath on the heart. You could even put a chamfer on the text with a V bit, all without the time consuming 3D toolpaths.
No point in saving an hour of design time to add two hours of machine time.
Or add an outline around the text to use as a boundary for the 3D carve toolpath. No need to let your ballnose bit mill the entire surface where it's already flattened by the endmill.
Thank you very informative. I will try this step by step.
My husband and I are just getting into our Shapeoko XXL and one of the first things I wanted to make was a stacked text sign. I watched a view views and everything was so confusing. Until your video. I realized that we didn’t have the same Vectric software that you were using so I downloaded the Aspire trial and was able to follow along and had one made in about 30 mins (not bad for following a 22min video). My problem now is running the code. Since I can’t save the Gcode on the trial I went to see about getting Aspire and couldn’t get past the price. We’re just beginners and I would have to bring in some serious cash before talking more about dropping that kind of money. Is there any chance you know an easier way to make it on the Vcarve Pro software? I haven’t had any luck with following along to any of the videos that I’ve watched but I’m still trying to watch one video a day, when I can, in between kids and housekeeping. Thanks for the video!
Very nice work explaining that method, that's awesome. Like Matthew I got aspir from ebay, now got to try it out. Have been using vcp10, but somewhat limited, Now it's going to get intersting. Thank you.
Thanks for a great tutorial. I was able to follow along and create a sign. However, I was hoping that once I had the file set up, it would be a simple matter to just change the text from one sign to the next. But I am not able to figure out how to do this. Can you explain the process if I want to come back in later and change, for example, the word SUBSCRIBE, to something else?
Just getting started into home CNC and purchased an XXL Ooznest cnc from the UK and after watching some of your vids you explain things a lot more simply than other will be looking over all your vids for hints and tips thanks
Nice video. It´s a long time since i played with Vectric. But starting to do a Dart Cabinet and you inspired me fore a design thanks. Just one thing minimize the D... Recording window. And keep on doing these videos. Thanks Bro
Like you I watched the vetric version and lost a whole day trying to get it right so I just have to say THANKS heaps for this easy version to create the same thing that did my head in recently. Off to carve it now and see how it turns out. Cheers.
would it work for other shapes other than a rectangle? I am attempting to follow along using a bitmap of a star that I need as the base with no luck.
An interesting way to do text on text. How long did it take to carve this sign...or one using modeling? I don't think most folks make text on text signs use modeling to create their signs.
Depending on feeds and speeds and materials your look at just carving around 5 hours at best
@@makerstube2986 Wouldn't it carve alot faster if you created an outline around the text for the finishing pass to limit the software to only process the area around the text instead of the entire workpiece? As right now, your ballnose bit will also cover the entire flat areas around the text.
Wow that was great! Now just to remember it, doesn't seem difficult. I was doing one raised text with a vee carve 2nd text over top the raised text and never used Modeling. So much nicer with modeling feature.
Grazie ! Davvero un bel video utile per imparare.
That was so simplified compared to the Vectric tutorials. Can or do you have any where you actually take it to the machine and cut it out also? I have only seen on video like that and it was so helpful also. Thanks
Please show your finished products. Love the videos man, just want to know if when you carve these you notice any mistakes or corrections.
well thats much easier than layers
This is Exactly what I have been looking for!!! Love the ball nose round over effect. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you so much! This helped loads. Great tutorial!
So True, It Doesn’t Have To Be That Hard....Keep Making Videos!
Can you do this without a ball nose end mill and just a flat end mill?? I want to try it but I gotta order some ball end mills.
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR
Hey, I appreciate the video, thanks. As soon as you chose to round over the one set of text did need to use the 1/8” ball nose for the entire sign?
Got a lot out of this video. Thanks for putting it together. What process are you using to paint of finish these stacked text projects? Thanks!!
nice find re; technique to combine lettering. Just got to figure out how to use aspire to its full cnc routing potential , Karl W
Nicely done! I appreciate the breakdown
Awesome, I’ve been struggling to figure this out, now I’ve got it. Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks man helped alot
Thank you so much. Keep it simple.
This is how I make mine as well! but the other (harder) way you mention is because they want to use a flat tip engraving bit instead of doing a 3D carve - I guess it's supposed to take less time but I was never able to get it to look very good at all myself so love the 3D carve method better - thanks for sharing!
Ahhhhhh got it. Thanks for the info bro👊
The 2D pocketing takes far less time and will give you smoother results since it is tracing the letters vs stepping over them, which can give you artifacts at the base of the letters. Longer setup time, but pays off in the end with faster milling and less cleanup.
I like this method way better than all the other ones as you pointed out. thanks a bunch
Thanks, great job - just used to make an oval shaped box top. Worked great!
Very helpful! Thank you
My letters cam out all jagged for some reason.
Dude, this is an absolute game changer for me, so much easier
Great product, thank you for taking the time to explain the details
Being a newbie, this really helps. Excellent tutorial! Thanks!
Thank you much easier than other methods
What a great way to simplify a complicated project.
Does not work in Vcarve Pro.
Awesome video. You did a great job demystifying this technique. Kudos to you. I subscribed and rang the bell.
What technique would you use to finish/stain this to obtain a similar result to the example piece..? Fantastic video.
Thanks
Top.
Thanks so much for this vid. I won't lie, I f'd it up and could not figure out why until I saw you had clicked on material boundary while I had it on model boundary. I am not new to cnc, lifelong gcoder off of prints and new to software. Hope I can pay it forward.
Thanks , I am struggling with text, this video I believe shud help my griefs, thank a bunch
youve earned a SUB my friend, i know what other video you are talking about and this way is so much fucking easier its crazy, thanks so much
Is anyone having trouble with this? I can get every thing looking good till I do the machining part. then it looks terrible.
Am using 1/4" end mill for roughing cut & 1/8" ball ot end for finishing cut. Aspire 10.507 Any Help ???
Awesome, thanks for that
where are you on pintrest and facebook
Very funy Makers Tube, great video and very usefull. Regards man!!! your Subscreibe and your Like
When I carve this file, the outline of my text is rough, but it is also a rough shape that has been created in modelling, my cnc ic cutting exactly what has been drawn. Any help with smoothing this out?
Almost makes it worth upgrading my VC Pro to Aspire..
I like the Idea BUT if you are going to use a V-Bit to clean up this way runs the V-bit threw the whole project. or I am missing something
Its a ball nose bit. If you use it only, it would take forever to carve the sign as it really only uses the tip.
Hey nice video man! Cool seeing another "old" guy leaning like I do...
Thank you sir!!! Great video keep it up!!!!
Thanks Matt!
I gather he’s not into answering anyone’s questions 😕
A good work around I can follow.
He starts telling you what you're hear for at 3:03
Thanks for the easy way
This was helpful...
I have Aspire and you make it simple. That's what counts!
Thanks Howard!!!!
will this work the same way in VC pro?
