- The final boss battle in Crash Bandicoot 2, Cortex Strikes Back. Not as easy as he is in Crash 1, You have to get as close to him as possible & spin him, repeat this two more times & you have beaten him, DON'T LET HIM GET TO THE END OF THE TUNNEL OR YOU WILL DIE & HAVE TO START OVER!!!!!!

Came here to see if I missed something. Just finished the game, beat cortex and my exact thoughts were "right that was the joke part, now for his true form" then rolled the credits. My mouth with still wide open with disbelief. Easiest boss is video game history... AND ITS THE FUCKING LAST BOSS. The first boss was harder
pretty much every boss was harder. its been years since I've played crash 2. i completely forgot of this joke of a fight. its pretty much impossible for you to lose. you would think the bombs would kill you
I feel like the Cortex fights in the first and second game were really easy, but the third game, it was fairly challenging by comparison.
Thematiclly this is correct for cortex but this chase sequence could have been harder and longer.
If you got a bad mouth taste you could search "Metal Cortex" on UA-cam

Though this boss was unbelievably easy. Only real thing that would have you lose it is being so taken by the music that you want to ride it out as long as possible, allowing him to get away, hahaha
They should have at least made the mines kill you.

That evil laugh if he reaches the end is surprisingly chilling, too bad you almost never hear it since that is the only way you can lose and he actually stops if he gets too far ahead of you.

As a kid I struggled with this level every now and then, only to find out that you can just spin into the obstacles and they won't slow you down lol. Nowadays I'm good enough to avoid them though.
This boss is so hard cause when I tried to play this cortex boss is so hard to chase cortex in remake

The music is AWESOME! Too bad the actual fight is a joke. I've only seen TWO people say they where losing lives in this boss, but they didn't find it hard. they where losing lives because they thought you had to do something else.
The first person thought you had to spin the asteroids and make them fly at cortex.
The second person thought you had to race him to the end of the arena.
I don't know anybody who thought this boss was hard.
they really should have fixed this boss in the remake, no one would have disagreed with that change if they just had made it so that Cortex shoots at you or something, maybe some more dangers too like the asteroids actually being dangerous and moving or anything.
This is hard one. Even if i dont hit any rock or mines and i dont slow my movement at all still i cant catch him... Is there some sprint button exist then?

I would prefer that in the remaster Cortex didn't wait for you to come closer and then move, that would be better, and that he used his gun to shoot at you

LOL - yeah the first time I played this (summer of 2001, was 9 at the time) I got a little thrown off by it.... thankfully, I had a handy cheat encyclopedia and looked it up, and voila! Press triangle, ha. Also where I found out about jumping on the polar bear's head to get a few extra lives

Given the context of the fight, of course it was easy. Cortex was running away from you, he doesn’t pull off half of all his dangerous weapons like he usually would in a 1V1

I think this is a rather lame final boss fight, worst boss in the game. I remember beating the game on the PSN and I was very disappointed how this boss fight turned out. I remember renting the Crash games at the video store as a child and I enjoyed them. Years later I finally got original copies for the PS1 and started playing them. The boss fight against Cortex that my brother imagined as a child is still rather silly but superior to this. He imagined it taking place in a warehouse full of big crates, the 25 crystals took up Cortex's "health" my brother imaged Crash punching Cortex, Cortex would scream and drop a crystal with it breaking to pieces. He could be punched multiple times by the way, thus breaking more crystals.Cortex would run for cover some behind the said mentioned crates in the warehouse, occasionally coming out to punch Crash, before going back to take cover. Once Crash had punched Cortex 25 times all crystals would shatter beating the game. I know it's rather silly what my brother imagined but it's still better than what Naughty Dog gave us. The ending I imagined as a child was Cortex dropping all the crystals and he would scream "NOOOOOOOO!!!!!" in slow motion and all 25 crystals would've shattered to pieces. Funny what we imagine as kids.
I imagine the boss fight being Crash inside a spaceship and Cortex outside of the spaceship and Coco was giving you rockets and other projectiles to break the window and shoot Cortex with the lasers. But I imagined it more difficult in my head, because Cortex will be throwing with rockets, bombs, etc. And I thought it would be a good idea to give him much more life to be harder to defeat. By the Way, I'm gonna animate how I imagined the boss fight in my head and post it on the channel, if you wanna check that put
So weird, just finished this on mac (psx rom) and it said 50% right before this end level. I thought this cool game wasn't over yet. But it was. Is it because of the missed boxes en diamonds? Also, this end boss is really really easy.
Personally, I liked the COrtex boss fight in Warped, much harder..

The new crash bandicoot n sanity looks slower than this. This one seems faster and harder to keep up. Boss is easy Just know when to attack him. lol
The whole game is so fucking hard but when you get to Cortex it's so simple they should have made it way harder by letting the mines kill you and him not stopping
The reason why Cortex stops flying when you hit him and when you hit an asteroid or bomb is because he saying to Crash "Come get me bitch!"

@@kingpeedorah I'll add that I found Crash 2 to be the hardest game of the original 3, but it has the easiest Cortex boss. I always had trouble with the jetpack controls back in the day.
