When I was forming the 25-20 cases I noticed there were two types. I was making the repeater cases. It's super cool you have the ss version and were able to share these to see them in action. Those pieces are beautiful and I'll bet a hoot to shoot.
Hello ARM, When I got my first .25-20 rifle I was confused as I wasn't aware that there were two different cartridges with the same name. I almost purchased the incorrect cases and dies, so I wanted to point that out. Both versions of the ..25-20 (and the .22 WCF, another favorite of mine) are great little rounds. ....Doc

A really nice rifle with wonderful wood, this looks like a very nice caliber rifle for just shooting in the garden, my 1885 was in 577 so it was a bit much for doing that. Enjoy your Christmas, and a Happy New Year, many thanks for all of the excellent videos you have posted. Chris B.
Another lovely single shot rifle! I used to have a Winchester like that, also made in the late 1880s. Can't remember the caliber, but I think it was a 32. May even have been a rimfire. Never shot it. The block was cracked, for some reason. Enjoy the rest of the Christmas holiday, and have a Happy New Year!

That is a gorgeous rifle Doc! As you know, I'm a big fan of the .25s. I don't own any scoped rifles. But with my aging eyes, I need to start looking. I'd love to find one like that. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Steve, and Happy New Year, 365 more for happy shooting ! Yes, .25s had a great following back in the day, I guess it's up to you and I to bring them back to the fore-front. The scopes really help my poor eyesight but, I always loved a period scope on the appropriate rifle. The old scopes have their own cherished history with their periodic advances just as the guns themselves. I also find the evolution of the mounts fascinating. Best regards....Doc

Hi Dave, Hope this finds you well, we are doing fine so far this winter. It gets cold but warms up when a storm comes in, so we have been getting a lot of cold rain. 1885s, in all their configurations, sure are an interesting lot. The factory letter says it left the factory with out any sights, so I'm not sure who set it up but they did a good job of it. Both are vintage Lyman's. Best regards.....Doc
