putting Barkov a tier below stanley cup center is kind of wild considering he just won the cup and had Mcdavid not had a record setting playoff he would have won the Smythe. certainly the top end talent isnt there compared to Mcdavid and Mack but he plays a diffrent game and deserves to be up there because he can shut those 2 down.
I was debating it, but that Florida team was stacked and while I think Barkov was a big part of it, I don’t think he carried them all by himself which is why I placed him a bit lower
@@jimmyhockey Even after Cup victories ppls find reasons to underrate Barkov xD Barkov should be on Stanley Cup centers and i can easly find atleast three reasons. 1. If you put Crosby in there now Barkov should be in there now too. How many ppls would take Barkov now before Crosby? 2. Barkov make players better, example Reinhard, Verheage and Huberdeau all played career best hockey in Barkov line/team, i could make list a lot longer too. 3. Its impossible to comprate different type of hockey players or you should give equal value for different streghts and styles. And no Florida wasnt stacked, Edmonton got a lot more points from they fourth and third liners and defenders on finals than FLA. FLA got 6 points from they 3-4 liners and 6 points from D and Bob had 89,9% while EDM got 16 points from 3-4 liners 17 points from D and Skinner had 90,9%
It's almost an objective truth that Barkov is Stanley Cup tier. It's ridiculously insane that he's down with the likes of Proved Nothing Aho, Look At Me Hughes and No Show Pettersson. The justification? "He's not McDavid"??? Yeah, nobody is. But you know what he actually is? He's an 80-90 point guy that elevates everyone around him, leads with integrity and on ice performance, shows up every single game and gave a clinic on how to shut down every other team's top tier center during the playoffs including McDavid. And won the Stanley Cup.
My brother in christ, Eichel and Barkov were the top line centers of the two most recent Stanley Cup champions, and they both beat Connor McDavid head-to-head to do it
This just solidifies my opinion on Barkov even more, dude is a an constant Selke favourite while putting up almost a point per game numbers, wins a cup and still isnt listed as a Stanley cup caliber center. Do you know what other center collected those same opinions trough the 2000s/2010s? Pavel Datsyuk. Barkov is the modern day Datsyuk, always underestimated but still lethal on every single aspect of the game
also just going to point out that its absolutely ridiculous to put Stützle whole 5 tiers lower than Jack Hughes, Stützle has one less season in the NHL and has 47 points less.
Hintz totally belongs in, at least, the Great tier, if not the Top Line tier. He had a slow season last year but not for lack of effort. In the playoffs, we matched up against 3 sub-great goal tenders that had to play their best series in their careers against us. Even if he isn't scoring, he is the main focus of the defenders. For this upcoming season, having Robertson and either Johnston or Segiun is going to make the decision on who to focus on more difficult. With his speed, IQ and a sniper on either side will allow him to open up. And Jack Hughes definitely doesn't belong on the Great tier....yet.
Fair list for everyone except for Bo Horvat. I understand he is not as good as a player as Hintz, but then again you rated Erickson Ek and Mark Schieffle in the same tier who Horvat has shown in his last two season to be a much more valuable player than them. I understand the Islanders aren’t necessarily playoff contenders, but Horvat has now had two straight seasons with over thirty goals as yhe Isles made the playoffs both years
If i were to make that list on Stanley cup top line center tier should include these guys. McDavid, MacKinnon, Barkov, Matthews, Crosby, Draisatl and Jack Hughes.
He’s on the line for being a tier above. I considered placing him a tier higher but he’s not better than every other center in the tier I chose for him, so that’s where I left it
The 24:00 mark features the start of discussion of a claim by Jimmy Hockey (JH) of Mark Scheifele having been a “good“ top-line centre. The 24:20 mark feature to start of discussion of a claim by JH of defence by the Winnipeg Jets having not been great. He’s right although I would say that during the last two playoff series, that defence has been an unmitigated disaster via having allowed, over their last nine relevant games, at least 4 goals, including, over the last 5, at least 5 goals. If that doesn’t ring alarm bells in the front office of that team, I don’t know what will.
I can’t conclude that the list is one of the worst that I have seen; in fact, I agree with Jimmy Hockey’s claims of where he placed various top-line centres of Canada‘s NHL teams.
Brayden Point love! Thank you! 💙 50 Goal scorer, 90+ a few times, arguments for two Conn Smythes! 2x Cup Champs! Thank you, dude! He always gets disrespected!
That’s all regular season stuff, Matthews has to help out more in the playoffs, this video is mainly talking top lines centers and their ability to lead a playoff team, hopefully Matthews will lead the team better than JT but this is a fair spot for him based on that
69 goals, most goals in 30 years by any player including ovi who is considered the greatest goal scorer the game has ever seen, and you’re considering putting matthews in good tier? Wtf are you on
Playoffs matter like I mentioned in the video, Matthews needs to step it up in the postseason, hopefully the captaincy and new defensive changes will help with that
@Jooseppi420 mackinnon, barkov, draisaitl, mcdavid, matthews, eichel, pettersson, Miller, Hintz, point, j. hughes, crosby all come to mind before I even think of Aho. I'm probably even missing guys I can't think of right now.
@Jooseppi420 it wasn't in order of who's best, just listing centers randomly that are better than aho. But I respectfully disagree. Barkov is getting his flowers finally but let's not jump off a cliff. He's not better than Mackinnon.
@@dustinjones1907i love nate but sasha is alot more Well rounded player. But them in corner and im sure sasha comes with puck. Also if we talk bout best centers, how can nate be 2nd best in world, if he aint even center on Canadas olympic team. Dont get me wrong, i love nate but when talking about center job, sasha does it better.
I mean if your a top line center you probably are at least in the good tier, half the league is average or slightly above average so that tier makes the most sense for a lot of guys
Put mckinnon on corner getting puck against barkov or faceoff, i tell you sasha comes 9/10 times with the puck and also wins same amount of faceoffs against mckinnon. I love nate but barkov is miles away better center.

Borth american bias. Like colorado isn't stacked

Barkov still underrated after winning the cup lol

Right? Like he went off on his health and it’s like, the same thing that’s holding Jack back too. But for some reason Stutzle isn’t great

as a flames fan, i think that kadri should be in the stanley cup tier
Respect the fandom🤝
Jack Hughes should be on best tier. He's amazing talent and center. I would say slightly better than Barkov as a overall player.

Pettersson 2nd line

Nice move changing Zach’s to Lindholm. I agree with that move and the choice of good tier
Appreciate it🙏🏻
Robert Thomas belongs in great tier. Guy is a 100 PT guy very soon.
But not yet, when he hits 100 then we can talk about it. Still very good but he is for sure in the same tier as Larkin Hintz etc
12:30 he was literally the 1C as a Stanley Cup finalist in his sophomore season. How the hell didn’t he prove himself in the playoffs ? 😭😂🤦♂️
Larkin deserves better. He’s produced even though he’s been on shit teams
I think he is more than capable of doing it, but I’d like to see him in playoffs before I make a solid prediction
i wouldn’t say carolina has playoff success problems , they have winning eastern conference playoffs round problems.
Well you’re not wrong
Isn’t jt miller the Canucks top line Center
Yeah the person who made this listed Pettersson, either way they are both top line guys
A tip for tier lists: depending on who's/what's better on the tier, most people rank it from left to right, as in best (left) to right (worst)
I like that will use in future episodes🙏🏻
Barkov??? Omg youre a hater
I was with you until you got to Sean Couturier. That guy is done and one of the worst contracts in the entire league.
