personally i think the game mods rigged maple's present to be a garanteed rudolph costume so she will stand out more since they can't win against her in battle so might aswell annoy her in ways she has no idea they were to blame for it
jokes on them, Maple isn't going to use the outfit the way the mods intend

It's great that one of my all-time favorites is back for more absurd craziness. I was rolling when Payne and Maple teamed up for the event, then the next scene showed the admins freaking out wondering what to do. I'm sure the two strongest people in the game working together would scare anyone.
I can't wait to see what level of insane Maple gets up to this time. Between her and Cid from the Eminence in Shadow, Wednesday just got straight up overpowered - at least for the first half of the season until Cid's story finishes up.

But the one thing I can't get out of my head now, before or ever, is Monster Maple acting embarrassed and fidgeting. There's something totally surreal in watching a giant alien-like monstrosity get flustered like that that makes me laugh so damn hard.
Truly, comparing to season 1, Studio Silver Link's CG has gone great ways in quality. It seriously makes me happy and eager to see the return of other series in their catalog, like The Misfit of Demon King Academy, but also hyped like hell to watch Tearmoon Empire later this year.
They are seriously going full throttle this year.
Now, let New World Online begin anew! With Maple as its greatest bug/feature.
The original novel DID have a snowman event that dropped the Christmas presents (it was the fifth event). The anime changed things so the Jungle hunting event (the sixth event) dropped the presents instead. Notice the anime was at four events last season and suddenly jumped to the sixth.
Nothing of value was really lost by cutting the snowman event. It was EXTREMELY short and only really existed for Maple to show off a new skill, which is the anime is probably saving for later.
Maple continues to be Maple. Kasumi's new ability is great, but quite the cost she'll hide until accidently shown to her friends. Have fun Devs, cause you're going into overtime of overtime again.
Finaly, the wait is over. I did rewatch the whole 1st season, just for fun, last week, but new episodes is so much better. And this one was great. Especially Mii, who turnes out to be a great nerd. Although, I did visit a cat cafe in Akihabara, so I understand her completely. Seeing Frederica and Sally go at each other never gets old and the game developers getting panicked when they saw Maple and Payne team up was great. But we finally got to see more of Kasumi who, let's face it, hasen't had much solotime since her introduction, so this was really good. And her getting a sword that turns her into Mai and Yui's little sister was hilarious. Her reaction to "losing" her boobs was fantastic. I love this show.
I'm wondering if they are going to show some character growth for Maple about thinking strategically. I'm going to bet that during a competition Payne is going to use that honey to attempt to debuff Maple so he can kill her. Hopefully she will have thought of it herself and prepared for it, impressing Payne even more. They kinda lampshaded it by having her say "I can't take a piercing attack right now" and him saying "you shouldn't tell people." Payne would definitely try to use it against her in a competition.
I would assume that the animators already know that we already watched it multiple times so they did not bother to introduce everyone again. Cannot wait to see Maple getting new perks this season!
Level 4 is freaking beautiful! This Japanese middle age town in permanent moonlight alone was worth watching the episode.
Paine and Maple were meant to have a challenge in the event. That was another hint that the game is designed to scale with the players' skills. Because if all players got those same monsters, nearly none would have survived. So they weren't really teleported randomly. The game itself carefully decided where to send each player. Same with the rewards. That's a huge difference to actual games where either randomnes or the lack of variety is overwhelming.
I really love Bofuri. There are very few anime about MMO games (or actual MMO games) that value mere fun over grim competition.
I bet that the villian of season 2 is: the remote admin 😆

Ah been waiting for this season once i heard it was coming out. And it already hit the ground running with the silly scenes with Mii and the cats and Kasumi with her little horde of Samurai stuff, that was nice to see, I also want to know how many of those duels Fredrica has tried to have with Sally, it sounds like a lot.
The queen is back! And we got to see all the things except the angelic form.
Woooooo wholesome shield hero has returned. I'm super excited, for more.

One of my most looking forward to sequels ! Maple is awesome and the group is so fun to see. Payne going ham while on her back was great as well. SO much fun to watch. I love all the chars lol.
A great start to a new season of one of my favorite moments. My favorite part was seeing Mii letting her guard down and Maple finding out about it. The chill vibes this series has is wonderful.
I watch the episode before it come out I'm going to rewatch when I get home form work lol. But I'm looking forward to seeing maple make make the developers life hell again and seeing her be OP again without trying.
I'm just curious about what the stats are of that reindeer outfit are. Maple played by the rules and is improving others along the way even if she gets nerfed. i watched the early release and im still happy about both versions.
It is funny,m as much as it was like, more of a next episode sorta thing as you said. On a 2nd rewatch, it did work as a nice recap or here the crew for if some reason you forget season 1. Everyone introduce, more so focus on Sally, Mii and Paine. Same time, friendly riverally, and a little what they Maple tree does and such. All in all, Such a great 1st episode, and can't wait for the next 11, lol
i forgot S2 was coming but i just bought the first season on dvd and watched it so this was perfect timing
Love this series and the increase in animation quality for some of the fight scenes took me by surprise! Really sad that the chat wasn't translated, that was always one of the highlights of the series for me.

Honestly with how well Bofuri is doing I hope Only Sense Online gets an anime please! It's another show just Video Game Slice of Life. But it sadly doesn't even have an official manga release all fan translations which are really solid.
Seems like the guild members should ask Maple to impose some restrictions on herself when they are fighting Bosses. I mean, she herself is the ultimate boss ^_^
the game devs need to claim her as the final boss at this point since ain't nothing a match for her

Oh its so good to be back watching new adventures of Maple and her friends, after three years (literally) its just as charming, adorable and fun as the first season which I dubbed my best anime of 2020, I enjoy this show so much I started to get the light novels and manga! I had to chuckle at the fact you had this massive monster acting all cute and all but blushing when she was talking to Payne.
I love taking a break watching a group of youtubers play video games to watch an anime about a group of friends playing video games

Yeah, I found the early sub and though it was coherent, it was poor quality. Are the Crunchyroll chatroom subs on the screen moving with the text? That'd definitely be an improvement over how they were on Funimation in 2020.
God I love Maple's xenomorph kaiju form. Especially hearing her talk in it. And everyone around her just gazes into the abyss... and rolls with it. This is still one of my favorite comedy anime, I'm so glad it's back!

The only thing that bugs me is the way that "Phantom World" works. This is a VR game, but that spell clones Maple 7 times, and they all act like Maple. How does she control 7 characters at once when she finds it hard to control one Atrocity monster.
Imagine being that Red Shield guy in Maple Tree, as he is in a guild full of little girls. The entire chat segments would be people calling him sus.

My one thing I'd like to ask about the logic of is Kasumi's clothes almost slipping off. Would this game even HAVE something for that? Wouldn't exposed booba (no matter the size) be a bit unreasonable for a game that seems to be ~T for Teen? I'd expect the Fallout treatment instead, where you can wear a Grognak outfit, but when you take it off you're suddenly wearing long-johns or a tube-top/sports bra underneath

Prepare yourself for more power ups, only down side to this episode is that a lot of good character development was lost (that kasumi sword fight is so rushed and maple in that jar are more satisfying in LN and web novel) makes me wish it was handled like Iruma kun everyone gets time to show and shine
