Hurricane Beryl: Cruise ships caught in the storm

- Cruise lines forced to re-route and change itineraries amid category four Hurricane Beryl. According to Stewart Chiron, The Cruise Guy, it is typical during hurricane season that cruise lines have to change plans. Usually, we don’t see impacts this early, but Chiron said the companies are ready to change itineraries at the drop of a hat.

Been through a few and have always just had to switch some ports and were never disappointed in how well the cruise lines handle storms and NOT JUST hurricanes.
Better than being stuck in a land-based resort with nothing left but to end the vacation when bad weather occurs..

People pay for cruise vacations months in advance. There’s no way to predict a hurricane on your vacation.

Hurricane Beryl passed us in Grand Cayman at 5:30am this Thursday morning, about 60 miles south of us, as a Cat 3. We did not lose power or water, not much damage, thankfully. The sea on Seven Mile Beach looked like glass. It was so smooth she passed us at 10:30am. The waves were starting to build, and a lot more rain. Thinking of the others who were deeply affected. Also, us locals call it CAYmaaaannnn, not CayMENS. #cayman #beryl

The cruise ships aren't literally caught in the storm. The title is bad and it's a way to catch your attention.
A Captain does NOT NEED PERMISSION TO PROTECT HIS VESSEL! You're into line needs work. Yes, they'll need permission to use alternate ports, but not to "move off course" for safety. No different from an airline captain.
How , with over a week’s knowledge, does a cruise ship get “trapped” ? It should have sailed out of the storms known path long ago . Procrastination yields to stupidity
