Same here! I wasn't even old enough to be in the club but once I heard this I was on the floor with the funky crowd, lost in a sea of funky waves. Still sounds awesome today 👌
I really like this track, but Hamilton Bohannon himself was a bit of a pain. When he visited Decca Records in the UK (who released this Brunswick track in this territory), he made himself very unpopular with the Marketing Department, insisting on being given milk to drink , then throwing it around. Also, just look at his stage presence on this performance - he looks bored out of his mind, and fails to inject ANY excitement into the track.
Weird story, why would he do such a thing, doubt if it's even true, sound nothing like Hamilton who got the reputation of a kind friendly guy, easy to work with. That's one of the reasons why so many of the great names in music collaborated with him.
Disco back then was all about the dance... loved it...
listen to his tunes when i was 14 back in mid seventies. good vibes
Happy medium downtown Chicago, Ding batts, godfather South side, Mr.Ricks, pervs place, they played this jam every where those were some nice times

First time I ever went to a disco, this blew me away.

So funky bought this when I was 15 and still playing it at 65
Feel that FUNK and see that Soul Train crowd jam hard. Name one current band of today that can jam this hard live and make the crowd jam this hard ?
Ah! If I could only relive those days!
That Doo Doo funk that you have to make the stank face to when you hear it

Chap on the far left is probably the best dancer on the planet, plus the hair, a living deity.

Excellent Hamilton mais son guitariste toujours aussi excentrique.

Copied with Audacity because Kay Julie liked it as our marriage collapsed. My fault.

Oh dear black man throws milk in Decca offices, bet they never got over that.
You sound like he hurt your feelings. No one cares.
