They remind me of brightly colored birds. It reminds me how common it is in nature for the male of the species to be very brightly colored, and perform elaborate dances to attract a mate. The brighter the colors, and the more strong and graceful the dance, the more attractive they are to females. Sadly, in the western world, bright colors and flowers are considered purely feminine. I think it's wonderful that Hawaiians make an effort to stay connected to this bright and masculine tradition. Hula isn't just pretty girls in grass skirts, it's the love language of the Hawaiian people.
It started with the fact it was a brotherhood of warriors preparing for war and as time wore on it became like the inland native rain dance where men and women participated. That's what I heard. That and also you can only train in one store of dance instead of many like the native American style dancers where they can do several styles
Good grief, what a doltish way to degrade & belittle westerners. You got some serious issues, screwy broad. Guarantee, no man wants you bc you're constantly insufferable.
i use to dance for kawailiula way back in the late 70's early 80's our 1st competition was the high school comp in kualoa park. we was the 1st to dance that day and about 30 people watch our performance. we won that day but alot was surprised cause not many so us perform.i knew then that kawailiula would be great. mahalo.
@@frankramirez9204 lol...the thong.or "malo" as we call it, is a long piece of cloth tied around waist, then twisted up between the butt and opened to cover the frontal area. Both ends of the cloths is tucked around waist to create.a.flap.that covers.both sides.. The cloth "wings" to the sides are draped to create the vision. Imust.say its not comfortable. Their is more videos of them using only the malo. Thanks
@@tanyagarcia3721 No not really. If everyone did as you suggest, it would be up to everyone's imagination rather than a solid indication of what they story being told really is.
Honorable Hawaiian male orientated performance visually aspiring body movements with vivid costumes ankle and head crowns depicting life within Hawaiian fauna and flora. Captivating. Handsome healthy men. Thank you for letting me view your lifestyle.

Same here in Ireland. Our men have beer bellies, flabby arms and stretch marks. I bet those Hawaiian guys in video don't spend much time in pubs or lazing on couches, watching football programs, cans of beer in hands and discarded pizza boxes on floors.
Ke Kai o Kahiki is amazing, but they always do the same ka'i and ho'i and their mele is much more simplistic than this halau's. I'd have given it to them.
These dance troupes are always well turned out. The obvious influence of the missionaries to clothe the naked bodies of the natives to conform to Christian modesty, has fared well with the Hawaiians. They have managed to create for themselves a certain flamboyant and colourful style blending in with their traditional dress, of which they can be justly proud. This is also true of the other Polynesian and Melanesian peoples as well. Long live the Merrie Monarch festivals!

Why doesn't this have more likes!?!?! I never thought about this...i like this perspective

I consider the well developed male physique to be the human equivalent to bright colors.
I’m attracted!❤️

I have just one weird question that could be very questionable... Do they use underwear like a thong or something under the indumentary?

I agree. It takes a lot of practice to achieve such a perfect level of synchronicity. I am so impressed with these men.
You can see the passion is their blood.
This is the sexiest form of masculinity in existence to be honest.

Обожаю этих парней, их юбки наверно, как наши сарафаны. Супер!!!
WOW!! Wish I knew what the movements and hand gestures meant as well as the translation of the words chanted. Beautiful!
You can follow along with what the gestures are and figure it out. It's like a picture story book only in dance
