@@belligerentamateurI already have the Orange super crush 100. I’ve bought the Quebec pedal as well for added depth and presence. With already having that amp and pedal would this be any of an upgrade in sound?
Love my OR15. Have had it about 5 years now. One of my favorites in my collection. I’ve played several Gigs through the years with it. Great Amp head even with a 2x12 cab in a band setting. No problem. 👍🏻 Drop C ‘ stuff to.
Whenever i feel like i have to much gear just sitting around and i should sell some stuff, I come look at your background and then dont feel so bad anymore :)
Played this amp a few times at GC and it rips. Totally nails the Iommi ‘Paranoid’ tone. If you like this but want more watts the TH30 is awesome and sounds similar.
@@jarrusjenkins the clean channel on the TH30 is like an oldschool non-master volume amp. If you are able to run it at super high volumes, it breaks up into those old school doomy sabbath type sounds. Loud AF like that thoough lol.
Na. The TH30 has alot of modern fizz. To the point it can be unusable. The OR15 has a boosted crunch and 80s metal tone without the extra junk. The TH30 gets close to the OR tone but you really gotta search for it. I've always found around 1 o'clock to 130 is the sweet spot on the TH30.
I loved this amp for years. Recorded a EP with it and I was surprised how loud it was. Ran it at noon on the gain and dimed treble, mids, and bass. I liked it way more than the Rockerverb.
@@belligerentamateur totally, it’s tighter and definitely has a more “Marshall” sound than any of the other orange amps. Which I like. Great job on your content, your killing it as usual!

Have one and love it - and I've had lots of great amps. Most people focus on the "high gain" sound, thinking mid-scooped and bass-heavy, but this amp leans into the mid-heavy British voicing which keeps it in line with my Laneys, Hiwatts and Marshalls while sounding more "classic" than some of the current versions such as the DSL. I run this amp wiith a volume pedal and, in parallel to a Hiwatt, when I record and that combo pretty much gives me a ton of possibilities.
Another great detailed video Kyle! Seriously that little amp packs a punch! The treble and mids blend together so nicely, especially through the Mesa 🤘🏼🔥
I was looking at one of these, but was confused by the symbols! Your video on the one with the different level knobs really helped out. Thanks for reviewing
I love my OR15. Gets that classic rock Orange sound and the gain just goes more and more from there. It also is so punchy that you'd swear it was 100 watts. I always recommend it. It's on the never sell list.
Owned my OR15 for I believe close to 5-6 years now. Played quite a bit with other amps but I kept going back to my OR15 as they just sound to great. No frills no bs and straight up old school classic British Crunch tone. Pumping up the gain gets that classic Orange sound but this bad boy can cover anything from classic rock to metal. It accepts pedals very nicely too which is always a great plus
Thinking about picking up an OR15. What cabinet do you use for it? And I’m looking to get one amp to use for an extended period of time without having to worry about it. Is it versatile enough?
Galdernit, Kyle! I'm blaming YOU for this! I went and bought one of these OR15 heads! The truth is, I've been wanting an amp with the Orange sound for years. And I thank you for your excellent demo of this amp, because it helped immensely in making the decision on which model to go for. I almost got a Dual Terror on Craigslist, and I'm SO glad I didn't. I found a decent deal on Reverb for the OR15, and went with that. Thankfully, I've got a Fryette Power Station, so if I need to get 50 watts out of the Orange, I can! Anyway, I cannot wait for the amp to get here, and I just wanted to say thanks again for your EXCELLENT videos. I hope you have a great weekend, Kyle, and I look forward to your video tutorial!
I've been really digging my OR15 lately. I've used it to get a good crowbar sludgy sound. It really handles downtuned guitars well I think. Great video.
a great video, as always, Kyle does not disappoint! on the amp, I have the bigger brother, the Dual Dark 50. a super versatile amp, played an acoustic gig with a reverb in the loop and obviously it can do Matt Pike stuff as well. worth a try, really.
Orange amps have always had this thicc dark lower mid thing going on to my ears. Like the antithesis of Marshall amps. This was probably the sickest sounding demo I’ve heard for this amp. Well done 👌
You can easily make a Marshall sound like an Orange or vice/versa. Change a few coupling cap values and you're pretty much there. The thing unique to classic Orange however is the Baxandal tonestack, specifically Oranges with Treble and Bass controls. It's a shelving EQ and reducing the controls on both raises the mids, gain considerably.
I wanted one of these, but second guessed myself and bought a TH30. The TH30 sounds great, but I really missed having a full three band EQ rather than just a shape knob. Bought an OR15 shortly after and I think I might like the little OR15 better lol. They can be dialed in very similarly, but the OR15 is way more flexible. If I dial the Th30 shape knob back for more mids I lose too much high end and if I turn the shape knob clockwise for more treble I the mids get too scooped and the bass can get really intense. So the knob is only really useful from about 10 o'clock to 1 o'clock.
04:12 Thanks for throwing some Classic "Uncle Ted" in there. Most Amp reviews I see get demonstrated with deep, dark, heavy, speed, and thrash style playing. That little bit of "Stranglehold" really helped me tune in to the tone of this little amp and now I'm probably gonna have to buy one. So, thanks for that...😆🤘
In short, it's one of the best and most versatile amp you can get at that price point period, as long as you don't need cleans. It is so so with tubescreamers, like all Orange amps, the SD-1 is probably one of the best match for that amp even if is it based on a tubescreamer since it has less mids and Orange amps have more than enough mids, they don't need more.
I tried this too in a shop in Australia (tried its digital counterparts too in amplitube, its awesome), was like, WOWW what amp is thiss? The feel is so good, its full and fat, great attack, and played so well in low volume for being a tube amp. Its awesome!
i have owned this for about three years and recorded a record with it and 100% can agree i still love it to this day and it does everything from shimmering, literally gorgeous cleans/slightly broken up blues on my strat to to pummelling death metal on my esp's and jacksons
A friend and former bandmate of mine has one of these, and would alternate between it and his 6505 from gig to gig. While they didn’t sound exactly the same, naturally, I can’t say that his tone or volume was lacking in any way with the OR15. I was impressed.
Had the Orange Tiny Terror. They do alot of classic rock np! Then the OR15 came about I'm thinking geez fx loop, does classic rock effortlessly and can get be coaxed into true savagery?! Also tried the Brent Hinds Terror but used the clean channel more for other things. I decided the OR15 was the keeper for madness reasons!
There is a very good reason why I own a Rockerverb 50 MKII, a Dual Dark 100, and a Thunderverb 50. They are all amazing amps that sound like nothing else I have ever heard. And while they all share the similar broad harmonic overtone structure I love about the amps, all three sound quite different. I would love to eventually pick up an OR100 head though. Never tried the OR series in any size.
Good review. Several good 15-20w mini head choices in same price range as the OR15: Hughes & Keitner Tubemeister 20, Peavey 6505 MH20, EVH LBXII, Peavey Invective MH20, Randall RD20. The V30 seems to be the speaker of choice for most 2x12 matching cabinets. Moving into the Marshall SC20, Engl Fireball 25w and Mesa Rectifier 25w will cost you double the price.

Great video I think these OR 15 heads are really killer,Kyle when are you gonna do the review on the Laney Gh100l you got. I’m really digging all the videos you put out.
Hopefully soon man!
I need one of these. It's been on my wish list forever
They're a lot of fun!
@@belligerentamateur how is the volume?
@@clintn6677 depends on cabinet but chances are it will be too loud rather than too quiet. Harder to get it to practice volume than to full club volume.
@Billy Ards awesome. I didn't think about it but I have a fryette powerstation so I would be ok either way.
Dope! So rad to see this on your channel. I freakin love the hell out of mine!
Glad to hear it! I am loving this one as well dude, it's wild!
Great riffing! One of my favorite amps. Your reviews are awesome!
Thank you!
Please if possibble do a side by side A/B comparison of the OR & Jim Root Terror. Another gr8 vid Kyle
This is my buy! Which brand is that black drop. Guitar ??? My goodness
JJ junior. Archon 50 mkii And if you can find one a Bogner Alchemist 40. Always wondered about that one.
Kyle I’ve been really considering buying a thunderverb 200, I’d love to see one on the Chanel if at all possible
Was that title fight there? Anywho do orange amps come with a footswitch? Seems like their tube offerings never include one
Hey Kyle, great video. I like how you structure your videos and enjoy the tones always. You mentioned you have an Orange rockerverb 50. Im thinking about buying this amp for the versatility and built in attenuator. I couldn’t find a video of demoing that amp. Will you make a video for that one as well? Would really appreciate it. Keep the metal coming dude.
is that loud and clear by title fight at 6:50? i absolutely love that band, never knew you were into their stuff too! great video btw!
So would u go for the rocker terror 15 or the OR 15 ?
Good question! I honestly haven't played the Rocker Terror so I can't comment, but this amp is an absolute winner to me
I have an acoustic G20 lead I run a joyo ultimate drive and a Jackson JS12 dinky in Drop C
Hey, I know they're ridiculously expensive for a solid state amp but would you possibly do a review for the Waza Craft head?
