I love the setup of having all the material on a big document. You are fun to watch

Thank you! I am using Miro browser based whiteboard :)

40:00 that’s exactly it. I haven’t read it, mind you, but during the CR live play, they did that. Double severe is 4HP. Great play through!

Oh nice! I haven't watched it yet because I wanted to see how much I could gather from the playtest alone before getting influenced by their way of doing things :)
But nice to hear that they have been thinking about it!

41:00 - I completely agree with the idea that there should be some level of Savage Worlds/Overkilling Rule. It makes no sense that at 5th Level, you can roll 30+ damage and nuke a guard from orbit and he barely loses half of his HP Bar. Takino being able to smash the opponent with his Unstoppable Force feels very solid, especially with how desperate he would be to win. He has to carry all that dead weight from Valanor; the dude was a knife magnet!

haha That's true about Valanor :D But Valanor has some other skills than fighting :p
yeah and I am totally on board even pampering the players that Heroes can have that "damage cap" like personally I don't prefer that, but to deny players the joy to roll high damage when the games mechanics are about rolling many damage dice just feels kinda odd.

I'm not sure if it was in the open beta or not, but I do recall seeing an optional lethality rule where if a damage roll is double the severe threshold, the attack takes 4 HP.
That being said, I think the lowest-level NPCs should not have 5 HP, especially if they're "jagged blade bandits." You just get the same damage-sponge issues that exist with D&D/Pathfinder.

Yeah, that is one aspect that I dont really enjoy in my TTRPGs, like I dont necessarily need the game to be deadly for the characters but there should always be a possibility for consequences even if fighting against "the weakest foe"

The HP Thresholds are a bit weird. I do like the Hope/Fear die mechanic though.

Agreed. And I know not everyone is gonna like it but I kinda like the initiative system as well...at least in solo it works really well.

I like that the thresholds reduce HP bloat and speed up the math of applying damage to my character. Rather than needing to subtract double-digit damage from my double-digit HP like in D&D, I only need to compare the damage to my thresholds and mark 1, 2, or 3 HP boxes.

One thing that I find somewhat disappointing is that HP simply acts as a survivability metric, just like in D&D: as long as the PC has at least 1 HP, they operate at the same level of effectiveness. It seems like the game's design is actively avoiding penalizing a PC's performance, unless it's done through an opponent's ability or by spending Fear. Unfortunately, this continues the tradition of describing HP loss like wounds rather than diminishing determination or stamina. Yes, it's a nitpick, but it's a thing that strains credulity and diminishes my play experience in TTRPGs.

No I totally get that, and I do agree that game which focuses on combat somewhat, it is odd that this very important aspect has been left for the GM and the players to deal with without any mechanical support or reference.

Or course it does, this is still Heroic Fantasy. Injuries that would be debilitating to a normal person get a wince and a one-liner from a Hero.

It's an interesting experiment, but I don't think the system is ideal for solo play. Not for my preferences at least.

Compared to other solo systems, Daggerheart is not the greatest, but definitely it's better to play Solo with vs. DnD5e

Not a fan of this game , I’ll stick with BECMI or Shadowdark

Both really solid choices! Also Tales of Argosa seems to be coming together really nicely 👍
