Great choice! My wife and I bought a Mk4 2021 in Orange Fury. It is an amazing car IMO. Handling is superb, especially on a country road or up a windy mountain road. It's more than fast enough for the street, very easy to loose the licence if you don't keep it under tabs. Not sure which tyres come on it in the UK but the PS4S it came with don't last very long, my only criticism of it. We are in Victoria, Australia and the Michelin's only lasted around 30 000km (18500 Miles). I've changed to Continental SportContact 7's. I find they give a better ride, handle slightly better but not quite as sticky as the PS4S. Only the smallest amount in it though. They are definitely wearing better though from what I have noticed. Enjoy your new ride!
Some great info there, many thanks 👍 You’re right it’s plenty fast enough for daily use and I’m loving the tech, easy and fast to use. The seats are mega comfy and the noises in sport mode 😎 Haven’t tried Race yet, still a bit too cold here in Scotland right now ❄️
@@midlifemotors5050 I'm actually considering an MX-5 haha. The ST is mainly my wife's so I'm wanting something for myself for road and maybe a bit of track. It's stinking hot hear, most days mid 30's sometimes high 30's in 40's. I'd have to have the roof on and A/C blasting. 🥵
Glad this video got recommended, been watching a lot on the Focus ST and have just put down a deposit for a 2020 one. It was a little bit more expensive than I was originally willing to pay (was looking at just the ST-Line originally) but it just seems so fun to drive. The way I look at it is to think about what car I'll get in the future after the Focus, and unfortunately it will probably end up being some hybrid or electric with an automatic gearbox with the way things are going. I think now is a good time to spend a little bit more and get one more fun fast manual.
Great choice, you’ll love it 👍 Tbh I’m still pinching myself, even after 2 weeks. No autos or evs for me yet either, I’m going down fighting for the manual 🤣🤣
My goodness, you weren’t joking 🥲. Well I’ll certainly miss the MX-5 on the channel, and I’m sure you will too. That said, I think you’ll bond big time with that ST. I had a MK7 Fiesta ST as my driving school car for 3 years. Crazy idea in theory (hard ride, recaros that squeezed the breath out of you etc), but my god, it got under my skin. They’re awesome. Congrats!
After 5 years it was definitely time for a change. The Focus just ticket all the boxes for me tbh, felt right from the first moment. The other cars will have to step up and fill the Mazda void for now. Hoping to use the slk much more this year 🤞
Aghh, bittersweet watching this. You & your channel were one of the (many) influential reasons I took the plunge on an MX5 RF recently. Thank you for that! Love it so far. Disappointed to see you've let the MX5 go (it suited you to a T!) But... also happy for you that you've found something you like that fits your needs. Enjoy the ST! Good taste, yet again. 😊
First video i see of you. You got a thumbs up for the "i don't like autmatics". Glad there are more people like us :) Greetz from Holland! Enjoy your nice Focus st!
Morning Neil, hope the damage wasn't too bad from the storm. Nice new car - I was surprised to hear you didn't like the gearbox on the GR Yaris as normally Toyota have pretty decent ones. My only thing with the Focus is it doesn't really look like much for it being a performance car. Not one I'd look back at in a car park if you see what I mean. Then again, they're supposed to be fantastic to drive so I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Shame about the MX-5 though, beautiful looking little car and I reckon you might miss it when the sun makes an appearance.
GR Yaris = great awd system in a terrible car, and I’m a Toyota fanboy 😳 The discreteness of the Focus is a plus for me, happy to ride below the radar day to day. I’ll deffo miss the Mazda but hopefully it’ll encourage me to use the MR2 and SLK more this year 🤞
Looked like genuine sadness Neil at the departure of the MX5 and I know that feeling! They are such unique little cars and like you I suspect I'll return to one in time. Looking forward to seeing the ST journey, I've always had a soft spot for Ford's but that goes all the way back to MK1 and Mk2 Escorts such us the Mexico, RS1600, RS2000 etc. A massive community following for the brand. Hope you and your neighbours missed any significant damage from the storm. Cheers, Kevin.
It was truly a sad day but nothing lasts forever and 5 years is a fair length of time. The Focus just did it for me tbh so looking forward to the journey, I enjoy finding out about the cars, the marque, the owners, some tinkering, etc. A few close friends are ford daft so some blue oval badge content coming this year for sure. Cosworth YB powered MK2 😉
You could be more right than you think. A good fry is looking to move from their early 1.5 to an ND3, asked me if I was interested, what do you think 🤣🤣…watch this space
Congratulations on the new car! However, I predict that on the first sunny summers day you'll realise how much you miss topless motoring. Been there and done that and always gone back.
🤣🤣 Think you’re probably 100% correct. Hopefully that will encourage me to use the slk a bit more this year. Would always just grab the keys to the Mazda.
Imagine having a crash whilst recording to camera. Police will have a field day with the evidence. As one middle age ST driver to another; drive with due care and attention Bro.
@@midlifemotors5050 Just the head gasket to worry about then. I do actually really like the Focus, especially the Mk1 & Mk2 but these EcoBoost engines, wet belt or otherwise, haven't crowned themselves in reliability glory.
There are no reliability concerns. The Eco'boom' engine only applies to the 1.0l pre-2019, after which the wet-belt was replaced with a chain. And besides the problem was alleviated with regular servicings, the issue is that 1.0l was an option in almost every Ford and the amount of people that bought it and never serviced the cars are quite high. If you know about the ecoboost engine issues you're probably not someone in that category of driver.
I think it’s time I unsubscribe 😄. Just kidding, gutted to see you have sold it but glad you were able to enjoy one of the best sports cars out there! You will miss it for sure and I reckon it won’t be that long until an mx-5 is back on your driveway 👍🏼.
People already have 🤣🤣Hopefully the Ford community will boost the numbers back up 🤞Oh we deffo miss the Mazda but sometimes you have to do the sensible(ish). Once the dust settles the search for a MK1 will begin 👍
Right, thats it! Unsubscribed!!!! 🤣.... That ST does look proper though own a poverty spec Focus and must admit does the job so imagine having that it'll be hilarious.
@ ooft they’ll be back!…. The cars fine just sitting there sadly not getting anywhere near the use I wish it was. You can have a go once I’m finished with the planned work down the line… so how about 2045? 🤣 she’s looking in rather poor shape on the outside ironically while being spot on underneath!
@@CarBore yeah, it’s the underneath of a mk1 that scares me tbh. Once the dust settles and we recover from this purchase our search for a mk1 can begin, probably some time later summer 🤞
@@midlifemotors5050 oooo if you’re going to go for one honestly wouldn’t worry too much about that I suppose unfortunately with the age it’s almost inevitable that the R word will probably appear unless you’ve got a garaged one since the 90s and smothered in everything. It was a bittersweet day tbh, but gotta move on and good to try other things. Thanks for tuning in 👍 Feel free to stay for Ford content 😉

Time to move on to something a bit more practical, anyone else faced that dilemma??
Congratulations on your new car, hope you still have the SLK55 locked away in your garage 😄
Thanks Lee 👍 Yup, still here but well locked away in this weather 😉
I have the st line 125 myhbrid and it’s superb. The full ST must be a different story.
I am still having to pinch myself tbh, even after 2 weeks 😀
A great choice. I’m in the market for one so I’ll be following closely as I need something more practical.
