So, I figured we should break Pokemon Investingdown into a few different segments. First, we'll talk about investing in singles vs investing in sealed - I think Pokemon sealed product investing is the clear winner here. Then, what types of Pokemon Sealed Product are we going to invest in? There are Pokemon booster boxes, elite trainer boxes, sleeved blisters, and collection boxes. To make a good decision on this, it's important to think about re-sellability - what are consumers going to want to buy in the future?
I personally like Pokemon Booster Boxes the best... so which booster boxes should you buy right now? Well, you'll have to watch!

Like some others, I started investing when SV 151 came out. I first looked to channels such as this awesome one. I got great advice and although I by no means even close to being an expert, I would advise anyone starting out to go for their nostalgic set(s) and SWSH. Love your videos, excited for 10k!
Congrats for 10K! Unfortunately I missed Evolving Skies, but I have great hope for Lost Origin, 151, and my personal favourite Crown Zenith.

@@Scorr_Gaming Any of them, as long as it's for a fair price. Also keep in mind reprints aren't done yet, so I don't recommend rushing in and getting a Booster Bundle for let's say $50.
ETB's are a fair price at around $55 BUT after a reprint they could be around $45.
JP BB's are on you. Just be aware they retail for like $40 I believe and currently sell for 180-ish USD. It also has those Master Ball Holos which is an extra chase English doesn't have.

I buy what I like. I'm a few cards short of the complete crown zenith library. If I had more spending money I'd start buying and saving sealed booster boxes and premium collections.
I think you hit it perfectly. Booster boxes like lost origin, fusion strike and chilling reign have room for you to make a decent profit in the next 1-2 years. If you have the money for evolving skies, I think the set still has more room to grow.
I think any sword and shield era booster box would be a great giveaway since this is an investing channel and you have been covering those a lot lately and you have been talking about why it’s a good idea to invest in them now. Great video btw

I think sealed 151 products will always do great even with more reprints and restocks. The nostalgia of the original 151 is too strong.
It’s not as good as people hype it up to be. Surely it will be a better then most set but I’d say it’s nowhere near like evolving skies potential

By 2028 a 151 pack will sell for more than ES. ES came out earlier. Which gives it a headstart.
@@rell660 yeah exactly so evolving skies will be worth much more by the time 151 is, 151 will blow up but people over hype this set so much “the nostalgia will carry” 🙄 the set is mid at best, has okay sar and the cards aren’t worth much in comparison to evolving skies.

The last restock a few months ago of evolving skies on PC had all the plastic inside out. I got one. Do you think it will be harder to sell down the road?
i believe paldean fates will boom in price once most stores get out of product 151 as well other then those 2 sets i say booster boxs are the way the go so i agree with you on that :)

Great video Colin. I think SV is an excellent spot for beginners. Like you said, it's pretty cheap just about everywhere. I think Temporal Forces is gonna be HOT in the future and it's leading us into the sexy era of SV.
I agree with you that singles are best for collections and sealed is best for investments. Rn im graduate school so moneys tight. for me i still want to be enjoying the hobby so i limit myself to a couple of packs to open to add to the collection. I may miss the boat on certain sets and ill definetly invest when im able to do so comfortably
Cant wait til crown zenith starts going up again. Once it starts climbing, bet it outperforms lost origin in the same amount of time

I agree with you when you say Chilling > Fusion. Although both are such great sets. I just prefer the artworks on CR.❄️ Astral is a great set also with awesome artworks. Great trainer gallery too as you mentioned.🔥
I think sealed product or raw hit and grading them if they're top quality is my way to go.
If I started investing today, I’d be getting booster boxes from sword and shield sets or scarlet violet sets, or Japanese booster boxes.

I think its great to start investing on 151 products. Even with reprints, the market has proven they are still sought after
I always like the yard sale strategy. People bulk selling their collections for quick cash. Do a bit of research on what cards to look for (full arts, charzards, vintage, rainbow rares, etc) i just bought a collection on FB and 6/200 cards are valued at what i paid

Space for storage is definitely a long term problem. Just finished the Lego Batcave and it takes up the room of about 6 booster boxes. What was the Mrs thinking buying me that. And as for how big Rivendell is... 😂. Yeah storage space long term is a problem, but some problems look so damn good.

PSA 8 Vintage hits are so cheap right now. They will be what the current vintage 9s are now.
If I started investing right now I would buy some booster boxes and some retail products with evolving skies in it to get exposure to evolving skies.

Yea they do I just got 6 brilliant stars and it came in case but they don't double the boxes. U just get the case wit label on it just so u know
People keep saying Astral Radiance wasn’t reprinted but you can buy 96 boxes of it in one order right now on the Pokemon center. Lost Origin limits to 6, Brilliant Stars limits to 6 and silver tempest is 3. Kinda feels like maybe there’s a reason they didn’t reprint.

if i were to start over i would just buy booster boxes to hold instead of etb and premium boxes etc. I would also buy booster bundles.
Talking about booster boxes as a better investment than collection boxes but using the Hidden Fates UPC as a comparison was a poor choice. I love these investment videos and agree with most of what you said but 1) Hidden Fates is a specialty set (as you know), so there's no booster box and 2) UPCs are a kind of unique collectible item. I understand that investors should buy what consumers are after, since that's what will have the most value. But some items (UPCs, in this case) have value because they could go up, as collectible items. Anyway, thanks for the content!

I don't think Ryan opens enough packs to push the market himself. Doubt any current PokeTuber has that power. The slow shift in behavior by their community might eventually contribute to upwards pressure but a big rip sesh itself is not enough.
I don't think it's about how many packs he opens, because I agree with that. However, lots of people watch, and then start FOMOing so I think PokeTubers definitely can have some sway in the market. For example, when PokeRev couldn't pull the Aerodactyl V alt art from Lost Origin, that card went up in price

I said monthes ago when ES was pushing $400, it would be 1k by the end of 2024. Push 2k by the end of 2025. If you can get it, do it.

I agree with everything except the sleeved packs unless it’s a case. I had over 100 sleeved ES 1 1/2 years ago and decided to open 10 and they were resealed. I ended up opening the last 90 just because I couldn’t sell them down the road because of a chance of them being tampered

Singles are better. I'd rather have a moonbreon or girantina over the BB. Its just getting them thats tricky.
