- Katie Kelly and I have been putting our joint thinking power together for a few years now to work out aspects of pelvic pain and more importantly, their clinical basis for treatment. We have a regular chat to go through things we've read, watched or discovered to help us both understand. We hope our discussions help to show our working...
Here we're joined by South African Physiotherapist Corina Avni who is embarking on a PhD looking at autonomic comobidities in pelvic pain states.
We both found this chat incredibly interesting and no doubt we'll be back for more soon.
Enjoy.
Fascinating stuff. I was recently diagnosed with IC, whatever that means. It's incredible how different our symptoms can be under this huge umbrella. I will be visiting a Pelvic Floor Therapist soon and I pray to God it's with someone as interested and knowledgeable as you are.
Fantastic insight
You've mentioned the microbiome. Can you direct me to more information as it relates to your discussion of pelvic pain?.
Been struggling with vulvodynia for a year now.. tried everything in the books. I don’t know what to do anymore..
I've been watching your videos on painful bladder syndrome. I'm diagnosed with this but when I get a flare up I never know whether it's a urine infection or not. I've had urine tests in the past since diagnosis. They usually come back negative. Yet lately every doctor I see doesn't do a test they just automatically give me antibiotics. The thing is these do seem to stop my symptoms for 2-3 weeks. Then I'll get another flare up. I've asked to have a second opinion with another urologist but my doctor just ignored my letter. How do I get them to take this seriously? I'm at my wits end with it all.
Do you think this could be a placebo affect? Not at all invalidating your symptoms. But sometimes taking medication in hopes it does help ends up helping only because we believe it will (ie our bodies literally heal themselves).
@BeautifyingBasics yeah I see what you are saying. This time some symptoms remained. I landed up taking painkillers for a couple of days. Not sure if that's going to help calm things down. But it's worth a try before I go to the doctors again.
Can we ask questions?
