I LOVE the change to the assembly order, I'll go back and get pics for those new steps and if you have others that you see assemble better, it is too late for any more Chevys for this year, but let's incorporate them into the 2023 instructions! For those wondering why I didn't design the instructions this way, it was because I was doing it all digitally and no physical parts existed to assemble, besides, I'm not a builder like Clay and he knows work flows considerably better! Awesome work sir!

Wonderful to see support from the manufacturer. Clay is brilliant and the fact you sought him out says volumes about your commitment to models actually being built.
I've heard nothing but great things about your kits which isn't true about previous North American kit makers.
Congratulations on dealing with NASCAR over licensing, one of the most difficult aspects of producing plastic models.

I'm doing the carbon fiber spray paint trick that was shown in the Model Cars 214 issue on this kit. I'll probably just brush paint the mounting tabs flat black once complete. I'm going to glue styrene strips inside the front and rear bumper that will grab and hold the pan in place like we used to do on the old Thunderbird kits.

  • @johnhopkins6565

Any detail work to the firewalls needs to be done prior to cagework. I added textured bmf to the front firewall in the engine bay, but the spider cage on the rear firewall prevented me from adding it there. I was able to glue a 3d-printed oil tank just inside the spider cage on the rear firewall and it turned out really nice.

No full builds. I really would like to see a start to finish if it is the Ally build or if you done the Next Gen Lajoie ride. These new kits Salvinos come out with looks to be a work of art but very highly detailed. What im confused about is the difference in what we run in Late Models vs these cup cars. The large frame on chassis floor (between front and back assemblies) - what do you do if that piece is warped? The frontmost part of that piece is warped and doesn't fit flush against the bottom. I can get the 2 rear nubs to fit flush in their respective holes, but 1 of the 2 front nubs are then up in the air. I'm sure I'll be able to just crazy glue them into their holes ok, but I'm afraid what's going to be off because of this.

If your chassis builds up straight. And your body is straight, once you glue it all together at the end it will force the undertray to twist back straight. That's what helped in my case on my first build anyway.

You can dip the undertray in hot water for a few seconds then take it out, place it on a flat surface, and use tools, books, etc. to hold it down while it cools. You could use a heat gun applied to a particular problem area but I'd be careful not to actually melt it.
