In regards to your comments on what you expect for btd7. Personally, 4 paths is what I expect a 6th tier would be to much imo, I think the current power level of 5th tiers is just fine as a cap for an upgrade (not counting paragons)
NK already went above and beyond with BTD5, going from 8 to 15 upgrades per tower. I'd rather see new bloons and mechanics rather than even more upgrades, which will only lead to content bloat

I had a dream a while ago about BTD7. What I remember is that towers had five paths with seven upgrades, and you could crosspath into two paths i.e. 30703. The only upgrade I can remember was Sun Avatar Fan Club, which did what you'd expect.

Tier 1 and 2: Heavy Tips and Hot Tips - Frozen and Lead PP respectively (plus extra synergy on both upgrades for Spult and Crossbow paths) Tier 3: Weak Spots - 5 MOAB damage per shot Tier 4: Poptimization - Buffs the pierce (and perhaps MOAB damage, to keep up with the path theme?) of all sharp attacks in range of the tower - Tier 5: Big Bloon Bounty - 50 MOAB damage, and blimps popped by this tower give a bunch of extra cash The low tiers of the Dart Monkey each cover a basic game mechanic. Top path is pierce, middle path is attack speed, bottom path is range, and this fourth path is damage types. Similarly, while the three existing paths further explore their concepts by going high pierce, high projectile count, and high range (+ introducing damage), this path further explores targeted damage by specializing against blimps.
I think tier 1 might need bonus damage for ceramics because of how bad the upgrade would be with other cross paths. Spike-o-pult already pops frozen bloons so the synergy between the paths would be quite worthless. Same with tier two, some extra ceramic damage, since top path already pops lead.

I think I saw a 13000 damage spike for the cosmic rang when it took care of the bad insides. So, not that great single target damage, but insane clean up.
Seems like each pierce on each boomerang can cause an explosion. Similar to the Explodey Darts from earlier in the video. The BAD didn't use up all of the pierce, so the damage was a lot lower.

@@rec6489 tougher darts would be kinda a meme upgrade like faster darts for helicopter. Pretty useless and very situational unless you go straight for the second tier. Anyway it helps more when crosspathing as you can see.
It's already pretty hard to balance with 3 paths, adding a fourth path would be a nightmare. But it also wouldn't matter too much since it's a PVE experience.
I have a great idea for a 4th path boomer monkey. "Chakram throwers" they throw a chakram in a circle around them (i.e like a tack or ice damage) Then as it upgrades u get pierce damage and multi throws and or a directional path to throw it forward where it goes out and comes back in a triple dart arc. Then add flavor for 5th tier. Just a quick thought Edit: the 5th tier chakram could be like a psychic who controls the spinning chakrams with his mind and can be placed on the map, like a mortar and gains camo detection and spins faster (added dps or pierce or both) plus can still be set to things like strong or first and has pursuit properties
I think that a fourth path boomerang could focus on manual aim, which would be hard with the arc of the boomerang, but every subsequent hit increases its power. It would probably have some range upgrades and upgrades that make the curve of the boomerang wider, I think it would be cool to have it be placed in tight areas where if you miss it might hit a later part of the track. Maybe its a heavy type upgrade similar to spike o pult and juggernaut, which trade attack speed for attack power and pierce. I think that would be cool for the fourth path boomerang.

This got me thinking of ideas for Dart/Boomer 4th paths (seems like a lot of people are sharing them lol) Dart Path - Focus on projectile speed and bloon debuffs Barbed Darts: Bloons move 10% slower after being hit Blow dart: Greatly increases the speed of darts to the point where they almost instantaneously reach their target. Double tap: Fires two projectiles in rapid succession. Poison Darts: Increases the slowdown on hit to 25%, Bloons also slowly take damage after being hit. Witch Doctor: Main tower now fires 3 darts in rapid succession, doubles poison effect, and creates up to 2 sentry-like 0002 dart monkeys in its radius Boomerang Path - focus around big projectiles Heavy Hands: Bommerang Monkey throws 25% bigger boomerangs Bone-rangs: Heavier material increases the boomerang base damage Fire Dancer: Boomerangs now create a fire aura around themselves that deal 10% of the base boomerang damage multiple times (kinda like Bloontonium Reactor) Long-Distance Rangs: Boomerangs can be thrown whole screen lengths. They move a bit slower, but also gain extra pierce. Boulder-rang: The Juggernaut to your Boomerang monkey. Greatly lowers attack speed, but throws out a massive boomerang that deals insane damage with an insanely high pierce cap.
I think it is interesting if they make the bionic boomer path shoot fast but smaller range, and make the fourth path shoot big but slow rangs. So one hits hard and the other hits fast.
Here's my take. The Dart Monkey uses darts, which evolves into Dart -> plasma Dart -> catapult Dart -> crossbow So I thought maybe a blowdart would be a good idea. Slow firing, projectile that doesnt deal alot of damage but maybe stuns balloons? With T3 letting you stun leds and frozen, T4 maybe letting you stun ceramics and another buff to make it better, and T5 letting you momentarily stun the blimps (shorter duration the bigger the blimp is). Basically cripple moab without the cripple and full map range, and it can target normal balloons. Good for early-mid but falls off at late because the duration of the stun isnt worth when theres better options because blimps are too storng to be affected for long (0.1 seconda for ZOMGS, maybe.0
The engineer 3rd tier 4th path: Water gun The engineer gains a water gun, attacking balloons at a faster rate with heavily reduced pierce and damage, but allows the placement of water towers within it's range.
6:38 ayy, that was called double ranga in, what, BTD4? I think I remember that being a premium thing that you could pay for. I did a bunch of surveys to get some of those premium features back then.
for btd7, i would expect tier 3 cross pathing tbh. 4th path and tier 6 would be alot, since paragons basically are tier 6 monkeys. 4th path could very well be possible but i find the idea of tier 3 crosspathing to be much more interesting, like a tack the with hot shots, or any of the tier 5 dart monkeys with triple shot, maybe with the archmage, if you were to crosspath with d breath or shimer, it would be twice as fast. just something is think would be cool.
Balance certainly off but I feel like as concepts for the paths these are pretty cool ideas. Especially the boomerang going ambidextrous and then getting extra rangs feels like an upgrade thats really fitting
What about doing the new odyssey without any abilities (excluding homeland/abilities that buff towers)? I wonder if it is possible, since every cream is replaced by a DDT and every moab is replaced by a BAD. If it is not possible, then try it with some money gaining abilities.
13:03 If it's going to be too OP when cross-pathed. I think you can make 4th path like a specialist path. Cannot be cross-pathed but SUPER STRONG or have a highly specialized role. That would make a tower could do more than it could be, given the specific situation it have been designed to use for. Which could make gameplay/strategies more interesting and dynamic imo. Another idea is: You can use the 4th path upgrades to enhance the already-there 3 paths. Somekinda like perks.
I think upgradable paragons could be possible for btd7; -I mean this like levelling up a hero, pump extreme amounts of money into it to bring it one degree higher -Or the paragon is seen like a 0-0-0 tower with its own paths, upgrades, Xp and abilities The downside is the time needed and how late you have to go, so NK would need to rework the lategame (maybe bosses every round ?🤔) If you want to make this a mod, pls credit me. I went to an engineering school (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) that also has an extremely rigorous CS program and I'd say it has to be that tough given how competitive the job market is and how tangible the skills are. By tangible I mean the exact things CS majors learn are the exact things they'll be using in their career. Imagine writing an essay where every single character & punctuation mark can ruin your entire essay and shorter & more concise writing is objectively better but riskier. That's coding

i think it would be cool if we had 6th tier upgrades but you could only have one 6th tier upgrade per tower (so you would have to choose the most ideal of the three)
An awesome upgrade for a 4th boomerang path would be a re-throw upgrade. The whole point of boomerangs is that they come back to you, so why not have an upgrade that allows the boomerang to rethrow 'rangs that haven't used their full piece? This would mean that against single targets, this boomerang would ramp up dps the longer it attacks, while being no better against grouped bloons.
i think this is how strong towers should be for the price. also it’d be cool if every tower had a super powerful upgrade i addition to the regular priced ones
I really want to see how long a bloontonium dart monkey gets with a superbuffed tack zone. Tacks doing 36 damage per shot before any other buffs would be absolutely nuts.
Make the 4th path for boomer camo detection > explosive rangs> keep the dual wield> as a 4th tier make it something like super monkey fan club but just the dark knight that makes him throw a secondary smoke bomb projectile that slows and makes balloons that go through a vulnerable > apprentice of the night is t5 and also gives him a ability similar to dark shift but is temporary buffs all monkeys radius where teleported 20 Second cool down no cooldown if a legend of the night is present on the map
The 4th Crosspath Boomerang one is a really interesting idea and it can take a theme of a multi Boomer like what you did with the 3rd tier. Everything is fine in the other tiers 3rd one be ambidextrous, the 4th one IN THE OTHER HAND, make him have polydactylism and make him have 2 extra thumbs and fingers making him throw 3 boomerangs with each hand AND the Mega Rang Master sound to cool for a 4th tier so now is a 5th tier and the boomer gets 2 extra arms 2 extra fingers making the Boomer throw 5 boomerangs with each hand and independent targeting with each arm. Another thing, the boomer throws the boomerangs in the same direction like right-handed boomerangs go to the right and vice versa to the left Edit: (my Grammarly doesn't work so I have to edit the comment to show me the errors) I don't have Ideas for the price range sooo...
I think an absolutely broken strategy is to get a 4-2-0 village, which makes T1 upgrades on primary towers free, and then just spam as many exploding darts as you can, because you're getting $1200 of value for only $200. This is probably why no T1 primary is more expensive than $500, and the only expensive T2 primary is Glue Splatter, which is not very good to spam.
Honestly, with extra paths, I think it would be sick to see 6 paths. It may sound insane, but here's what I really mean: You can swap paths at any time. Swap out paths for different ones, and you have access to the three you picked for that tower's loadout. It would be a logistic and balancing nightmare, but for fun and for the sake of cool ideas, it would be sick, and avoids the issue of having a hard-coded 3 path system.
Ok how about this. What if the idea for 7 isn't paragons for each monkey, but for each class. Here's your primary paragon, is it going to be dart, boomerang (etc)... Here is your magic paragon, military (etc)
I recon their should be a monkey knowledge for being able to make 5.2.1 towers that way you can do interesting cross paths and it will still keep the difficulty of chimps
Honestly I'm not sure what they can realistically do for btd7. The jump from 5 to 6 was so monumental - it wasn't just "the same but MORE!!!". They added so many new mechanics, game modes, entirely redid the graphical aspect for a beautiful 2.5d look. What I strongly believe they should do is invest heavily in their MODDING scene. This alone would give this game absurd longevity. Just look at Terraria, with tmodloader. I've personally spent 800ish hours on vanilla and around 1200 on tmodloader, back when I had time to play games like that. Minecraft too, practically survives on mods and eventually implementing some reduced, polished and commerical-friendly aspects of selected mods into the official game
Modding and mapping tools for the community is one of the best things you can do for your game. Massively increases longetivity, along with many other benefits of community-driven content.
I can't see NK thinking about BTD7 right now. BTD6 is so successful and already had so many additions over BTD5, WAY more than BTD5 had over BTD4. They can just keep adding new content and I think they will until they manage to throw the balance of BTD6 out of whack. I honestly think their next game should be somewhat of a different format. Like you're the bloons trying to get past the monkeys or it's a pvp or vs game against another human player where you control monkeys and try to take out their bloons, in a way different from battles. Maybe a series of minigames like capture the flag, king of the hill, etc..
It honestly really bugs me that modders put zero thought into balancing when they mod in new towers. I feel like it's wasted potential to make them so OP.

I think it's pretty reasonable for the last tier to do the extra damage it does if the price is increased to 180k then it'd be a supermines cost with about the same effectiveness as 8 super brittles at 6x the cost but the downside to that being (and why this would be better and the price shouldn't be 200k+) is you can only afford it for late game with heavy farming and it's not like it could be used in chimps. Bloonchipper paragon when?

Double tap: Fires two projectiles in rapid succession.
Poison Darts: Increases the slowdown on hit to 25%, Bloons also slowly take damage after being hit.
Witch Doctor: Main tower now fires 3 darts in rapid succession, doubles poison effect, and creates up to 2 sentry-like 0002 dart monkeys in its radius
Boomerang Path - focus around big projectiles
Heavy Hands: Bommerang Monkey throws 25% bigger boomerangs
Bone-rangs: Heavier material increases the boomerang base damage
Fire Dancer: Boomerangs now create a fire aura around themselves that deal 10% of the base boomerang damage multiple times (kinda like Bloontonium Reactor)
Long-Distance Rangs: Boomerangs can be thrown whole screen lengths. They move a bit slower, but also gain extra pierce.
Boulder-rang: The Juggernaut to your Boomerang monkey. Greatly lowers attack speed, but throws out a massive boomerang that deals insane damage with an insanely high pierce cap.

I think it is interesting if they make the bionic boomer path shoot fast but smaller range, and make the fourth path shoot big but slow rangs. So one hits hard and the other hits fast.
Here's my take.
The Dart Monkey uses darts, which evolves into
Dart -> plasma
Dart -> catapult
Dart -> crossbow
So I thought maybe a blowdart would be a good idea.
Slow firing, projectile that doesnt deal alot of damage but maybe stuns balloons? With T3 letting you stun leds and frozen, T4 maybe letting you stun ceramics and another buff to make it better, and T5 letting you momentarily stun the blimps (shorter duration the bigger the blimp is). Basically cripple moab without the cripple and full map range, and it can target normal balloons. Good for early-mid but falls off at late because the duration of the stun isnt worth when theres better options because blimps are too storng to be affected for long (0.1 seconda for ZOMGS, maybe.0
Usually I dislike looping shorts but this concept utilizes it well imo
The engineer 3rd tier 4th path:
Water gun
The engineer gains a water gun, attacking balloons at a faster rate with heavily reduced pierce and damage, but allows the placement of water towers within it's range.
for the boomer, the lightsaber upgrade should be brought back

for btd7, i would expect tier 3 cross pathing tbh. 4th path and tier 6 would be alot, since paragons basically are tier 6 monkeys. 4th path could very well be possible but i find the idea of tier 3 crosspathing to be much more interesting, like a tack the with hot shots, or any of the tier 5 dart monkeys with triple shot, maybe with the archmage, if you were to crosspath with d breath or shimer, it would be twice as fast. just something is think would be cool.
Balance certainly off but I feel like as concepts for the paths these are pretty cool ideas. Especially the boomerang going ambidextrous and then getting extra rangs feels like an upgrade thats really fitting

What about doing the new odyssey without any abilities (excluding homeland/abilities that buff towers)? I wonder if it is possible, since every cream is replaced by a DDT and every moab is replaced by a BAD.

I think you can make 4th path like a specialist path.
Cannot be cross-pathed but SUPER STRONG or have a highly specialized role.
That would make a tower could do more than it could be, given the specific situation it have been designed to use for.
Which could make gameplay/strategies more interesting and dynamic imo.
Another idea is:
You can use the 4th path upgrades to enhance the already-there 3 paths.
Somekinda like perks.
Like a tower specific commander that buffs only that tower
Btd3 only had a few towers and iirc maxed at Moab’s, 4 has more towers and bfbs so yes there’s less upgrades per tower but more towers overall
I think upgradable paragons could be possible for btd7;
-I mean this like levelling up a hero, pump extreme amounts of money into it to bring it one degree higher
-Or the paragon is seen like a 0-0-0 tower with its own paths, upgrades, Xp and abilities
The downside is the time needed and how late you have to go, so NK would need to rework the lategame (maybe bosses every round ?🤔)

I went to an engineering school (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) that also has an extremely rigorous CS program and I'd say it has to be that tough given how competitive the job market is and how tangible the skills are. By tangible I mean the exact things CS majors learn are the exact things they'll be using in their career. Imagine writing an essay where every single character & punctuation mark can ruin your entire essay and shorter & more concise writing is objectively better but riskier. That's coding

i think it would be cool if we had 6th tier upgrades but you could only have one 6th tier upgrade per tower (so you would have to choose the most ideal of the three)
If there was a 4th path for gloo I’d imagine I’d give camo detection and mainly focus on removing special Bloon properties
An awesome upgrade for a 4th boomerang path would be a re-throw upgrade. The whole point of boomerangs is that they come back to you, so why not have an upgrade that allows the boomerang to rethrow 'rangs that haven't used their full piece? This would mean that against single targets, this boomerang would ramp up dps the longer it attacks, while being no better against grouped bloons.

I really want to see how long a bloontonium dart monkey gets with a superbuffed tack zone. Tacks doing 36 damage per shot before any other buffs would be absolutely nuts.
Make the 4th path for boomer camo detection > explosive rangs> keep the dual wield> as a 4th tier make it something like super monkey fan club but just the dark knight that makes him throw a secondary smoke bomb projectile that slows and makes balloons that go through a vulnerable > apprentice of the night is t5 and also gives him a ability similar to dark shift but is temporary buffs all monkeys radius where teleported 20 Second cool down no cooldown if a legend of the night is present on the map

The 4th Crosspath Boomerang one is a really interesting idea and it can take a theme of a multi Boomer like what you did with the 3rd tier. Everything is fine in the other tiers 3rd one be ambidextrous, the 4th one IN THE OTHER HAND, make him have polydactylism and make him have 2 extra thumbs and fingers making him throw 3 boomerangs with each hand AND the Mega Rang Master sound to cool for a 4th tier so now is a 5th tier and the boomer gets 2 extra arms 2 extra fingers making the Boomer throw 5 boomerangs with each hand and independent targeting with each arm.
Another thing, the boomer throws the boomerangs in the same direction like right-handed boomerangs go to the right and vice versa to the left

I think an absolutely broken strategy is to get a 4-2-0 village, which makes T1 upgrades on primary towers free, and then just spam as many exploding darts as you can, because you're getting $1200 of value for only $200. This is probably why no T1 primary is more expensive than $500, and the only expensive T2 primary is Glue Splatter, which is not very good to spam.
Honestly, with extra paths, I think it would be sick to see 6 paths.
It may sound insane, but here's what I really mean:
You can swap paths at any time. Swap out paths for different ones, and you have access to the three you picked for that tower's loadout.
It would be a logistic and balancing nightmare, but for fun and for the sake of cool ideas, it would be sick, and avoids the issue of having a hard-coded 3 path system.

Ok how about this. What if the idea for 7 isn't paragons for each monkey, but for each class. Here's your primary paragon, is it going to be dart, boomerang (etc)... Here is your magic paragon, military (etc)
I recon their should be a monkey knowledge for being able to make 5.2.1 towers that way you can do interesting cross paths and it will still keep the difficulty of chimps
Too broken. Imagine how good a 1-3-2 sniper would be for midgame. This is just the first thing that came to my mind but there are lots of them.
Honestly I'm not sure what they can realistically do for btd7. The jump from 5 to 6 was so monumental - it wasn't just "the same but MORE!!!". They added so many new mechanics, game modes, entirely redid the graphical aspect for a beautiful 2.5d look. What I strongly believe they should do is invest heavily in their MODDING scene. This alone would give this game absurd longevity. Just look at Terraria, with tmodloader. I've personally spent 800ish hours on vanilla and around 1200 on tmodloader, back when I had time to play games like that. Minecraft too, practically survives on mods and eventually implementing some reduced, polished and commerical-friendly aspects of selected mods into the official game
Modding and mapping tools for the community is one of the best things you can do for your game. Massively increases longetivity, along with many other benefits of community-driven content.

I can't see NK thinking about BTD7 right now. BTD6 is so successful and already had so many additions over BTD5, WAY more than BTD5 had over BTD4. They can just keep adding new content and I think they will until they manage to throw the balance of BTD6 out of whack.
I honestly think their next game should be somewhat of a different format. Like you're the bloons trying to get past the monkeys or it's a pvp or vs game against another human player where you control monkeys and try to take out their bloons, in a way different from battles. Maybe a series of minigames like capture the flag, king of the hill, etc..

1k dmg isn't alot... the pierce is whats nuts. It can pierce through so many bloons
I think it's pretty reasonable for the last tier to do the extra damage it does if the price is increased to 180k then it'd be a supermines cost with about the same effectiveness as 8 super brittles at 6x the cost but the downside to that being (and why this would be better and the price shouldn't be 200k+) is you can only afford it for late game with heavy farming and it's not like it could be used in chimps.
