The first part of the video was shot approximately 4 miles west of Russell, Kansas from a storm chase vehicle in an open field.
The second part of the video was the tornado that we filmed approximately 2 miles northwest of Wilson, KS in an open field.

I was in russell yesterday when this hit. I was on my way bacc to Colorado from Topeka. That was intense. I was under the overpass right by McDonald's. My car is screwed.

overpass may be one of the worst places to seek shelter from a tornado. Seeking shelter under an overpass puts you at greater risk of being killed or seriously injured by flying debris from the powerful tornadic winds.
