Frank ocean’s an artist. He gives people a lyrical visionary perspective of his own losses as he proceeds to become what people often use as a muse for there losses and isolates himself to the degree of what others feel like they’ve lost. Art is forever but the person who created it isn’t always, even if that means inaccessible while still living. I love him and his work. I don’t want him to rush anything or warp his process to fit market demands. But paradoxically I NEED a new album from Frank so I can sink into that vast sonic ocean again
As an artist who has the same goals and meaning as Frank, making music in the form of art and really have the listener envision the song itself is difficult. You become so immersed into what you’re writing that you go back, add things, remove things, then get to the point where you think you shouldn’t release it because you know that you could make something artistically better than that. Aside from that, drop some shit Frank 😭
Before the 2000s, music was less commercialized and operated as art that you had to “meet with.” A lot of bigger artists in the 90s, for example, had very few albums. Lauryn Hill, D’Angelou and Maxwell come to mind. And we mustn’t leave out us witnessing the rare metamorphosis of Beyoncé going from a pop hitmaker to a more genuine artist, changing with every album.
As a Carti fan, I always complain and am devastated at how bro has taken almost 3 years to drop a new album. Recently got into Frank Ocean and nah yall die hard fans got it worse. Im genuinely sorry (Im becoming one too)

You didnt really make a strong case to argue the title of the video. you argued that he is an artist not an entertainer, that the time he takes for himself in between albums is powerful but that does not logically equate to he will not release more music. otherwise, loved the video. nice job!
i don't think anyone can claim that he won't release anymore music because nobody has the possibility of knowing, but the "artist not an entertainer" thing relates as you can never ensure that an artist will keep producing art. unlike entertainers, it's not their job to do so; they produce art when they feel like it, and will stop when they want to. that's the reason why it was included
This video is a great breakdown of what it is like to be an actual artist in a world full of entertainers. I always loved and looked up to frank ocean because of his genuine artistic approach and his great songwriting. I actually almost got signed to def jam aswell but their vision did not align with mine so i kind of just let it all fade out, frustrated about finding out the industry had no intention of pushing artists who actually wanted to make art instead of entertainment. Looking back i probably couldve done alot of things differently and ended up in a whole different place. But thats alright, at least i kept my integrity and chose my own path. And i might get back to creating art and music someday too, if i feel like theres room on the market for art and enough people interested in the art itself instead of whatever gimmick is cool right now..

We don't know if that really was a new album or just a campaign. Although I like the idea of this bootleg album with all the songs that Frank release after Blonde
‘Pyramids,’ which I think is Frank’s magnum opus, alone is why I think he’s one of the greatest artists that has ever lived. It’s so sonically sound while also transcending genres. Frank’s discography may be short and he may never release music again, but his discography is evergreen and his commitment to quality control is why his discography is impeccable and evocative.
Excuse me Sir, but this is just an excuse not to drop music. I love the enigma. He’s got that vibe that a band like Tool has. He takes forever to make music, stays out of the spotlight. Very little live performances to be found on the internet.
I think i little of both imo. I think he's an amazing unique artist but the amount of mystique of his online presence and length between his releases has added alot of unnecessary fluff i guess. Again i get it his music is loved and desired but seems like he really isn't into it from all this recent stuff going on.
tbh, i wish more people had longer breaks between albums instead of just 2 yrs which is pretty common. maybe not as long, but im not a huge fan of frank ocean so idk. people just pump out albums not letting u take in the previous era of their work. and they are already moving on to the next one. like i loved planet her from doja cat and i love her her album, but i think 1 more year for scarlet would have been better.
I’d say art is to evoke someones interpretation of the emotion in the piece. Entertainment I'd say is a presentation of a story leaving little for interpretation
There is never an excuse for an artist to not do music when money and resources are not the problem. The artist cannot live without his art, and the art cannot be expressed and offered to the world without the artist. An artist should not be okay with disconnecting with their art, not because they dont want to, but because they are incapable of doing it, whether alone in their room, or in front of thousands of people.
music is subjective, so you don't have to like it! its just more popular because the composition and lyrics appeal to people more. a lot of powerful quotes from him are in that album, and the emotion put into it is easier for people to relate to since everyone has relation issues at some point

I love the enigma. He’s got that vibe that a band like Tool has. He takes forever to make music, stays out of the spotlight. Very little live performances to be found on the internet.
Hey where can I get that Ted Gioia soundbite without frank behind it?
Dude, I love Frank Ocean's music but really think he tends to be over romanticized
Absolutely agree with that
Speak!!!!
Over romanticized or overhyped
I think i little of both imo. I think he's an amazing unique artist but the amount of mystique of his online presence and length between his releases has added alot of unnecessary fluff i guess. Again i get it his music is loved and desired but seems like he really isn't into it from all this recent stuff going on.
The fact he can’t sing in person is a problem
tbh, i wish more people had longer breaks between albums instead of just 2 yrs which is pretty common. maybe not as long, but im not a huge fan of frank ocean so idk. people just pump out albums not letting u take in the previous era of their work. and they are already moving on to the next one.
like i loved planet her from doja cat and i love her her album, but i think 1 more year for scarlet would have been better.
Songs in the background please!!
Songs for women, Lost, Pink + White
I’d say art is to evoke someones interpretation of the emotion in the piece. Entertainment I'd say is a presentation of a story leaving little for interpretation
Do 1 full final album with H.E.R & PJ Morton🙏
6:38 uhh no that’s not the word I was thinking ?
i know when he will release a new album.
we'll let you guys phropesy
bro frank would have to drop an album every other year if he didn’t get that 20 mill from apple
There is never an excuse for an artist to not do music when money and resources are not the problem. The artist cannot live without his art, and the art cannot be expressed and offered to the world without the artist. An artist should not be okay with disconnecting with their art, not because they dont want to, but because they are incapable of doing it, whether alone in their room, or in front of thousands of people.
he said he was going to
have you not seen the other 50 + videos that are the exact same as yours ?
This is great man
Good video, but misleading title. Doesn't answer the question.
bro is still nr 102 worldwide on spotify
Bro what’s the song playing in the background in the beginning of this video???
Songs for women
Bro not dropping again 😭 pulled the rug on us all
who’s gonna tell him
nah he´s not dropping it anytime soon bro
he also lost his teenage brother in a tragic accident in 2020. he probably scrapped every single thing he was working on at that point while grieving.
Its always in music where i find new philosophies to learn from
Ive tried so hard to like blonde. I just don't understand why its praised so much more than Channel Orange
music is subjective, so you don't have to like it! its just more popular because the composition and lyrics appeal to people more. a lot of powerful quotes from him are in that album, and the emotion put into it is easier for people to relate to since everyone has relation issues at some point
not mentioning endless (as an album) and the effect it had on the music industry in a video like this is an error imo
He has 4 albums. Nostalgia ultra, Channel orange, endless, and blonde.
They ain’t on Apple Music
Nostalgia ultra is a mixtape
What are those visuals from at 1:41 - 1:46 ??
His old official music video
But he take it down 😔
Blonde and Chanel Orange was crazy
He can make more music, I believe in him.
Nigga please, I hope he sees this and puts out another one next month.
Well
@@bozodudeguy He's bird watching under the Brooklyn bridge, who knows. Still no album.
There is nothing harder than being a frank fan and a UVA fan.
he is a musical genius and artistic legend now matter what he does
i love this video and it gave me a new perspective!
Does anyone know, what is the son playing at the beginnig?
Sounds like one of the endings of a song on “blond” but someone tweaked it a little
I think “seinfield” was the song
"Why Frank Ocean won't release more music" cuz he no no wanna
