Thank you so much for posting this. We went there today 4-16-23 and really loved it. We had never heard if it until your video. Thanks again! Love your videos.
My pleasure, Renee! I always love to hear that I’ve inspired an adventure! Keep watching: I have many more unique locations, where I’ve been filming this spring. Just a matter of getting them all edited. 🙂
A friend of mine stumbled across the park and told me about it! It’s very easy to miss, if you’re focused on the road. As I researched the story, I found that a co-workers husband grew up in the area, and was part of the group that built the trail, bridges, and information boards along the path. It’s certainly a hidden history that most people, especially I, wouldn’t know about! 🙂
I was really surprised at how muddy and slick it was by the creek. Rest of the trail was dry as a bone. Those handrails were definitely there for a reason!
I didn’t either, and thought New Albany stopped at Scribner Drive, by the library! A good friend of mine is a wildlife photographer, and sent me pictures, encouraging a visit.
Damn never knew about the trolley line down the the road and on Corydon Pike is sycamore Island it used to be in the thirties in twenties amusement park my mother talks about how her mom would get on train to go there . There's a building on the other side of the creek that's somebody's tried to redo it used to be a dancehall in one time my mother told me that her mom and a couple of her friends went there to dance and word got to
There used to be small resort parks all over this area. I toured an abandoned one at Galena (Jersey Park), there’s still a sign for one on Paoli Pike in the Knobs, everyone knows about Rose Island at Charlestown. Sycamore Island is still there, and they have a small pay-to-fish lake and a place to buy fishing and hunting supplies. I’d heard that a woman did a book about all of them, but I don’t remember the title.
Another great and informative video. Thanks.

You're very welcome
Thank you Sir, I'm gonna check it out .🤠🖖
Bring water, consider the longer, less steep trail back. 🙂
My childhood stomping grounds.. never knew the story behind the area… just loved playing in the woods.

Found it, thanks. I thought it was a new release.
No worries! I’ve done numerous New Albany segments, but not one big feature
Looks like a beautiful place. Gonna have to make trip. Thanks
Bring boots for mud! 🙂
@@AdventureswithRoger I'm a hiker and backpacker, so I've got that covered. LOL

@@AdventureswithRoger Yep, it can be as slick as ice for sure!
It would have been great to visit there back in the day!
It would’ve been fun to ride those trolleys
Peaceful
It’s a shame they haven’t added concrete or blacktop, to make it more accessible.
Very interesting. Didn’t know that was there.

Legend has it that Al Capone had a home in Silver Hills.
Had not heard that one. I heard he’d had a place along Silver Creek, but I never found where it was.
Who owns this? according to the county its listed as private property.
It’s my understanding that’s it’s owned and maintained by the Silver Hills Historical Society
