Germany’s win here was a huge moment in the UK, because it meant the claims that “it’s all political and everyone votes for their neighbours” was completely disproven. Germany had been really struggling for a long time before 2010. No one ever gave them a chance to win again, because they didn’t have a bloc vote to rely on.

The reason why Lena won was not that Satellite was the best song. It was genius marketing by Stefan Raab (the guy sitting near Lena pointing the finger at her during voting and after she won running with the German flag in the background). His show TV total was at its height at that time. So was he. Before the ESC they actually taped several episodes of the show beforehand so they had time to go to other countrie's tv shows and place her on those shows (like Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands and others). Many people loved her personality. That's why many people already knew the song (Graham actually mentions that when she had her first performance before the voting) all throughout Europe. Because Germany is not popular in Europe it usually is way further behind and also did not win with a landslide this time. But the whole thing helped. I also believe the German tv station ARD helped a little but by financing a little bit more than usual. You can see that Germany is more prominent than other countries during the show. Especially during the flash mob part (a longer scene and the live flash mob). You can't see that here but in the full version of the show.

(I already posted this text somewhere else, but it has to go here too): To explain something fundamental, because you keep reading that people don't understand why Lena won with a song with rather irrelevant lyrics and not the rock band from Turkey: Satellite is a love song (by the way, written by an American and a Dane) and love songs rarely have deep lyrics. The ESC isn't primarily about lyrics anyway - would England otherwise have won in 1981 with a flat pop song (and trick clothes) instead of the German singer with a much more profound and heartfelt song? The lyrics of 'Fairytale' aren't exactly deep either, not to mention this year's Norwegian contribution 'Give the Wolf a Banana'... That's ESC! It's the 'magic' of the moment that counts, not the best lyrics or the best voice - Sertap Erener also screamed more than she sang and still won in 2003. Because she carried people away and fascinated her with her performance. Regarding manga: rock songs always have a difficult time at the ESC, exceptions prove the rule. And a second place for the Turkish band is absolutely great in this case. Lena had clearly won, in the jury voting as well as in the televoting, by a clear margin (over 70 points). So there weren't any irregularities or discrepancies between the jury and the audience - like eg. 2015, 2018, 2019 or this year (2022). It was a crystal clear victory! It's a pity that manga didn't compete again next year, I'm pretty sure that a win would not have been improbable then. One more thing: Turkey didn't drop out because of the (very good) second place in 2010, but only stayed away from 2013 for completely different reasons.
Manga deserved to win, let's honest yes, Lena's song was good but this is not an ordinary concert stage, it is Eurovision and when compare with Manga, Manga was deserved to win.
@@FuxXxal It's not about Germany, my friend. The thing is, countries scored low due to political events like this year. This reduces the pleasure of competition. Many countries have been wronged.

Just a fair comment : The girl who presents Ukrainian Vote is probably the most beautiful women in the world
Is there any chance to see the full final with Graham Norton in YT?
"back off, woman", "she's married, back off" he's a savage lmao
Who's here after the 2024 eurovision?

Manga deserved to win, let's honest yes, Lena's song was good but this is not an ordinary concert stage, it is Eurovision and when compare with Manga, Manga was deserved to win.
EXACTLY
Alexander is so sweet ❤🤣😂
Lena is the cutest person ever
I know😘😘😘🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
MaNga should have won. Turkish enemies made unfairness. Political voting was held.

And you really think Germany is free from political voting?
@@FuxXxal It's not about Germany, my friend. The thing is, countries scored low due to political events like this year. This reduces the pleasure of competition. Many countries have been wronged.
