Could have easily put a shorter oil cap on there. Remove the extention and put a cap right on the valve cover

Haha! Yes. At least mine lasted a couple years before it went. I plan on pulling the whole engine apart to inspect the damage.

Dont waste money on cams on stock heads to see any benefit which will be small you'll have to port the heads. I would suggest a set of trick flow heads of your choice and a set of custom n/a cams.

I'd consider it, but the lead in it messes up the o2 sensors. Plus that's not very convenient to still use it as a truck. LOL
Lead coats valves, pistons, no detonation.
Seems like an oil leak from turbo wrecked the engine.
I.have a 2004 expedition with the 4.6 2v. Any advice?

You can get the valve cover with oil fill on the otherside
What vehicle has it on the other side? That would be nice!
@Auto Detour I'm not super sure but I know I've seen them on 5.4s it may be a Romeo engines vs Windsor. That would mean it was head specific.

Can you do a cab off lift, so the frame stays put, and have room to remove engine?
The guys at work quickly removes the cab and lots of clearance.
I've been thinking about that. I could probably do it if I pull the truck way back, lift the cab and then roll the chassis forward. We'll see. I like that idea though!
Are you running stock 2v heads ?
Yes. Everything on the engine was 100% stock

.030 of piston ring gap will help ensure you do not blow your pistons. Make sure your new short block has that .030 ring gap so the new expense pistons do not chunk when rings get hot and run out of gap at high boost, heat and pressure .
The new setup is gapped for boost. That is a great tip though!
Quick question, the CX racing kit for the turbo you linked says it's for a 4.6L. Was that compatible with the 5.4 as well? Awesome to see you back at it btw!
Yes it will work but he said he made some modifications to make everything fit. He explains everything in his series.
My kit was for the 4.6. I had to lengthen the crossover pipe and run the downpipe outside the framerail since the 5.4 is wider than the 4.6.
