- Jesse Daniel is a hard working, hustling honky-tonk troubadour from the land of the tall redwoods, way out West. When I first met him, he'd invited me to his hometown out in the forested backwoods hills of Ben Lomond (not the Scottish one, where I went with Josh Okeefe), in Santa Cruz county, where he grew up. There, with his partner Jodi and his two pups, he adopted me into his home and treated me like family. That's just the kind of man he is. ( • Jesse Daniel, "Don't P... )
Since then, he has toured coast to coast on shows he booked himself, put together ace bands, started a record label to release his own music when he realized no one was going to do it better, put out an album and moved to another big ass state, Texas. That's what I respect about Jesse; nothing is holding him back. No excuses, no barriers. He hit rock bottom, in a series of down and out moments in his life on drugs, which he doesn't bring up or use as ammo. Then he pulled himself together, with a lot of help from his better half (and now manager), and got his show on the road.
So before all this pandemic lockdown started, we caught one of our last shows with Jesse headlining the American Legion post 82 here in Nashville, for the infamous Honky Tonk Tuesday. Before the show, the commander there let us film this number. Jesse, resourceful as ever, even recruited Chuy of NortenosATM to play the accordion on a song, after hearing him play on GemsOnVHS in their video ( • Norteños ATM, "Loca Bi... ). Whatever is next for Jesse, you can bet he'll do it with heart.

That accordion is exactly where it needs to be. Amazing.
Dwight and Flaco tribute
yo for reals he looks hispanic and that is as American as it gets right there!
We need more accordion in country music
Well, Tex-Mex music uses a mix of instruments used in Mexican and Texas/Western music, but it is only kind of country music.
The Heavy Horses is a great outlaw country band that uses accordion in a dark manner
GemsOnVHS is the GOAT. Period. End. Of. Story.
This entire album is super tight. Not a song on it I didn't like. Truely one of the best albums of the last forty years period.
Jesse is solid country gold! I’ve been loving the new album, and “Champion” is one of the greatest tracks from it! 🤠🎙📻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
SUPER SOLID!!! I kid you not, i have not been this pumped about an artist since i first heard Cody Jinks and Whitey Morgan for the first time in 2012. Jesse is the Real Deal.
Who's cody jinks and Walter Morgan?
@@johnplain1546 Not sure, i just heard others speak of them. I think you can look them up on the World Wide Web?
saw him play this song at grand ol echo last year, figured as soon as it gets out to the people Jesse is gonna get real big. great writer and player.
Holy cow I was going to try to email or message Jesse Daniel on twitter or something asking where I could find this song, he performed this in Flagstaff Arizona at the Colter Wall show a few months ago. It was the highlight of the night, It was just freaking amazing, I even told my brother on the way home that it was my favorite of the night. He didn't have a band, I kinda prefer it without the band to be honest, but this was good too.
That's the message. He's a good lad this one he is.
i just realized this is a basically an english-language corrido and i'm here for it
I like it very much. Greetings from switzerland

❤️❤️❤️
good stuff!!!
Feels good
1) Still a great tune.
2) Anthony wearing the "Casper Allen owes me $20" shirt will forever be ironic since Casper scammed a bunch of people out of merch.
good eye
In my dads hometown there was man named wheelbarrow who was an exact replica of champion
Man i love this shit
Is that the young Bill Monroe? Very cool
👊💥
Yip think this guy ijessie is really really good have his album really like it but this song is very like Kenny Rodgers the gambler I know its really hard to write a song that doesn't sound like another song especially when u have a story to tell and a melody riff going on in your head .I also noticed a couple of other songs on the album with other similarities but hey ho good luck to him/ he's a really good song writer 👍👏 there really something new in the country scene and sound country especially when we're getting all these Hank Williams and Johnny cash tribute bands coming through another one to mind that people seem to be going daft for but I don't really know why is this harmonica Sam yes nothing new at all there it's all buck Owens and Wynn Stewart material and exactly same pedal steel riffs in some of his tracks the steel player is really good tho 👏👏 the thing I really like about this guy Jessie and his band apart from those similarities. In some songs There just a breath of fresh air from this to these talent TV shows not saying in any way some are not good singers on them but these guys have to travel round the club's pubs and bars to get known I've been there so good luck and all best and keep playing when you can and hurry up with the next album lol 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🏴🇺🇸🥃
Neat
I'm looking for more music like this, any suggestions
Western AF here on UA-cam - I discovered that first and it lead me here.

@@tazekozak Thank you Taze. I've always thought about doing a "master class" type video to show folks how to record like this at home.

Do any of these cats featured on this channel do anything other than completely ripping off really old music and musicians? Art by nature is progressive and I’m sure in some ways these musicians are being progressive but this whole image being pushed on this channel is so stale and forced. Being that way is all well and fine but reading the comments that heap so much praise is just too much. Lazy consumers like lazy products I guess...
If it ain't broke don't fix it, partner.
These fine musicians honour the music in the most brilliant way. They produce true art. Respect to them for producing great songs! I hear you on evolution. That said, I’ve heard some of it , and I prefer what these cats are laying down. :)
Country is about tradition dude
So you don't like it because it doesn't sound like poppy electronic shit? Give me a break. You should probably find a different genre of music.
you sound like a fun guy
