- Jesse invited us to hang out and scope out the unique country music scene swirlin' around the West coast. I took him up on the offer and found myself wandering around his childhood home of Ben Lomond, California, outside Santa Cruz. Everyone in town seemed to know Jesse - a true small town vibe among the giant redwood trees.
He shook hands and kissed babies, and eventually we made our way to a covered bridge in town, much favored by the locals. There we found hobo Greg, basking in some nice weather with his marijuana and portable radio. Turns out he'd lived some of the blues Jesse liked to sing about, including the much maligned sr-22 blues. The sr-22 is what you must obtain to reinstate your license after a DUI in California. The process is arduous. Greg liked the song though, and decided to sing along.
With folks like Jesse and Gus Clark, I think the West is in good hands. I loved my time there, and recommend all to keep an eye on these places far from Nashville, New Orleans and Austin. Contribute to Jesse's Kickstarter here www.kickstarte...

Spent a lot of time on (and under!) that old covered bridge! I remember the Fire Dept. used to have the charity Pancake Breakfast on it back in the day. I have some really good memories of my youth right there. Good to know that people still be token on that bridge. Thanks for a great song and a flashback memory. I'll have to grab me a copy. I'm not sure when Jesse grew up there, it was much later than my time. I don't think Jesse was born yet.

Reminds me of Steve Hodge at Ruth’s flea market on highway 431, chambers county Alabama. Man had an old Yamaha with a hummingbird paint job. I strung it and tuned it up for him, then picked pancho and lefty as he tried his best to remember the lyrics. Good times.
There’s both a moral sentiment and a legal sentiment to a DUI. Carrying an SR-22 reminds you of both for the 5 years you carry it. To anyone who has or is currently holding one I hope you don’t make that mistake twice.

This so resonates with me! I bet they play it on KPIG!? I earned my first degree in a tent behind Cabrillo College. I'm sitting here in STL, MO - a full stack developer making software for eye surgery machines - and I just LOL'd. "Come on vacation. Can't leave cause probation." I'm stoked this was brought into my Tod/Mandolin Orange station on UA-cam! I gotta say in reminiscing... SC Metro system was so much more friendly than this STL system! Not having a license here sucks.

i'm pretty sure like 90% of the people in the rural area i live have tattoos. its way more normal than not having them now lol
Since when would having tats disqualify you from being country? My great uncle was as country as they come and I remember being intrigued by the old saggy stretched out tats covering his arms when I was a kid. haha Heck, even Mrs. Dolly Parton has tattoos. :)
