While the core part of Variax is the same, I don't think these will work with "just about any Variax out there". I have a 700 and these models (pre-JTV) cannot be controlled by Helix, i.e. guitar model and/or tunings altered on the fly; you can only play whatever model and tuning is set on the guitar itself. Please correct me if I am wrong!!!
At the moment no, but you never know what could come in new firmware down the road. A good work around is no speaker cab block and use a parametric EQ. And nice clean amp or just a preamp block.
