    I’ve played electric guitar for 40 years. How things have changed since my first Les Paul copy and little Fender Champ !!

    Had the Helix for about a year and a half, just picked up a Variax Standard and Powercab+. Those 3 put together are just about the dream rig, IMO

    I wonder if it would be possible to add the variax guitar modelling capabilities directly to the Helix as an update so that any guitar plugged in to the Helix would have access to all the variax has to offer. Variax workbench in the Helix type thing.

    So... I just ordered a Helix - this video helped push me over - it should be here mid-next week. I ALREADY own a Variax, as well as 2 L3t speakers, an L2t speaker, an L3s, and a Stagescape m20d mixer (apparently you're a good salesman, Sean!). One of the things that I can't get my head around is how to use the m20d mixer with all of this stuff - it's fine with the speakers, of course, but once you throw the Variax and Helix in the mix, you have to jump out of digital into analog to go to the m20d from the Helix, right? It's too bad there isn't a way to stay digital throughout the chain. Love the speakers and mixer, can't wait for the Helix! Put it off for a long time... So - tips on using the m20d with the system? Thanks! Larry

    I see the Fishman synth pickup mount on that guitar. Are you going to do a demo with Helix and Tripleplay?

    Hey Sean. Very cool! As a long-time Line 6 user and fan, I'm wondering if the acoustic guitar tones of the Helix are better than the PODHD500X which I'm currently using. I suspect they are, but would love to see a video comparison or a "thumbs up" from you here when you have the time. Rock on! :)

    Hi, I’m with Chris, are the patches available to download ? Seems he didn’t get a response hopefully second time lucky. Thanks in anticipation.

    Certainly interested in the features of the Variax, but I haven't found one that I would actually buy yet. Not a fan of the looks of the JTV guitars. I like the Pacifica styled Variax, but I wish it were a nicer guitar. Feels like a low end strat. Now if you guys could just combine the looks with the quality, then we'd be in business.

    Hmm i tried to connect the James Tyler variax with line 6 shielded cable to Helix lt, from there with usb to Mac mini, and trs cables to my speakers. ZZZZZhhh, only noise. I also do not get your patch 6a? Do you have it somewhere to download?

    At the end, I’m hearing 2 parts mod and 1 part delay.

    I always had one question concerning the variax guitar and using a line 6 gear as a pedal: what about latency? is there any that a guitarist can feel?

    • @frankie28web
      @frankie28web 8 років тому

      Of course. There are several AD / DA converters involved and the digital transformed signal has to be prozessed/calculated with algorithms to get the sound you want to achieve. This takes some tim (even if it's just milliseconds) and can be felt while playing. To me the Variax feels stiff, as if you would play a stage piano or a typewriter. The older acoustic or bass Variaxes are worse in this respect than the usual electric guitar Variax. Some people can live with is, some can't. On the other hand, you get some possibilities that no other system can achieve. So you better try before you buy...

    well I want to know how did he get rid of the chirp from the variax. my shuriken has this annoying chirp. its acoustic models are great but i always get a chrip with the electric guitar models.

    • @Typhoon0627
      @Typhoon0627 3 роки тому +1

      Get a small piece of foam rubber or an old crusty friday night sock and stuff it under the strings on the headstock between the nut and the tuners... then play your shuriken and see if it still has the annoying chirp. Check out Stevic's videos and look at the headstock on his Shuriken... he's got a lil hair tie looking thing on there that helps mute the strings between the nut and the tuners... that's likely where the chirp is coming from... if you play hard you're gonna get that resonance on most guitars without a locking nut.

    I have a variax jtv69. now you make me want to spend more money!

  • @shatteredsquare
    @shatteredsquare 8 років тому +1

    I would spend money on variax technology as a toy, but not until I can put it in the guitar of my choice. like a retrofit tuneomatic with the piezo saddles, and a electronics box you can Velcro to the top, like a triple play, that I can install on an ESP eclipse or something. I just won't give up a decent guitar for the modeling novelty.

    I expect Line 6 to issue a Variax HX in time for Christmas . . .just because its just another way to milk the public. Sean does nice demos.

    After so many years as a gigging musician, I tried many kinds of equipment, at the end, I prefer good solid but simple gear. A simple pedalboard, a tube amp and a versatile guitar (like a real James Tyler HSS strat with midboost) is all I need. Maybe its only me, but this type of gear, although I truly believe they work for many people, it always feels like toys. Anyone like that too?

    I am not satisfied with the part. What should be simple is a mystery to me? Everything I've had so far has been easier by light years. I'm not a sound engineer.
    Far too complicated in detail ... a gimmick with settings that only a professional understands and they have people doing it.
    Shhh part and not otherwise! Easy ???? i'm laughing ha ha ha ha ....

    Line 6 Customer Service is total shit. There products require way too much programming time and then STILL do not sound good.

      Do you have a phone number to reach them?

    • @donaldwhitner4339
      @donaldwhitner4339 8 років тому

      Yeah, I tried that many times and just got some canned auto answer that had nothing to do with my question. That is what started to make me dislike their customer service. I am Glad you are happy though. Best of luck with everything going forward! I think I am Fractal Audio bound at this point.

      That is how I see it too. you are completely right. It's a fucking part. I will not program until I have my fingers. I have a Playstation for playing
