I like putting my floss on plastic bobbins. It makes storage in the cases easier & keeps out dust & 'specialty fibers' lol There are so many reasons we love cross-stitch tools 🥰
I know this is old but thanks for a really useful video! I’d never heard of a snag nab it - it’s exactly what I need for pushing through those fluffy ends!
That snag tool is definitely what I need, I was having that issue this morning and was trying to poke it through with the needle and it wasn't working and I was getting very cranky
So much fun visiting with you today!!! I've got to try one of those project bags. Thanks for all the great info. I kept singing "these are a few of my favorite things..." ;) On a Side Note: I store my patterns by type. I have my primitive ones together, my Christmas ones together, my Halloween ones together, my samplers together, etc...
The detailer would work to thread a needle! I just came to cross stitching from punch needling, and you use that type of tool to thread a punch needle with yarn, but the wire is thin enough to thread a tapestry needle! 💕
Not stitchy related but I know you'll love this as much as I do...the Braves pitchers and catchers report next Weds!!!!! I loved your favorites especially the star detailer...I have never seen one before so now I'll be on the lookout for one! Thanks Kathy!
Great topic! I enjoyed seeing your favorites. I have that same lamp for stitching, it's great. I've had mine for at least 25 years now & have never had to replace the bulb. Marilyn
Thank you for this video and the link to make project bags. I recently restarted cross stitching and have a few WIPS from years ago to organize. I'm excited to go shopping for fabric.
Hello. I’m a new subscriber. I was so glad to see you pick up that bunch of DMC and say you liked it. I do too. The others are too expensive for me and not easy to find where I live. I enjoyed your video. Thank you
I love the idea of the star detailer, and I have one, but I can’t use it ... I don’t know, maybe I got a defective one, but every time I use it, as I’m pulling the thread through it cuts the thread instead of pulling it through. Caroline from Off the Grid Needlearts showed how to do basically the same thing using a scrap piece of floss, which is what I’ve resorted to. Always fun to see the tools others really like using! ~Katrina
Well I just ordered the snag-nabit & the star detailer! I LOVE bobbinating my dmc. I use only dmc for the same reasons; economical & easy accessibility.
Really enjoyed your video, did get a couple nice tips especially using the Star Detailer cause I have been in the predicament with thread that short and trying to get that needle under threads to pull that VERY Short piece back under, so thanks for that tip idea. Just recd about a month ago 2 different size of Rola-Frames, hoping I will like them, I’m a q snap gal usually. I’m waiting for my new Elan lap stand to come in right now, so I can start using both hands to stitch. I love bobbinating all my DMC flosses, but I use the plastic bobbins, I find the cardboard ones to bend to much. I agree it would be nice for other floss tubers to do a favorite video of their likings, enjoyed yours a lot. Have good Stitchy days ahead till your next video. 😊
I bought a package of 12 disposable mascara wands at my local beauty supply store for $2. They are great for brushing over your fabric after ripping out stitches. They pick up all the fuzz left behind. I also prefer using the white handle Clover brand seam ripper for taking out stitches. It has a bit thinner blade than most brands.
another chill half hour with a fave flosstuber :) I love seeing the favorites and would totally watch more of those. I'm still a new stitcher so I will take all the tips I can get. thx lady!
I love the Rollaframe. My daughter just bought me one for Christmas. I will be getting a couple more. Vonna's project envelope is on my to-do list. And a couple of your tools, the Star Detailor & tweezers just got added to my wish list. Thanks for sharing.
💜💜💜 This was great! I hope more people do it. We have so many of the same favorites! And then you got to the star de-tailor. I'd never heard of it. Had I seen this a few hours sooner, it would have been added to my 123stitch order. Now it's in the cart waiting for my next order :)
I like your storage idea for your Crosstitch pattern. But I’m with you I think I would organize them by seasons and then have some for the main holidays say Easter Halloween Fourth of July Christmas maybe even Thanksgiving that way you can find what you’re looking for much easier
You have some great tools! I need to find one of those star detailers because my thread is always short. I'm sure stitchers would laugh at me to see what I do to use up to the last inch of thread lol!
Loved this format Cathy! I have the same Ottlite! Must get the star thingy! Thanks for taking the time to get all that stuff and info together and then making the video! Take good care ! Rebecca
Star detailer. I’m going to look for that one. What a great tool. Thank you so much. I also like the tin you made. I hope that others do follow. I bought the nabber when Stephanie on just keep stitching showed it. 💕💕💕💕💕
I really loved this video, always fun to see what others use and love. I don't have a star detailer but recently learnt the trick with a piece of spare thread from Caroline at off the grid, really saved me a few times, must look for the detailer what is it really for so I can locate one? Thank you for a great video
DMC IS WHERE IT’S AT! It’s my favorite floss to stitch with too. Over dyes are pricey. I’ve never bobbinated my DMC though. Do the kinks in it bother you? I do have star detailers and always forget to use them!
The kinks or bends in my bobbinated floss don't bother me. It doesn't affect the way I stitch, and I haven't had a problem with them showing in my stitching. So I'll keep bobbinating!
Sorry this reply took so long! #15 is called a Star Detailer. Most stores that sell cross stitch accessories will have them. I just checked and 123Stitch has them.
123 Stitch has a good selection of evenweaves in different colors. I have also dyed white fabric with Rit Dye with good results. Jacque at Cross My Stitches on Flosstube has an excellent tutorial on how to dye fabric.
Excellent! ...and still relevant after 3 years!

‘Specialty fibers that get into your stitching” I’m dead hahaha! I have 3 cats so I can relate. Tweezers are a great idea, I’ll have to try it!
Thankyou, just getting back into Cross stitching and some good tools there that I know I will find really handy
'Specialty fibers!' Love it! I have a lot of specialty fibers in my projects

I really think I'm going to reorganize my charts according to subject! Makes so much sense.
I'm glad someone else LOVES even weave!!!
Thanks for keeping me company while I was quilting today. Thanks for showing all your favorite stitching things.

Love your video..thanks for the ideas especially Annie’s....great store as i too don’t have a local lens...cheers
Great topic, Cathy! We all need good tips! Thank you! Karen of Prom Queen Stitcher ☃️.
For my magnetic box. I added a felt piece in the top. It's where I drop my orts when I'm away from home.
Great idea!
Hi Cathy, enjoyed seeing your favorite stitchy things and picked up some tips, thanks!!

The star tool is actually made for punch needle. I have 2. There not a fancy as yours. But it does the job.
This was a fun video Cathy. Thanks for sharing. You’ve inspired me. Maybe I’ll make a “Favourite Things” video too! 😄
I love the colors and needles all the time I love to cross stitch cuz I'm doing one right now Pearl Harbor Memorial did I get started in 92
Hi Cathy! Those are my favorite scissors too and I was planning to mention them in my next video. Great minds! 😉
Very interesting. I have never seen that last needle. Might have to buy one of those🙌. Enjoy every stitch
Lots of my favorites to Cathy. Thank you for sharing 🌻

This is a great idea for a video. Thank you I learned a lot.
I loved a if your stitchy favorites. I will be getting a couple of the things you showed. Thank you so much for such a nice video.
This was a fun video! I don't believe I'd ever heard of a star detailer before, but now I'm definitely going to have to get one!
I enjoyed this video so much! I need a de-tailor!
Thanks for doing this! It was fun to see your faves and I learned somethings that are new to me. I hope others do this as well. But yours was great.

👍🏼🌻
What is number 15 called? I'd like one of those.
Sorry this reply took so long! #15 is called a Star Detailer. Most stores that sell cross stitch accessories will have them. I just checked and 123Stitch has them.
Where do you find the different colors of even weave? My LNS DOESN'T have colors.
