Hey! You should subscribe! Anyways, a quick note about this video- I wanted to make a movement video that goes beyond just explaining mechanics. I know a lot of the topics explored in this video aren't specifically movement, but it's your movement that allows you to be proficient at many other things in this game. Also, I didn't mention B hopping or surfing. This is on purpose as I'm not amazing at either, and wouldn't be the best resource to learn from. For surfing, I'd recommend this video: ua-cam.com/video/kJl3SkCfE7M/v-deo.htmlsi=f7BzbucjxQDmXxSP. And for B hopping, check out this in-depth video: ua-cam.com/video/IihcnHr3-rs/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Vipaza.
Id like to add onto this never rely on bhopping as its incredibly inconsistant with whether you will hit the hops or not its a very luck based thing like no scoping with an awp
when did movement change, doing the crouch on a jump isn't to extend jump, it gives you same height and distance, its to reduce your size and put your legs Infront of your body, makes it harder to hit body shot with awp... ive never heard what you said, only way to increase your distance is to strafe...
12:35 you don't have to use shift at all to move up/down silently on ladders, you only need to tap w+a/d. It's much easier to do and just as fast as tapping shift
Came here halfway through the vid to say this, you can tap the two movement keys on a ladder with a BPM of about 360, just a matter of spamming really short inputs at a rhythm
I came to comment this too. Wanted to add the reason why it works is because you’ll notice the first half a second when moving on a ladder is silent which is why tapping the keys is like repeatedly starting your ladder movement hence why the whole climb is silent without shift! :) blew my mind when I learned this
@@saveCS2nope i actually just do it for a long stretch just enough to not make noise . i need to tap it like ~4 times to get up to heaven on nuke for example
19:40 Yeah its velocity that determines when a step is made, i dont know what the threshold is that say "over X velocity a foostep will be made" but in CSGO i had seen videos of people trying to create or creating a script that would auto tap shift just before that threshold, so they can move faster than walking yet slower than running and remain silent. Scummy stuff, i want to say maybe it was in a voo video (lol). Also the weight of the weapon being carried will also affect the result, (effectively is a part of that unknown math calculation: X velocity divided by Y weapon weight or something) so you can have a knife out a higher velocity and not make a noise, when at that same velocity you would make a sound while holding something like an AWP. Thank you for joining my Ted Talk. Also good luck joining top 1% you can do it! i'm only like 11k atm but we out here grinding!
You are awesome. You break the game down to its core without making it unnecessarily complicated. I've linked this video to my gaming buddies, just like I always do with your videos. Thx a lot Wilson.
Purposeful peeks has helped me ranked up from lvl 3 faceit all the way to lvl 6 peak. It's one of those things that is extremely nuanced for me and takes me 3 years of playing to fully grasp. Thank you for the high quality content. It really helps for most newbies/intermediate level players out there :)
Another tip that makes silent dropping on ladders easier is that you can be touching a ladder while falling and as long as you aren’t holding a movement key you won’t climb it. Then when you want to stick to it you just press a movement key. If holding shift while doing so you can drop the entire length of the ladder silently and take no fall damage. You don’t take fall damage if you land on a ladder.
Good to see another informational video! You’re my favorite CS content creator to watch at the moment and I hope your channel grows and you get the recognition you deserve :)
something that has helped me with drilling in the concepts of peeking with A&D and just laying off the W key in general is playing a bunch of DMs with equip melee bound to W. this forces you to move perpendicular to the angle you are swinging and punishes diagonal peeks
Your videos are very well made ! I'm getting back into CS with CS2's release and really appreciate getting all that info delivered to me in a concise and easy way :)
A tip from n0thing I saw quite a while ago suggested counter strafing and bursting to stay mobile and accurate is the move. I like the spray strafe for close range engagements but for longer I think letting go of m1 while moving could be better. CS has infinite situations and ways to play them. Be comfy doin you.
Absolutely, can be super situational and v dependent on the player. I remember my buddy who I played w for a couple years would always tap at distance when I would go for sprays, but it worked for both of us
Very good tutorial for inexperienced players and honestly for a lot of experienced players too. Pretty much all stuff here should become second nature when you play the game long enough to a point where you dont actively need think about it but theres still people with thousands of hours played that would definitely need to watch this.
I would also add how to jump on small things like mirage bench while staying accurate. Crouch next to it, jump and release crouch immediately and you wont jump too high and stay accurate.
for silent ladders, i’ve found that tapping the keys fast instead of holding them will allow you to speed up the ladder without making noise. no shift needed
Idk what you did different if anything but the camera looks much better in this vid. Nice frames, speech lines up with the mouth movement nicely, can see individual hairs n your head etc. big improvement what ever you did.
I always feel like this game has a gripe with new players who don’t have a handle on the game-sense yet. Maybe if they added a better tutorial or mode for noobs it would help them improve.
Great video and channel, one thing about that clipping part of the video is that honestly I figured out that even if your movement around the map is bad, it's still better to be fairly confident especially when you have teammates since hesitation can really fuck up their movement
Hey Wilson, I really enjoy your videos and I am just now getting back into CS again. As someone who has played for a long time and I have the greys to show it I wanted to share what I learned here. First, I never thought about starting my peek deeper from the pocket of an angle to get momentum going and swinging faster, good detailed explanation of this. The tip about landing on a ladder holding shift is smart and sliding off has always been troublesome for me but you did a great job covering the ladder specifics. I'll be watching more and hopefully can pick up more tips. Also, used code Wilson on the monkey 😉😉
Also you can get a very fast peek ( if you are on a ladder) by hitting space. Also if you hold shift right after pressing space it just let's you cover more ground if you are still not seen by enemy and walking somewhere
Great coverage I Kew all this but didn't know I did haha. I would have added in tips to silently get down from spots that usually would make a sound. You have to practice but you crouch and then stand up as you fall and it really helps you reposition without giving your location away.
Been following for a while. Great to see the channel grow every week. Also great video, I will link this to my friends who are starting their CS journey
Y’know I just researched getting better because I was tired of getting shit on in casual lobbies, but I had no idea what kind of rabbit hole I just opened. The more you know, the more complex the game becomes. Holy.
It took me way too long to notice this but on your radar/mini map there is a circle that extends around you as you move. That is how far your sound travels. If someone is within the circle, they can hear you
I never in my life watched a movement guide yet applied all of these intuitively after like 3-5 years of cs. Thus im confident that every player who puts in enough playtime will eventually get there too. My advice would be to not overanalyze movement and rather let it "flow". It becomes like an instinct.
So much to learn about moving. And then you go on a server just to be killed in one shot 5 times in a row with the fucking AK before being able to start counter-strafing... Regardless whether you are far away, near, standing, running, crouching...
One of the things that is the hardest to counter is jiggle spraying. It is super annoying to die to and it really feels unfair if you don't understand what happened
Hi Wilson another great video. Similar to how you can peek without shifting and be silent if you time it right, you can go up or down the ladder by sprinting a short distance and pausing to avoid the sound queue. If you watch a pro demo on nuke you will see people do this all the time when going up and down heaven to be fast without a sound queue.
You can silent sprint the ladder just by tapping and releasing W + D or W + A using the technique you showed :D The best cadence is easy to get the hang of once you've practised it a few times.

You should have covered the run&gun style. Half the weapons in the game give no accuracy penalty while moving, allowing you to be evasive and mobile. You can even jump around in firefights, you're harder to kill because of the erratic and unpredictable movement. SMGs and Shotguns are great examples of this. If you're shooting the Mac10 or XM while standing still, you're not using the weapon correctly. Most movement guides fail to mention this. Counter-strafing only applies to rifles and some pistols.
Would love to see a tutorial on how S1mple did the jump peek against liquid on his Dust 2 1v3 (or 4). It looked almost like a valorant jump peek with the keyboard
