Of course these traits can be associated with other breeds too. And not all cavaliers do this, but at least in my experience.
1- They love humans
2- You will never go to the bathroom alone
3- You will « never » wear black again
4- They always act starved
5- They will always find your lap

I grew up with Cavs and when I moved away for school it was so weird to go to the bathroom alone! I had never known any other way lol
lol the barking out of nowhere part was so funny. They both must have saw something very interesting. I'm pretty sure all dogs want to join their pawrents in the bathroom.
They were so surprised by someone that walked passed the window lol 😂 oh living on the first floor… something new to them!
Ha ha my late boy was so different in so many of these ways… hardly shed, due to his previous grooms… wouldn’t DARE sit on my lap unless a storm or strange surrounding… never followed me to bathroom… however always scratched closed doors, slept a lot, total royalty..
My Reina fits all 8. Also, she’s very much like Milton, a cuddle bug.
The door thing is very funny… at home we joke saying she feels like we are her butlers 😂

Oh my gosh...all true 100% !! My sweetie loved to be with us ALL THE TIME !!! I loved her so much !!! We moved from the east coast to the west coast and my sweetie sat in the back with me for the whole trip so...I was so covered in hair !!!!! Always had to be with us and check out everything. Backwards sneezes happened to our dog once in awhile. Best love in the world...we called her Princess Lulu 🐶♥

I took my new Cavalier puppy to his first puppy manners class and sure enough, he wasn’t interested in any of the puppies, he just went from one human lap to the next!
I live in Sweden with my 10 year old cavalier and I laughed when I saw this because a lot is so true! He always come with me to the bathroom and if he misses that I go in to the shower he is right outside the door wyening til I comes out 😁 He sleeps under the cover with his head om my belly 🥰 But he loves dogs as much as humans, wants to say hello to everyone 🙂 He's the best! ❤

I can relate to all but especially the 1st one was surprising for me, good to know its normal for the breed to be more interested in humans than in dogs. My Luna will go say hi to all dogs but after few seconds she just goes back to chasing the leaves or eating some sticks, and she loves to say hi to ppl.

Beautiful dogs and the best breed I have owned. My Cav is 13 and still trying to chase cars. I love the entitlement after all they're royalty😀

Omgosh my caviler snorts whenever she gets excited or get a sudden urge it is so embarrassing every always looks at me… I do what u did….people always thinks she’s dying “I’m like she’s ok”
My Cavalier Morgan fit most of the things you mentioned but my Cavalier Madison is pretty much the opposite. She likes her own space, not food driven and loves both dogs and humans. Madison does like to be the boss and at 13 I guess she has earned it.

Just thought I would share- as the reverse sneezing was very alarming for us when it first happened and frightening for our pup. The reverse sneezing could be due to allergies or nose mites, our vet said it’s a symptom of their nasal passages being irritated. She gave us some interceptor and so far so good it’s pretty much stopped and definitely doesn’t happen as frequently as before.We also invested in an air purifier, not sure if that’s helped but it makes me feel better 😘
Thanks for sharing! They definitely don't reverse sneeze often though. Maybe once a week, at most!

Omg everything you said is so true. I can't remember the last time I went to the bathroom alone 😂 My Charlie does everything you said. I wouldn't have another breed though. Charlie is my 3rd Blenheim Cavalier, they are the best.

I have the opposite problem where I can’t wear light colours anymore because Boba is a Black and Tan 🤣😂. And omg 100% entitled! LOOOOOL

Oh god no! My B/T boy Barkley (he is 15) sheds like crazy!! It just does not show up as well since he is so dark. The same was true of Gypsy my Ruby girl.
My Buffy fits 7 of the 8. She LOVES other dogs. She barks like crazy at dogs that walk by and don't come play with her. She's interested in dogs first, kids second, then the adult humans. She's always looking for someone to play with. But she does love all humans too. They are such great family pets.
Omg those were all right!!!! Even though my puppy has a way different personality than my first dog those are the things that are exactly the same 😂🤣

Hi, my Ollie fits all 8, but especially 4 and 8. He is a therapy dog and when we are on visits people ask what is his breed and I say "Chow Hound."

My Cavalier is over 12 and the live if my life! Besides my husband! She is my best little girlfriend, however, she has never been a lap dog....she's the exception to the Cavalier rule. Doesn't want to snuggle or sit in lap. I wish she did. As she's getting older she seems to really not even want to be petted. The main reason she comes near us is if we've got food! The eternally starving part us soooo true! Any comments on this?
Herky is less cuddly than Milton! Usually only cuddles when she wants food lol
Our puppy Bailey isn’t food motivated. I actually have to remind him it’s dinner or lunch time

Speaking of "sleeping between" humans habit. Do you think you can prevent it in their puppyhood by crate training? Cause my husband and I are planning to get a Cavalier puppy and we are both really love to have the bed to ourselves.
Yes absolutely! Our little Boba sleeps in his crate and he loves it (so much sometimes he doesn’t want to leave). We do allow him to cuddle with us in bed occasionally but he always sleeps in his crate! Just make sure it’s a happy place for them and don’t use it as a punishment.
Our two sleep together in a large crate and they love to be together. It also makes it easier when you need to go out for a bit, they will be comforted by being in their safe space😊
Oh absolutely do not skip crate training! Herky and Milton only started sleeping in bed with us once they were "adult". So past the age of 1 for sure!
Our cav is not sleeping with us on the bed. We never allowed since day one to sleep in the bed. He tried but we were consistent. He can sleep in his bed, on the sofa, armchair but not on the our bed.
How do you cope with taking a vacation without them? Very nervous about leaving mine with a sitter for a week. Someone mentioned anti anxiety meds. Any suggestions?
Hi Andrea! We usually always bring them on vacation with us. Rare are the times that they are not with us. The only time I can think of was when we went to an all-inclusive beach resort
Actually in the wild thay will protect there pack when they are going to the bathroom so thay will protect u when u are in the bathroom as well.

And yep we have to say hi to every dog and human we pass outside and preferably have the human cuddle her😂 also anyone is welcome at our home (burglars included I guess) but squirrels, leaves, birds and weird shadows beware!!

We just get a Cava-Tzu, Ariel, and are new to your channel. yes I see the sleeping and entitlement already. However, if she is chewing on an edible chew toy she has growled at us. She was with a pack of other small dogs and when she would go up to the food bowel all the other dogs would just back away. Todsy she found the last piece of her chew toy and was running around looking for a place to hide it while whinging...i guess she doesn't realize that she doesn't have to be an alpha dog anymore. She is only 14 weeks old, super smart. But she definitely is not a lap dog, might be the shihtzu in her. But yes she loves people ❤ she loves food too. She scarfs down her dental treats in one breath!
My cavi watched tv. She loves watching tennis and barks at any animal on tv. Do your dogs do that? Is that a common trait of cavies?

I agree! I had a female & now a male Shih Tzu who were both similar to the 8 traits; except, they never overate or begged for food. Probably because I. fed them high quality food, with snacks sometimes too! They are sweet, loving, & esp. easy going dogs. The only time I ever saw them real emotional would be when I had to leave them at home when I had doctor appointments, etc.
