22:44 *Season 3
You know that, The Boys Season 5 will be released in 2026, because Gen V Season 2 will be released in 2025. That is, first, for Marie and her friends to escape from prison (probably), then they will meet Hughie, Frenchie, Butcher and the team in The Boys (including A-Train and Maeve), and in The Boys Season 5 they will take against Vought.
Respect to the Bull Moose!!!

I don’t think the virus will be strong enough because there’s no reason to reintroduce Soldier Boy unless he himself is Chekov’s gun. He has Homelander beat mentally, physically and emotionally. He’s the only person who actually can beat him.
@@Bman32x that and soldier boy is the only person who can permanently remove someone's powers like how he removed kimiko's in season 3. soldier boy needs to team up with the boys and then remove homelanders powers which should've happened in season 3.

She turned into The Leader before he even got his chance to debut in the MCU
Imagine she turns into Jack from Jupiter 😂
that scene was too much I had to look away
I think the shapeshifter proposed in part because it’s something Annie has thought of doing, and when they took her memories it affected the shapeshifter subconsciously.
Like, kinda like Kessler - she did it because she ACTUALLY wants to do it.
Depowering Homelander is more of a punishment than killing him. Then he becomes everything that he hates.
The problem is that it's established that depowered superheroes can get their powers back - they've got to put him down permanently

Nod to Karl Urban’s acting: when he gives in to using the tentacles, he does a subtle impression of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Kessler, showing how Kessler’s persona is in control.
Sage was a menace this episode. Her scene with Homelander just kneeling down picking up her notebook like it's the Deathnote, gave so much Akira/L vibes.
It's Kira not akira
And she says "next time.... LISTEN" yes😂
Kimiko screaming out “No!” as her first word in the show was probably the most heartbreaking moment of the show for me 😢. But epic finale overall, really picked itself up from the kind of weak start.
Sage walking away and saying “I wanted to see if I could” with a big smile was an awesome Lex Luthor vide. Everybody is a pawn and she just wants to prove that she is smarter and better than all of them.
I love how this show depicts a beautiful and wholesome moment, such as a proposal between a long time couple as an act of love amongst the crisis, and twists and bastardises it into a contorted evil. This is good writing. When a show makes you feel something, it's become shockingly rare
I swear, those last two minutes had so much packed in. Let me tell you, I JUMPED out of my chair when I saw Cindy again. She is so bad ass. Then they went and showed us Soldier Boy and I am super hooked. Cannot wait.
Do you think Homelander is using Cate to control Cindy? Just like Sam since he was schizophrenic prior to her fully controlling him.
@@Bman32xdefinitely likely. I don't think she could be reigned in any other way
I love Huggie's Quote "Maybe the way to beat the monster. is to be more human." I'm paraphrasing.
When MM's t-shirt says Dead Prez, it foreshadows the plot twist of the Vice Prez being killed.
Well it looks like tv Butcher has officially become like comic Butcher.
Initially I was thinking "This finale isn't very eventful". But that last 10 minutes was INSANE.
Also I'm so glad they didn't do the "Which one do I shoot?" trope with Annie and the shifter.
Also also, I think Starlight is now able to use natural photons for her powers. When she showed Hughie in the car, right before the boat fell, you would think if she was using the electricity of the car, it would have sputtered a bit.
And then the intensity of how she flies away seems way stronger than if she was harnessing the electricity of just the nearby vehicles.
That's actually incredibly powerful. Just give her light and she's golden. But, then again, her weakness would be the darkness as that point.
Agreed with your first point - it felt like a little bit of a letdown for a Boys finale and then the ending had me YELLING.
So she’s essentially like a captain marvel now?
@@KatSpicert For sure. I'm hoping they let her truly shine in the final season. Having her mostly on ice for season 4 has to be leading to some epic rise.
And I think darkness was already her weakness so she'll be good. But that also raises the question of if moonlight counts. It should, since it's reflecting the sun. But maybe her powers could have a more silver glow at night.
@@JanetsThingamajigs Yess. The whole Martial Law thing was insane.
You hit it on the head bringing up how this season is a focus on the characters. I think ppl calling this season bad are missing that this season is extremly character driven with great character arcs. When its all said and done ppl will look back on this season fondly
🎯🎯
Agree
@Theimpqala character arcs and developement arent filler. If you want a show with no substance and characters remain static thats fine
Exactly, so much character growth, and self reflection. It was really important that the characters discover who they are so they can really lean into the final season.
Funniest ending is homelander loses his power and become a milk connoisseur.
We gotta mention the nod to the show Supernatural when Bobby said "idgit".
And "Balls"
I was laughing so hard at that!
This guy never mentions Supernatural references, to the point where I really don't think they've even seen the show. This was one of the most obvious and nada.
Then "balls!"
I really feel like the crying in previous episode from Hughie, while yes occurring post dungeon, was way more about his father dying and Hughie having to put him down himself.
Also Annie does forgive Hughie and say he’s getting tested. I loved Hughie’s self pep talk. F yeah Hughie!
I like how Butcher covers her eyes so she can’t head pop him with direct eye contact
She's head popped people before without looking at them. The driver who was escorting her father back to prison. She rescued her father.
I think she needs concentration on her victim in order for her to successfully kill them. She was attacked by those tentacles so she didn't have any time to focus her power onto Butcher.
@@naturistfred sorry buddy but her powers are very well documented she needs direct line of sight to head burst, she was literally within seconds of the driver side window of the car when she rescued Stan, she can only cause mild headaches through walls. Her power is blood manipulation and like any power of course requires focus but line of sight limits her powers
Starlight actress killed it as her evil self...bet that felt good after seasons of being "nice"!
That last 30 minutes was intense! What a finale!
Really really hate the fact that Annie was pissed off at hughie for getting raped, she is such a badly written character this season
Ya that was pretty f’d up
Honestly it’s true though some women would act like that so I say great acting
I mean, she got over it pretty quickly
@@Mightyyy8 yea
Umm did you forget that she was literally being mentally tortured for days by the shapeshifter? It’s not shocking for her to be pissed and feeling betrayed when Hughie slept with shapeshifter Annie 20 times and he still couldn’t fully figure it out, or rather he didn’t want to. It’s stated he DID have suspicions but he ignored them because he was getting laid and everything was “perfect”. So yeah I think it’s justified for her to be pissed. It would have been stupid and bad writing if she was just all sunshine and rainbows after escaping, that would just make no sense. Besides, she moved on after she cooled down, but it’s understandable she was upset at first. This is Starlights best season by far in my opinion…
Ryan "Accidentally" used his powers? Fr? I saw a clear murder idk what ya all talking about
Yeah. I thought that too. Ryan definitely meant to murder Grace. You could see it in his eyes. And his reaction afterwards was even more telling.
It's debatable. Ryan definitely meant to shove Mallory out of the way to get out, and his reaction afterwards shows that he didn't much care what happened to her. But on the other hand as we saw with the 'bank robbery' setup a few episodes ago, even a fraction of his true strength is enough to send a full-grown man over a hundred metres and burst his head like a pinata on impact. If Ryan was really trying to kill Mallory there'd be nothing but jam on that wall.
@@Majere613jam is hilarious. But I agree. He was overwhelmed with conflicting emotions and pushed her too hard on accident.
He definitely murder her, it was shown that Ryan when he feels justified he has not issues with hurting other.
My prediction for Season 5 is that the virus will only strip Homelander of his powers. Which for him, will be WORSE than death
Wow, you might be on to a great storyline here🤔. What if the virus made all the Supes human again🤭
Exactly. He won't be killed off because I heard they might make a movie after the show ends.
Agreed
I really feel like sage was the highlight of this season this finale justified her arc.
I dont think she had a arc specifically, I just think she was given a chance to use the world as a game and she took it
She had some great scenes for a woman who reeked of Taco Bell and loneliness.

She should just push the button u don’t negotiate with kids who are on your responsibility to be a parent figure
@@Dylan-b1l I think her trauma from her grandkids dying is why she hesitated, she doesn’t want to trap Ryan and wants him to love her like an Aunt/Grandma so she is hesitant to close him away, especially with Butcher in there with him. But yes she shouldn’t have hesitated, if it wasn’t the spewing Homelander hate toward Ryan, the hesitation was definitely her demise

I didn’t like them killing off Newman. She was one of my favorite characters.
I just need to applaud you and your team for that breakdown of Black Lives Matter. When people aren't being intentionally ignorant, I think they understand that it's never been about some kind of superiority complex. That's insane. I've been Black my whole life and the one thing I've never been treated as in this country is "superior". It was always a plea to remember that our lives are just as valuable. So when shootings happen in our neighborhood, it shouldn't be treated any differently than when it happens in yours. When a little girl goes missing in our community, it should have that same Nancy Grace energy when one goes missing in yours. But that's not the case. And police brutality is just the most obvious example of it: if a Black person dies in police custody, most people are willing to accept that it probably was justified and not ask questions. Which leads to abuse. When cops know they COULD get away with killing or abusing a certain type of person, eventually that awareness becomes a tool for some officers. While the vast majority of cops are superheroes, there are inevitably a few assholes who know they CAN get away with it and abuse the system to do so. If our lives mattered just as much as white lives, heads would roll when injustice occurs. But instead, people accept it. It's the same way sex workers are treated re: homicide cases, thus why so many serial killers target sex workers. It's not that hard to understand, unless you just don't want to. But nothing is more insulting than arguing for civil rights and being told that that very argument is actually pretty uppity of us to make. Thanks for being real for a sec there.
Really glad the videomakers here realized they needed to at least explain the apparent political message instead of being safe and pretending the show wasn't saying anything about america's current strife with the possibility of a totalitarian government and far right movements.
Completely agree, more people need to read and actually understand your comment.
Couldnt agree more
Well done explaining irl situations and not misrepresenting anything. Great video. Love your channel
When Homelander told Firecracker to scoot down it was also a reference to Austin Powers: Goldmember.
When Dr. Evil told Mini-Me to scoot down and then leave. After Scotty got him the sharks with freaking lasers on their heads.
I predict Butcher will have to give the virus to himself then contract it to Homelander by spitting in his eye or something cool.
The Starlight-Huey conflict doesn’t get a ton of screen time, but it does seem that she comes to her senses after the initial shock has worn off. Her line about him needing to get tested is also played as a bit of a comedy beat, with Huey realizing it meant she didn’t want to catch anything from him and he got excited. The race to the finale meant some stuff ended up getting less attention, so the fallout of the shapeshifter thing fell flat. Likely they didn’t want to go over the same ground they did post TekKnight, and even then, Huey’s main trauma was over his dad. The other stuff just broke through his false front hiding his grief.
It’s also interesting that Huey was hit with back to back SA through different ways. With TekKnight he was forced to consent to something he didn’t want to do (before his identity was revealed). And with the shapeshifter, he gave consent under false pretences.
They are giving too much focus to the whole Hughie was SA. He was always focused about losing his father they were even telling him at the start of that episode that he should take time to grieve his father, he was really close to him and at the end of the day that hurts him the most. And yeah he was technically assaulted by the shape shifter but he wasn't bothered about it just look how he reacted when he told Annie about it.
Did you notice that Butcher had grey hair and was very sick but when he lets Kessler take control the majority of his hair goes back to black
I was so caught up processing everything that was happening at the end of the episode I didn't even clock that Kimiko finally spoke

@@monahands you’re absolutely right 😂
I had a hard time understanding Ryan's motivations this season. He literally cried for accidentally killing that stunt man then bullies that creep director (rightfully so) and seems to really enjoy that, he then stands up against the bullshit message that vought made him advertise on live TV and now he kills Mallory and doesn't seem to feel any remorse or rethink his actions and just walks away? Like I understand that he felt the pressure and that he's just a kid and Mallory shouldn't have threaten him to lock up but even so doesn't he realise that Homelander is not a good person? He literally tells Ryan that humans are just toys and kills people in broad daylight. And speaking of Mallory, her character felt very off this episode, she's not the type to lose her cool and act desperate especially when she knows that Ryan is very volatile.
Agreed. Ryan killing Mallory and walking away with no emotion didn't ring true. Plus where did he disappear too? Did he go back home to Homelander?

Sage seemed a bit manic in this episode. In a scary way... like getting a glimpse of the real insane evil genius behind the facade.
Same thing happened when talking to Victoria (RIP) about her grandmother.
I really wanted everything to have been a grand plan by her so was happy by the reveal.
The homelander violin theme used on sage solidified that
You forgot to talk about where Nuemans daughter was taken after she got killed
BTW Ashley definitely will get long hair which she can manipulate, Queen of Inhumans style
Is Homelander immune from getting his head popped by Newman?
How did they not catch Butcher at the end but got the others? Do I just assume he killed the people who came for him?
Probably
Most likely Sage was able to track them through their fake passports. Butcher is just off the grid now.
He didn’t stay with the team. He left once he took the virus.
The passports and get away plans were most likely made by mm and the cia. Now that homelander is w the president it makes sense that they intercepted their plans. Butcher left on his own
How will the Supes know who the Supes are that they are to kill? Maybe they don't know that Butcher is a Supe.

What Butcher did to Neuman was tragic for both of them. She died in front of her daughter and Butcher fell back into the cycle he was was trying to break but Ryan is turning evil.

You left out one pivotal "Hughie covered in blood" moment - the alley when he finds out Victoria is the head popper and working with Vought. It leaves him completely disillusioned prompting to him call Butcher to tell him they need to do things his way.
It's sad to see Victoria Neuman just gone without any fight or big head popper chaos.
Starlight making Hughie getting tricked about herself is a very accurate portrayal of a real life relationship.
Also " O captain my captain" was written for ol' abe licoln after his assasination
I can't believe people are asking so much for SC to leave politics out of the recap of a POLITICAL SHOW, and it's whole point is to make you uncomfortable about how true to life it is.

i thought the shapeshifter would have a HUGE impact on this new episode.
I mean, they did almost kill the president...
Well she kinda did, she was about to kill the President elect. Those fight scenes were the highlights for me.
@@naturistfred BIGGER than that. like it would take some REALLY smart sleuthing to figure out that the shapeshifter was not the real Annie.
@@DonEBrooke32 well she kind of did! Thanks to her, Annie and Hughie's relationship improved and also boosted Annie's "identity crisis" and got her powers back, 10× fold. the shape-shifter's biggest mistake, was turning into Annie. Hughie literally lives with her. Just a matter of time, the shape-shifter fumbles
I think it would be too unsettling for them to show the shape shifter actually assassinating the president elect, especially in today's real life politics. They even showed a disclaimer message in the beginning.
I thought it highly convenient that Annie just randomly gets her powers back as they're leaving.
It made me wonder if there was some sort of suppression field they drove out of range of. It doesn't really make a lot of sense, but neither does her just getting her powers back on that drive.
I rewatched Season 3 the other day, and Soldier Boy was undoubtedly the best part of it. Season 4 isn't terrible, but Soldier Boy became my favorite character of the show in Season 3, and Season 4 just feels too different without him. Heck, I was cheering for Soldier Boy at the end of Season 3. Homelander's plot armor is the only reason Butcher turned on Soldier Boy.
Jensen needs to come back in Season 5. I'd even argue that he could carry his own show. If you've watched Supernatural, you would know that he carried that show.
Spoiler
He will definitely come back, I think Ryan pissed off Homelander too much to the point he no longer cares for Ryan, and Ryan will have to either fight for himself, or speak Butcher out of it, Like I think Butcher is now too cruel because of seeing Ryan kill Mallory, to the point where not even someone like Lenny means anything to him, while Homelander sees Ryan as a validation token so Ryan will have to take a choise, to either take the side of Homelander and possibly Soldier Boy, or try and speak Butcher out of Genocide with The Boys,
Starlight may also bring in Supes like The Gen V supes, Ashley, A-Train, The Boys, and probably Ryan, and there’s some theories that OG Black Noir actually healed back and is just trying to get back at Homelander, and if that’s true, then I think Starlight will try to get in Black Noir, or Starlight will get Stan Edgar which might have to do something with Noir, but unless Noir is still alive somehow, maybe just maybe, but then again, Stan Edgar trusted Noir enough to let Noir be his Right Hand Man so maybe there’s something special about OG Noir that hasn’t been shown, other than the fact he was THE LOYAL VOUGHT WORKER
Damn he’s right Hughie is always covered in blood lmao
Annie's position can be explained by her self doubt. She didn't blame Hughie, really. Reading between the lines, she hated herself in that moment, that the person she wanted to be was what the shapeshifter did as her. She wanted to be fun person that Hughie would propose to.
I believe Annie knows she's wrong for what she said to Hughie and I believe that she will eventually admit to it and forgive him and her arc will be her attempting to be the person she wishes she was.
Anyone else think Annie’s block from her powers was more Neuman? We suspect she caused Hughie’s dad to have a stroke, she could have been messing with Annie to hold her powers. She didn’t get them back until Neuman’s “death”.
If you’ve seen Gen V… Neuman might not be gone just yet.
@@Bman32x no I think Annie lost her powers because she doubted herself. Just like spider Man in spider Man 2.

I thought Colton wasn't supposed to know he's in a TV. I reacted the same way Kimiko reacted.
Ok - anyone else think that Butcher would be a Warlock with a Fiend patron in DnD? His scenes with Kessler are a PERFECT deal-with-the-Devil dynamic.
The parallel of the rhetoric at the RNC.. wow
Butcher must be insanely overpowered now to be able to effortlessly take out Neuman like that in one stroke. She is a supe who was able to manipulate peoples’ blood into causing their heads to explode, was invulnerable to Homelander’s laser beams (to an extent), and even bullets didn’t phase her. Like holy shit!
Just like in the real world, I bet half of the people will find your 100% accurate explanations sore to the buttocks...you know, the F your feelings folks, who sure do have a lot of feelings....
And yet they're somehow into The Boys, which is kind of stunning. Are they not making these connections themselves when they watch the show?
Ryan didn't kill Grace by accident. He knew what he was doing. Ryan killing his mom, Rebecca, was an accident. Ryan killing the stunt guy was an accident. Ryan knew exactly what he was doing, when he killed Grace the same way he killed the stunt guy. Ryan is a killer now. That's why Butcher embraced his dark side.

so annoying yeah
Just fast forward through it.
How does every easter egg channel not know the significance of "oh captain my captain" being a reference to another assasinated President, Abe Lincoln.
What happened to Hughies storyline of "not being ok" to the next episode where he gets basically raped by the shapeshifter, even being pegged, and then he catches hell from Starlight for it.
Poor Hughie is the only decent person on the show and even Starlight treats him like crap.
Sure she can be upset but she acts like its his fault and makes him feel bad about having sex with someone he thought he was in love with and just got engaged to
She was chained up in a basement, underfed, forced to shit in a bucket (you can see it one of the scenes), basically tortured. She learns the man she loves has been happily sleeping (albeit unknowingly) with her torturer. She has already killed the torturer, but she's still angry about everything and, like many of us do, she takes it out on the person she loves. It also ties into her whole image issue she's had all season.
She soon after cools off.
Yeah, they don't give enough time to Huey not being ok. It'd have been cool if she threw in a "Sorry, it's not your fault" sure. But Starlight's reaction is pretty human and understandable. It's fine.
@@StatusMusicDesignexactly he also loved the sexy version of starlight I’d honestly be upset and sad if this happened to my man I’d be upset because he fell for another version of me instead of literally ME but then I’d feel sad because my boyfriend got graped so yeah there’s no wrong or right I guess both are normal emotions but I do feel for hughie it’s sad
An easter egg that you haven't mentioned: when they were at the bunker and Robert Singer calls MM an "idjit", and then saying "balls" when he shoots the golf ball and misses, is a reference to actor Jim Beaver's other Robert "Bob" Singer character in TV series "Supernatural", another Eric Kripke's creation.
For Soldier Boy " He is back 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤ "
Respect for describing recent historical events accurately and objectively ❤
Thanks for another season of covering the show
Just to mention it ends with a Nirvana song which is joked about at the V52 expo. The song is Heart Shaped Box which contains the line "I wish I could eat your cancer when it turns black" which is likely a reference to Butcher
2:58 he says the thing 😹
kimiko stopped talking to save her life and started talking again to try and save frenchies
18:19 there’s an overlap in audio
annie is quite justified for being angry at huey. imagine being held for 10 days while being impersonated and all the while you partner lives and sleeps with the imposter to the point of being engaged??? anyone would be pissed, what matters is that he was sorry and she forgave him. they were both victims.
16:00 I read Annie's treatment of Hughie to be coming from a place of PTSD and frustration. She's been chained up in a basement for ten days while her boyfriend has been having a great time oblivious to the fact that she's been missing; nobody is going to be in the calm state of mind needed to be polite in that situation.
BUT, minutes later she passively let's him know that the relationship is not over when she orders that he is getting tested for every std because she doesn't want to catch syphilis, and Hughie picks up on this implication of future sex and celebrates.
So calm down and let the characters have their natural reactions.
Thank you!! So tired of people not getting her reaction was normal.
I didn’t see if anyone else mentioned this yet, but one of the Easter eggs you missed was when the President (Robert Singer) was practicing his golf putting and said “balls” a couple times. This is a reference to his character Bobby in Supernatural who said that often!
Re: Starlight;
She was upset that nobody noticed she'd been replaced, and that the shapeshifter being dtf non stop apparently made Hughie want to propose. She felt rejected.
That's why Hughie telling her all the little things that made him realise something was wrong calmed her down.
And once she had time to process she made the comment about him getting tested, like "I'm not happy with what happened but I'll get over it"
omg someone with ears
