I'll never forget the first time I saw the first two minutes of this video. Adventures in the Sin Trade, Part 2 was such a rough episode to get through (spider Gabs anyone?), but then they hit you with these two minutes and they are absolutely transcendent. The vision is quietly tragic and beautiful, and yet at the same time so uplifting. The hair and the dialogue and the way they smile at each other... It makes the whole journey to get here worth it. Xena's reaction is so perfect and true to her character. She takes the only relevant piece of information that she cares about at the moment from the vision, that Gabrielle is alive, and will deal with the rest later. Great writing and story-building from the Xena team.
munstify That moment that Xena realizes Gabrielle is alive and finds her will always made me tear up, for love is more powerful than fear/hate.
Claire stansfield is brilliant as alti and she showed up at one of the xena conventions to surprise Lucy and renee on UA-cam and lucy gived her a big hug xx

These episodes are easily some of the best of the series. So wild and interesting. This was an incredible start to a season. Blew us out of the water. Alti is an incredible villain. Absolutely brilliant writing. Props to Joseph LoDuca for showing off with the score here. Absolutely love it.

It’s breathtaking. The cinematography as well is just stunning. The reflection in the shield during winter - never seen that ever anywhere. The floating flights through the forest so ahead of everything. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon basically copied the style.

Lucy Lawless was just perfect for role. She had an unique connection to the character that only few people have. It was meant for her.
Xena's death is a lesson that no matter how much atonement you try....you can never get away from the consequences of your past evil.
yea now lucy wants to undo that and give the fans the endiing they deserve. having started watching again i can why she wants too.
I don't agree. Evil is when one doesn't know better and don't have a sense of service to others. Xena was evil but lived the rest of her life trying to defend all that was good and stamp out what she herself used to be, used to be. Hence, service to others. See??

I'm very curious, this was the first time xena saw that vision and Gabrielle had already short hair, that means she got the haircut earlier and was wearing a wig until the "between the lines" episode??
Renee wore a wig or the show was filmed so many episodes in advance they filmed the crucifix scene very late then just put the scenes in the early episode.

@Răzvan Mihai that wasn't what I was talking about. I was talking about the flash forward scenes in the early season where Renee still had her original hair but had short hair in the flashforwards
@@jameslyon2338 Actually Renee wore a wig for the vision scene before she cut her hair for "Between the lines". If you look closely the vision scene and the scene in "Ides of March" look very different. They reshot the scene again.
First time I saw Gabby's body kinda jiggled during this scene(s4ep9 she jiggles even more) 20 something yo me was like she looks so soft and hmmm why do I want to touch her. I think this scene is in like 4 episodes filmed at different time cause sometimes Gabby has on a wig. Her body was perfection in this series.

Love xena but it did have a lot of references to biblical stories giving another character the credit. Goliath, Isaiah, crucifixion, miracles of jesus, oh birth of a baby without involving a man, etc. Makes me wonder if it was made to discredit the Bible.
