Here’s a little story about Stateboro Blues; my wife who is Japanese, from Japan, I used to play Blind Willie McTell’s CD, which she linked very much. Never was exposed to the Country Blues, America’s great treasure. We were staying in Charleston, SC. We drove south to another city. I didn’t notice, but there was a road sign, ‘Stateboro - turn left’. My wife exclaimed “hey, that’s the song’s name that Blind Willie sang! Quite something to have notice that, and with excitement! His music transcend cultures and time!
@@anastasiapattison4393 I have not, but I will now. Thanks. I'll be back... Edit: I completely forgot about David Bromberg's version. I remember it from 1974. Never heard of Chris Smithers. Really like them both. Always liked Bromberg's sound, in general.
Nice rendition. And that's a beautiful 12, a reproduction of Lead Belly's Stella, if I'm not mistaken. Drop -D tuning, with everything tuned down a fourth, yes?
@@jpreali Yup. I keep my Huddie-like 12 (ladder-braced, flat fingerboard, tailpiece, 12-fret, long scale) tuned the same way, using a .60 for that lowest string.
Hey I’m trying to get to sound right on the low e string but I can’t get it even on my 12 string is it because your guitar has less frets maybe? I got it tuned 4 keys down let me know!

Can you describe to me what doesn’t sound right? When you tune a 12 string down, you must also use heavier strings, that could be the problem.
Leadbelly,,, eat your heart 💓 out
