    This is such a good word! "Worship leaders should be theologians first and musicians second." It's so refreshing to hear how important this is in the church. Thank you for this series!

      100% agree. We need sound, rich lyrics in worship.

    “Christ by nature is the denial of self, and art by nature is self expression. So we’re constantly torn in half.”
    What an interesting perspective for creatives to have! I’ve been battling with the identity of being an artist/creative in the church. We see so much beauty and creativity in creation itself. The arts in the church were pushed aside for so long, and it’s exciting to see creatives coming out of the woodworks in the digital media age.

    I LOVED Telecast!! Still one of my favorite bands. Saw them live in Eugene back in their day. Remember it still, and play the CD’s once in awhile.

    As an artist I really battle with self denial and self expression. I find it really hard to find a middle ground. I'm so relieved to find that I'm not the only one finding it this way.

    I adore Josh and his music, he did a stint as worship leader in my old church and it was awesome, his true seeking and discernment picked up on some major issues in the background and he left a short time later (want to say less than 6 months), it was very sad to see him and his family leave but I'm glad he did. It wasn't long before the church completely imploded due to the pastor and his hidden sin filled hypocrisy. This was one of those "production" churches. Very happy to see him grow and mature through time.

    Excellent word on self denial/self expression. I think the crux lies here: self denial/God expression. "Our" creativity needs to be surrendered to God's leading. Nothing ever really was _ours_ to begin with. We need to lay His gifts on the altar and give them back to Him.

    I had the honor of hearing you live at a Revival mens conference in Temecula, California a few years back. I've been listening to you ever since. Your style and voice are amazing. Music is so powerful in bridging my Christianity and love for Jesus. I feel really connected to your music and it really draws me close in my faith. God Bless Josh! Would love to meet you again.

    Love Josh White’s music. I was fan way back in the Telecast days. Saw them live at the Door in Dallas, Tx around 2001 or 2002? Some time around then.

    Creativity is such a refreshness. It is simple, complex with lots of beauty in it. I love to see how other people use their creativity with and for god. I paint with god, and it is great to feel gods presence while painting...
    Thank you magnify studio for this upload, be blessed.

    It's an interesting transition moving from somewhere called "Solid Rock" to "Door of Hope" . . .
    But what does Josh mean when he says "Resurrection life is dependent upon a daily death of Jesus"? specifically the "daily death" part.

    • @iothemighty
      @iothemighty 3 роки тому +2

      I think he's talking about laying down your desires to do what's best for the Kingdom of God

    • @NavyJonesMusicShorts
      @NavyJonesMusicShorts 3 роки тому +3

      @@iothemighty Yeah I'm not sure. I do agree with your statement, and agree that Christ's resurrection couldn't have happened without his Death. I suppose what I want to try and reconcile in my thinking, is the "daily" part, and maybe I'm coming from it from the wrong angle, but Christ Died once for all, or at least that is my understanding. Based on verses like 1 Peter 3:18 and Hebrews 9:28 etc. I don't understand it in this context but am open to do so.

      @@NavyJonesMusicShorts as far as I understand it, I might be wrong, but I think it might be a poetical way of saying that you need to be reminded/remind yourself "daily" that He died for you. Think that's how that works :)

    This sounds like such unnecessary confusion... Death to self means death to sin in ones own heart and life. Perhaps we need to be more meek and modest in the way we express ourselves, but there is no strict dichotomy between artistic expression and loving God. I find that more than anything, western artistic Christians are mostly burdened by wealth and insecurity due to actual habitual sin. We need purity of heart, we need to put sin to death first. ("The acts of the flesh are obvious" Galatians 5:19-21) And after that we need to not be suspicious of spiritual boogeymen or assume that we know a persons heart. (Titus 1:15) Please take that with a grain of salt.
