I like the looks and I don't mind the plastic parts because they are easy to clean! I just traded in a 2016 Chevy Colorado in to get a new 2017 Frontier Pro-4x and I love it! I had the Chevy Colorado for a year and had certain electronic issues with the steering and air conditioning. The Frontier has heated rear mirrors, a moon roof and backup sensors while the Colorado doesn’t offer these options. The Frontier's 4-wheel drive switch is well placed on the right side away from the knees and has an indicator in the dash panel while the Colorado does not. I did lose several mpg with the Frontier and have a smaller 6” display screen instead of an 8” one, but so far the navigation system hasn’t froze up on me like the Colorado did. I regret not looking into the Frontier before I bought the Colorado.
I've had my Pro-4X for three months. It is a fantastic truck! The dealer installed the step rails, trailer hitch, and bed extender at no cost. He moved my Nissan tool box from my 2010 at no cost. I believe I got a great deal. This is my 3rd Frontier! I've never had any major repairs on any of them. Can't beat that.
I'm on O'ahu and I'll simply say: a 2000 Tacoma 4x4 is listed for 29k.... I haven't seen ANY truck that offers all this for that affordable price. Sunroof, roof rack, bed cover, and 4x4, all for much less than most Tacomas. The only downside I cna see is resale value and no crawl control. Solid review! I'd definitely buy one after watching this.
Great review!! Too many review channels either sound so salesman-ish or so nit-picky, you don't get a good sense of what the vehicle is really like. You give a fair and balanced review...keep up the good work!!

Lol, what features? The Tacoma has better tires, wireless charging for your phone, power rear window, full outlet in the back, better fuel economy, nicer interior. For 2,000 more I’ll take the Tacoma. This truck is outdated, wish they updated soon.
@@MrSoull And so is your Tacoma. The 2020 Taco still has rear drum brakes, weak ass engine, and shifty transmission. As for tires, you can buy better ones after the stock rubber wears down.
Just got a Frontier Pro4x as a rental while my Ram1500s in the shop. Gotta say I love the mid size style with the crew cab. Great little pickup! Gonna get one for my wife.
Two downsides of this truck: -Gas mileage -Turning radius(so bad to the point it’s comparable to the Peterbilt 348 that I drive for work). I think you are the first reviewer to mention that the tires are 75 series. The website doesn't seem to mention that either. In addition to 75 series tires, other things on my want list (for a pickup or utility vehicle) are: manual transmission; 2-speed transfer case; manual transfer case linkage; deep dish steel wheels; manual windows, manual door locks and manual seat adjustments. Do you happen to know how many of the things on my want list are available on the SV V6? How many are available on the PRO 4-X? My wife and I have taken our 4-cylinder base model '89 Isuzu Trooper and our 4-cylinder base model '99 Jeep Wrangler on roads that we suppose were at the absolute limit of those vehicles' capability but we don't drive off road so I appreciate that the PRO 4-X doesn't seem to have any decals that say, "OFF ROAD".
Roger Metzger manual 6spd tranny in sv as well as pro4x is not only available, but awsome (I have one in my pro4x and love it)... manual seats and Windows are available, but I font know if you can get the manual Windows with a V6. 2 speed T case is standard for 4x4, but it's electronic, not manual. Hope this helps.
Great review, clear, no nonsense, no fluff, got right to the facts that matter and got some good footage. But dude... what is up with that music?? Some Irish jig played on a Casio? 😂
I'm in the middle of trying to own one so while Nissan is fighting with the bank I'm just waiting to see if the deal goes through or not. Ive had it for 3 weeks, the pro4x trim, and so far it's handled everything I've thrown at it with ease. It's deff an all around truck easy city driving and parking and weekend monster on some fun trails.. My rating is an 8/10... If only better gas mileage and updated interior tech
Yeah that is true Joe.. the more tech you have the more issues you could have down the line... I ended up getting a 2017 Jeep Rubicon JK haha even less techy than the Frontier 4X
I love the fact that you can still get this truck with a V6 and 6 speed manual, even in pro 4x trim. That's definitely the way to go because that extra gear will help with fuel economy and provide a much sportier driving experience.
D LG I have the manual in my p4x and I absolutely love it. I get mid 20 mpg on rural highways going 55. Dips to 20 at 70mph. Also, in my opinion, adds significant driving experience on and off road. I have unlimited control off road in low range 4x4. I love it...

Nice review! I'm on my third Frontier KingCab SV 4x4 and really liked them all except for the front seats. There is no adjustment for height, tilt or lumbar. I know the KingCab Pro-4x does those adjustments with manual controls. Are they more comfortable seats? Also how does the ride compare to the SV 4x4?
Unfortunately, we haven't had the opportunity to test any of the other trim packages of the Frontier, Nissan Guy, so we aren't able to make that comparison for you. What we can tell you is that we appreciate your comments and the kind words. Thanks for watching!
ANCIENT man, we used to rent these things out like crazy then the Colorado hit and that became the main "smaller truck" rental. the worst thing about this truck had to be the sound dampening erm no maybe the on road ride quality where you get chatter and bounce (unless you have a good 500 lbs in the back). nissan really needs to make a new one all together soon...
We agree that an update is due, especially with the powertrain. However, for off-road capability fresh off the dealer lot, this PRO-4X is one to consider. Surprisingly, our tester was fairly quiet inside, for such an aggressive pickup, and pretty much all of trucks with leaf springs in the rear chatter like that, big or small. Thanks for your comments, justing bouche. We appreciate you!
when i say it chatters, sure all trucks do to some extent, just they are more refined (look at the 16 tacoma and 16 colorado) thats what i meant. :) thanks for the review man.
justin bouche We've only driven the new Colorado for a brief amount of time at launch, and still haven't gotten our hands on a current-gen Tacoma yet, so we can't make that comparison. But this Frontier was par with the big trucks from Ford and Toyota, as far as chatter is concerned, with the F-150 being a little more composed. But only a little. As we alluded to before, it's just something owners have to expect when going over speed bumps or something similar.
Aloha- Quick question any detail information regarding the new redesign Nissan frontier that’s coming out in 2021? Will it come with the new Nissan safety shield? Will it come with pro pilot assist? I am a proud customer I own the Nissan rogue SV 2016, now I own a Nissan pathfinder SL 2018. The titan is too big to fit in my garage. If the frontier is redesign and include all the technology I would love to get one. Mahalo
Aloha, Ronald Strode. Rumor has it the 2021 Frontier will have some advanced technology, but we'll have to wait the better part of a year to find out for sure. And if course, added tech means additional cost, too, so keep that in mind. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I’m 24 looking into getting my second vehicle but the first in my name to help my credit and build a name for myself, I really want a truck with 4x4 that I can take to the beach and go fishing with. And this looks like the perfect truck for that for the price especially now almost 4 years later, anyone have any real world use of this truck that can have pros/cons on it? Except for the interior of course.
Again... Excellent .... I am looking for a Frontier w / Manual Transmission and having a devil of a time Some folks say they are numerous... I am finding that folks that have them are keeping them. I may settle for an Auto just because of your vid... Thanks again
Thank you, Daniel Gunter. It would depend upon if Nissan has one available to send us, so we'll see what we can do. Be sure to hit the bell icon so you'll be among the first to know. Thanks for watching!
Very professional and thorough review, however I much prefer the Tacoma in this class, just based on resale value, it's a winner. The GM twins have a bad reliability record. I have been looking for a used Taco and they're just too damn expensive, and hard to find as well, owners just don't want to dump them.
Thank you, pedro fernandez. We're happy you enjoyed our review. We agree, the Tacoma does maintain high resale value, warranted or not for each individual vehicle (i.e.- some are not taken care of as well as others, but still command higher prices than other midsize pickups), which is why it is important to have other options available on both the new and used markets. The midsize pickup market is, well, picking up, and while this Frontier does have a few signs of aging, this particular PRO-4X model does offer some decent features for off-road capability out of the box. We're still waiting to get our hands on a current-gen Tacoma or GM equivalent so until then we have to defer our comparisons. We appreciate your comments and thanks for watching!

I'm 6'-3" Truck has plenty of room front to back people who complain about the space obviously never tried a Tacoma you might as well get between two wedges because the backset is useless a 4 year old couldn't get back there and you complain about frontier space lol lol lol lol
Unfortunately, we do not know, John Odell. You might be able to find some information online, though, possibly searching for "2016 Nissan Rogue brown color code." Not sure if you'll find anything, but it's worth a try. Sorry we couldn't help any further, but thanks for watching!
Sadly the 4 banger does about the same as the V6. And its gutless. Probably about 20 MPG combined. My Pro 4X with 4.0 gets about 18 city right now and 21 hwy. In short, the only reason one buys the 2.5 4 banger is cost. Base truck with 5 speed manual and 2.5 probably 20K dollars. And the like V6, very reliable as well. They are all pretty much bullet proof at this point. Price and reliablity is why these still sell in reasonable numbers. Almost 80K units last year which is higher then many years of the past.
I have a 2015 Nissan Frontier King Cab with the 4 banger and automatic. It is now my daily driver. I bought it used with 38,000 miles on it. It came with a bed liner (not sprayed in). I have added bed rail covers (from Nissan dealer on Amazon), step rails and bed cover. I have a custom made (color matched) cap on order because I need to haul weather protected items taller than what will fit under the bed cover. I consistently average 20 mpg but I don't do any stop and go driving. It didn't come with a back up camera so I have a wireless one on order from Garmin that will display on my Garmin Drivesmart 65 GPS. I am happy with my purchase. It does everything I need it to do.
Unfortunately, we don't remember, sam ochoa. We do state the color of each vehicle in our reviews now, but we didn't back then. Sorry we couldn't help more. Thanks for watching!

Good video 👍
Thanks for watching, D M!
Good review man, love mine!
Older video, but good job, Chris.
Thank you, Shay McQuaid. We appreciate you!
Really nice detailed review best probably
We appreciate your comment, Alexandre Alferan. Thanks for watching!
Great review 👍
Thanks for watching, David M!
Aloha-
Quick question any detail information regarding the new redesign Nissan frontier that’s coming out in 2021?
Pretty solid review
Thanks for watching, Nicholas Sorrentino!
Excellent ... answered my questions before I asked! ;^)
Glad we could help, TMB247. Thanks for watching!
Again... Excellent .... I am looking for a Frontier w / Manual Transmission and having a devil of a time
Some folks say they are numerous... I am finding that folks that have them are keeping them.
I may settle for an Auto just because of your vid...
Thanks again
Love my 2019 P4X despite it being a fossil
At the end of the day, that's all that really matters, Jim Jimjim. Enjoy your truck and thanks for watching!
Great Review! No BS
Thanks for watching, David Rogers!
nice review!!
We need nissan frontier pro4x with nissan gtr nismo engine in it and borla 3" exhaust system with 305-65R18 tyres to destroy compation
Gained a new subscriber. Great review.
Thank you very much, ibdustin15. We appreciate your support!
Great review. Can you do one on the 2019 model?
We appreciate your comments and thanks for watching!
excellent review,
Thank you, Eric Fenske. And thanks for watching, too!
I got rid of my 2018 Colorado because the 2019 Frontier pulls better with that 5-speed auto trans.
Great review.
Thanks
You're very welcome, shizzle1975. Thank you for watching!

Thank you, Greg Benson! We appreciate the kind words. And thanks for watching, too!
I would love to buy this truck but can't get around the fuel economy 😩
How to buy this vehicle?
How tall are you? I'd like to know so I can get an estimate on how tall the truck is.
Chris likes to say he's of "average height," but we figure he's no taller than 5'10. Hmm. Maybe that is average? At any rate, hope this helps, Alfonso Rivera. Thanks for watching!
I'm 6'-3" Truck has plenty of room front to back people who complain about the space obviously never tried a Tacoma you might as well get between two wedges because the backset is useless a 4 year old couldn't get back there and you complain about frontier space lol lol lol lol
nice job
Thank you, masmls02. We appreciate the kind words. And thanks for watching, too!
What is the color code on this one ? eaf ?
Unfortunately, we do not know, John Odell. You might be able to find some information online, though, possibly searching for "2016 Nissan Rogue brown color code." Not sure if you'll find anything, but it's worth a try. Sorry we couldn't help any further, but thanks for watching!
Our Pro-4X has the 6 Speed
Nice, Eugene Crabs. Enjoy it and thanks for watching!
Nice
Thanks for watching, Jean Kenold Augustin!
My 2002 ranger gets all round 28-30mpg how much does the fronteir 4 banger get
Sadly the 4 banger does about the same as the V6.
Does it come with a 6 Speed Manual?
In Canada... the Dealer here said no...?
What's the name of that truck's color?
Unfortunately, we don't remember, sam ochoa. We do state the color of each vehicle in our reviews now, but we didn't back then. Sorry we couldn't help more. Thanks for watching!
does the cage come of or can i buy one without the roof cage
You can get it without the roof rack and crossbars, El 7-7. Those items are included with the Luxury Package. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Can anyone tell me if the ground clearance on the *KING CAB* Pro-4X is the same as the *CREW CAB* version of the Pro-4X? I'm having a hard time finding an accurate side by side dimensional comparison of these two.
Hi, ccashel. It is our understanding that the 4x4 versions of both the King Cab and Crew Cab Pro-4X Frontier have a ground clearance of 8.9 inches. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
That was all two wheel drive territory easily.
Great video! I Love my Frontier 4x4 got videos on my page !
Thanks for watching, JWJ!
Very nice truck, but I LOVE my TRD OFF-ROAD Tacoma!! YEEHAAA!!!
Do these come manual?
Mr. Céspedes yes, a 5 speed manual for the 2.5L and 6 spd for 4.0L v6. Highly recommended by yours truley... I've got one in my pro4x, I love it...
It's nice but a ram 1500 gets better fuel economy. It needs a refresh.
Stay tuned, Robby47. A little birdie tells us 2017 may be the year! Hopefully, we'll be back in a few months with an update. Thanks for watching!
I didn't like the limited space in the back seats
Yeah, neither did Chris, especially when he had to do a number of takes getting in and out. LOL It was rather amusing to watch, though. We appreciate your comment, Angel Galegos. Thanks for watching!
How is that a new vehicle and has rust on it already
pause @ 2:31
when there will be a next gen frontier
Supposedly, the Frontier will be redesigned in 2017 as a 2018 model. Hope this helps, praco Praco, and thanks for watching!
Bed has no tie downs, kinda hard to pick up something at Home Depot
It comes with cleats that slide down/lock on floor and side rails. This is even better because you can decide where you want to tie down loads. Comes with six I think and you can buy more from Nissan. ua-cam.com/video/46qwHyOzK8Y/v-deo.html
i bought a 2016 frontier 3 mo ago. i have 2 complaints. sometimes if i get on the throttle then off, then back on the engine doesnt come back on soon enough. cleaning bugs off the windshield is very hard.
On 2:28 the way he measures, come on you dont use a measuring tape like that. Like the video tho.
That’s my truck!! Lol
Really liked this video. Thank you for all the great info. Did you notice the small compartments under the back seat? You can see it here: ua-cam.com/video/OTbXSKrHj9E/v-deo.html
Thank you for the kind words, 100 Rental Cars.
First comment :>
Winner!
The engine is a pain to work on
Those tires are far from "loud or aggressive" lol
