I remember taking this same route up Avon Mtn on my bike and hitting 46mph down the backside. Quite exhilarating!!! So interesting to see that runaway truck ramp at 4:30, I was literally just reading about the horrific incident that spurred its creation last night.
i drive 44 from avon to west hartford whenever i see my grandma, and its so nice cuz all i have to do is go down lovely, and turn right. then its straight for the rest of the drive. i love connecticut very much!
This ride does not appear very different from what I did in 1967. I applaud the people of Avon for making sure that they have kept the colonial quality of the town. Things have not been knocked down. Things have not been over built. This is how it should be, prior to living in Avon, I was in a suburb of Pittsburgh. That suburb was loaded with the most unbelievable mid century, modern unique architecture. The exit off the Pennsylvania Turnpike contained many privately owned motels. They were fabulous! If you go there now, it is all dull, boring uninspired chainstores. Avon has succeeded where Pittsburgh failed.
Hope you enjoyed the ride
