- I have always been a tent camper but since I have started backpacking and hiking into my camp sites I wanted to give Hammock Camping a try. In this video I parked my car and hike in 20 kms to my campsite. I hike through the beautiful Gatineau Park one of my favourite spots in the entire world. I had a fun hike in, I had an encounter with a bear, I saw a few deer and I was chased by a skunk...that was quite the adventure. In the end, I actually enjoyed sleeping in the hammock so I will give it a try again.
Thanks for watching, I always appreciate it.

This was a fun trip. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy Hammock Camping, but it was fun. I will try it again. Do you Hammock Camp?
New sub here, I hammock camp and yes it can be a challenge at times to find the ideal trees to hang from. Hard to see if you had another loop on your strap to suspend the hammock a little more taut. I've found I prefer to suspend mine more than I would think I'd like and then sit in it. The straps wrap around the tree tighter and the materials stretch some and I end up with a great hang. Now back to the video.
Nice camping trip. Thank you for having me along. You have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and I’ll be looking forward to seeing you again soon.
cool bear shot, and then skunk encounter lol id be running too , now that was funny. beautiful area , nice lake view .
Wow that little bear so funny.
Ya it really was. I wish I saw the little bear I would have loved to get some better footage of him, but I kinda like having this story to tell.
nicely done. Fun channel. Vids are well done and congrats on that 20 km hike and hammock.
Getting ready to do the same thing in a few days---outstanding video
Ha great video Dave. Your footage looks incredible. Love the bear sighting and the skunk chase, those skunks are the really danger in the forest! I'm old school so I am not sure if I would enjoy hammock camping. Thanks for the video, do you ever do fishing while you camp?
Gatineau Park is amazing. We were just there! Our video should be out in a couple weeks. Great video Dave!
Thanks, ya Gatineau Park is one of my favourite places. I'll have to check out your video when it's done.
I like the hammock idea I will have to try that. I'm no so big on the tarp idea lol Great video Dave.
ha, thanks, ya tarp camping takes a lot of getting used tol!
Great video. You sure had an eventful hike in.. lol Glad you enjoyed the hammock. I’ve been hammock camping for many years. There is a learning curve, but once you figure it out you’ll enjoy hammock camping all the more. Thanks for sharing your trip. I enjoyed it.
Thanks Dennis. I have learned to love the hammock. It is so relaxing after a long hike in or bike in to camp. I am still learning proper techniques but so far so good.
I always enjoy your trips. Production quality is top notch 👌. Hammocks are the way to go! Great video.
Thanks, this was a fun trip. I'm surprised I enjoyed the hammock, I'm old and set in my ways but I liked it!
Hey Dave, looks like another great trip, not sure how you fit all that stuff in what seems like a tiny back pack, lol. Hammock camping looks fun, I love a good hammock. Thanks for bringing us along! 😎👍🏻
Thanks Jason, it was a fun trip. I struggle with packing my stuff. First time my pack was too heavy, this time I forgot a few items, but I made the best of it.
Great video Dave. I found it very relaxing.
Thanks Jon, this was my most relaxing trip yet, other than the skunk!
Love Gatineau park, didn't know there was hike in camping. I'll try and look into it. Also love hammock camping, an under quilt is a game changer.
Lac Philippe has walk in campsites but basically you park your car and walk about 100 feet to your site. So I decided to create my own hike in camping trip. This site was at Taylor Lake and it was really nice. The hike was good as well.
Hey, I'm looking to do the exact same thing you did! What campsite did you stay at and where did you park your car?
Nice. I think I was at campsite 25 at Taylor lake. It's a nice site but if you search there are some nicer sites that are more private. I parked in Chelsea at a friends place. I planned to park at the Gatineau Park visitor centre but I don't think they want people parking overnight. Have a good time.
