    Heya man, I've found your channel after being forced to take an extended break from work due to some mental issues I have. To spare myself from extra depression, I have re-ignited my hobby as a car guy, and searched youtube for people modding early gen Mazda 3s, since I have the hatchback gen 1 with the 2.3, been really enjoying your videos, the past couple days. I just replaced my rear shocks, my starter, and battery terminals the last two days, and it feels oddly good to have that kind of experience

    I really wanna install springs and a sway bar on my 2nd gen sedan and generally just be able to work on it myself, but I have literally zero tools. Is there a list of essential tools and stuff you can think of if I wanna start turning a wrench on my car?

    • @ColtonRichter

      I think a screwdriver set, ratchet set with imperial sockets, a breaker bar of some sort. I did years of work without power tools!

    How do you adjust the dampening in the rear without taking the shocks off?

    • @ColtonRichter
      @ColtonRichter  8 днів тому

      You go through the trunk, behind the interior panels. You normally can't adjust them without extensions, which BC sells

    if one were to idk... want to completely slam the rear.... do u think removing the perch and going spring to knuckle is a good idea?

    • @ColtonRichter
      @ColtonRichter  Місяць тому +1

      No because usually the springs are slimmer and won't have a good seat on the control arm like the OEM springs

    Is torquing them to spec necessary? I have all the tools I need except a torque wrench and also where do you jack up the car from the front?

      You do what you want but for peace of mind I always make sure those bolts are tight as recommended

    Hey, I just bought the same BC Racing coilovers and am going to install them this spring! Would you recommend adjusting the fronts at all or install the way they come out of the box? I did not purchase the extreme low versions and am wondering if i should just fire away and install or if adjusting will be needed right away? Thanks

    • @ColtonRichter
      @ColtonRichter  13 днів тому

      I recommend installing everything the way they come out of the box, then adjusting from there. There's no way to tell what height they'll be at until they're on the car!

    First comment 🎉
    I can't justify lowering my car when I have to already drive onto 2×4's so I can fit the jack under the car just to raise the front end properly.
    P.s your underneath is hella rusty lol
    P.p.s cool video

      Bro my underneath is clean clean, it's just old parts 😂
      Sounds like a jack issue mate

      @ultraspeedy4911 Mines not rusty and I winter the bazeejus out of it. Sounds like a gen 1 speed 6 problem

    What was the dimensions of the longer bolt for the rear shocks?

    • @ColtonRichter

      Unfortunately I'm not sure, but I would highly recommend going to Mazda directly to buy them.

    It looks like the front struts had a camber adjustment on that top plate. What did you set this to and what happens if you need to make adjustments on this top plate for camber?

    • @ColtonRichter
      @ColtonRichter  5 днів тому +1

      I leave it at 0 adjustment until I fit a set of aftermarket wheels on. From there, I would adjust it on how much you need or little depending on the size of wheels you get.
