    The thing that I changed in my everyday routine that made the biggest difference, was making working out a part of my routine, not some additional thing. I stuck my kids in after school club for an hour each day, and head to the gym straight from work. No questions, it's just something I do. And the kids have a blast with their friends.

    Oh wow. I needed this today. I had a splendid week last week - training and diet were *on point*. Everything logged and weighed. This week I feel run down and achy. I have lifted twice this week and walked and I feel spent. I had more sugar than I had planned to have and I haven't tracked it. The guilt was gnawing at me. Thank you!!! The one change I made 9 years ago was to start lifting and I've never stopped. 👍🏻👍🏻

    This was great, Harry. I'm in the middle of an "off week" regarding food. I just increased the intensity of my workouts, so I'm hungrier. The thing I changed is making a concerted effort to not feel guilty for eating a little more than usual. I wake up every morning telling myself that today is a new day, and I try again to get myself back to my normal! I agree with the "no rush" mentality.

    I think the biggest misconception about many of these “fitness influencers” is that they are not honest about using anabolic or other substances that promote weight loss or muscle mass. To compete at the level, Julia is and to see how quickly she developed her muscle mass, there’s no way she is natural. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with “supplements.” I just wish they were honest about it.

    Never commented before but had to say thanks so much that’s exactly what I needed to hear. I have been maintaining a 4stone loss for 5 years now and over the past 12 months have gained 1 stone. Everyday I beat myself up about it, still train 6 days a week and eat well but I’m conscious that I’m overeating by a few hundred calories a day. Learning to be kind to myself, I’m midway through my PhD studies so this is first time I’ve had to prioritize something ahead of my fitness. Thanks again for the reassuring words!

    even if this basic advice she gives is good, generally i wouldn't take advice from woman who took drugs and failed to avoid side effects. i want to listen to girls similar to me, not some enhanced, both surgically and chemically, beast of a female. not to mention that someone who uses steroids may have very different experience dieting from that of an average person, and especially average woman

    Yay ❤! Finally someone that does not force tracking calories for weight loss. It drives me crazy when I hear someone say: " you cannot lose weight if you do not count calories". Well, some people find it super hard to do that, so they would rather not try anything at all to lose weight than track those numbers.
    Great video, as usual, Harry 💪

    Calorie tracking and meal prepping have really been a help. I work in a grocery store with a sub bar, pizza bar, fried chicken ect all in my department (fresh foods) and I'm surrounded by cake all day (cake decorator) So, bringing a planned meal and snacks with me to work was a game changer.

    I have fibromyalgia and have been sick for weeks. Things have also changed in regard to pain control which has significantly impacted my weight lifting. I had to lower by 10 lbs (dumbbells) and that SUCKS! The pain is awful. I’ve been so upset after losing 4 weeks pondering if it’s my fault. Am I actually weaker or just hurting more? It’s a chicken egg situation at the moment. Regardless it’s nice to be reminded I’m only human.

    • @christinelamb1167

      I also have chronic pain, and some days are more intense than others (although the pain is always there). It is not easy to stay on a fitness routine when you're constantly hurting! But I've noticed movement helps me more than not doing anything. So on days when I hurt more, I still workout but don't push as hard. Some days if the pain is really bad, I'll just do a stretching routine or take a walk.
      I wish you healing and more pain free days ahead!

    Viewing when I don’t meet my goals in a more “cause and effect” kind of way, has REALLY helped me with taking out the moralizing behavior. Like, didn’t reach this goal? Okay, the things I did or didn’t do makes that effect make sense. Let’s try again. In a more analytical way, I suppose!

    The biggest change lately...msking sure to do something every day and making sure to get time outside, where I'm normally more active. I work too much in an ofc so can get unhealthy fast. I have had to overcome.my thought that, unless i do a proper workout, it's not worth my time. I want to save extra time and so a proper workout but then i end up working and being too tired otherwise to work out. Anyhoo, happy to be doing my best and pushing for improvements.

I don’t count calories because I get so fixated on the numbers that it almost borderlines disordered eating. For me, I have more peace when I don’t track calories. Losing weight is simply burning more calories than you are taking in.If you ate the same?And simply started moving every day?That would be a start.And an easy one.Take the stairs.Park the car further away.Keep life balanced.Don’t obsess too much about food.Begin by moving😊

    Darn right that you don’t need to track specific numbers to lose weight! Thx for emphasizing this, Harry.
    During a cut, I eat more lean protein and fruits & avoid all junk. Guess what… I lose fat; this spring/summer abt 20ish lbs. For me, the more I track specific #s, the more I obsess & venture dangerously toward dysmorphia.

    i realy hate the "if you are not loosing weight you are not in a calorie defecit" it just seems like an article of faith. If someone says "i am in a calorie defecit and not loosing wieght", that should be treated seriously, rather than disregarded as imediatly false without further invesitgation just because it contradicts the existing dogma. I understand that given our current understanding of biology and physics the mass has to come from somewhere, but simply disregarding people who challenge that understanding with their experience seems wrong and dismissive (and sometimes somewhat cruel, as often people who say this are realy struggling)

    • @TFNL
      @TFNL  2 місяці тому +6

      But it is false. It’s not disregarding, it’s correcting an incorrect understanding to then allow them to learn what is correct. If somebody comes to me and says “2+2=5”, that’s wrong, and telling them why 2+2 actually equals 4 isn’t disregarding, it’s correcting and educating.

    • @megt9171
      @megt9171 2 місяці тому

      @TFNL but if someone says "I have experienced a situation in which 2+2=5" then I think it's helpfull to atleast hear them out to understand their experience. They may well have a mistaken perception, but to simply dismiss their experience with "no that didn't happen" when you have no knowlage of what happened seems callous and is dismissing what they say based on faith in what you understand the rules of the universe to be, rather than reason and observation.

    • @TFNL
      @TFNL  2 місяці тому +3

      @@megt9171 It’s not rules of the universe or faith, it’s science and fact.

    • @megt9171
      @megt9171 2 місяці тому

      @TFNL as we understand it sure. But when you dismiss experience out of hand without making enquiries you are treating the science as dogma. If we wanted to approach the issue scientifically we would investigate the data point which is claimed to contradict our hypothesis. To simply meet apparently contradictory evidence with "no this cannot be so" is not scientific at all. The scientific thing to do would be "let's investigate because this is odd".

    • @megt9171
      @megt9171 2 місяці тому

      @TFNL it's also worth noting that people do gain weight on a deficit all the time, it's been observed frequently. It even happened to me today, I gained 0.3kg overnight. Weight fluctuations are well observed even in a calorie deficit. Now that weight probably isn't fat (although I don't have a means of knowing for sure), but potholes, you can gain weight on a deficit, normally just from food mass or water. The more correct thing to say is that caloric deficit over time leads to fat loss (which is not always weight loss, as when recomping for example). I know you know this because you have mentioned it in videos more than once (I do like your videos by the way, it's just the dismissal out of hand of people who claim to have experienced weight gain on a deficit that I don't like)
