  • Vogue Williams recently revealed that her mum, in an attempt to discipline her, actually kicked her out of the house when she was 17! Now a mother, Vogue looks back on her mother’s punishment as “well deserved”, saying that she would have kicked herself out too! But, has our panel ever resorted to giving their own children the boot? Jane remembers the time she was kicked out of a car for pushing the boundaries while she was growing up.

My mother threw me out when I was 17, because she didn’t approve of my then boyfriend. I had nothing but the clothes I stood up in a wash bag and a savings book, and it was 8pm on a Saturday night. I couldn’t finish college because I had a nervous breakdown and in the end it took me four years to get out of seeing doctors and getting myself off medication. I didn’t go back home for 7 years ( the boyfriend had died) and I got my own home. My mother never addressed what she had done to me, eventually we did talk but I never fully trusted her.

The lack of discipline is a problem and a possible reason for the way kids are today

I was kicked out by my mother at 13 and my father at 15. It is absolutely unacceptable

My daughter was asked to leave at 18, after she started 2 college courses and didn't bother to turn up for. She would lay in bed all day unless she got up to make food and leave the kitchen a mess. My husband and I were both working full time. I gave her 2 months to get a job and she did not. She she had to leave, a few weeks later she called me to meet up. She told me it was the best thing I could have done, she now has her own business.

It’s a tough one I suppose it depends on the relationship and what you’re prepared to tolerate especially if their in their late teens + 👍🏻

My friend did this with her son. At the time, I thought “Oh, really, D, he’s just a baby” He was 18 years old and I didn’t fully know what was happening in their house until she told me. He went into temporary accommodation, then was able to secure a flat. D’s such a lovely guy, and has said that his parents definitely did the right thing. I know it doesn’t work out for everyone, but in this case, it did 😊

So they got him a free flat and timed it

@@URFUTUREUK What makes you think it was a “Free Flat” He went into a privately rented flat. He was working full time and had to pay full rent, council tax and all other bills. Maybe, try thinking outside of the box and not jumping to conclusions 😡

@@luvintheprof if he was working and paying all those things he would b able to source his own flat at 18. The fact that he needed social services help to do this suggests to me the family timed this exactly.
