Texas doesn't pay more than they get back. That would be states like New York and California. When it comes to welfare states Texas ranks pretty high...in fact 8 out of the top 10 welfare states are red states. Plus they have a defunct electricity grid and keep having to get bailed out. Then there's the storms they come begging for money because...they take more than they give. They are a welfare state.

You all seem to miss the point: Universal guaranteed income is a moral hazard. It is inflationary. It is a Very Bad idea.
How is it inflationary? You don't HAVE to print money to fund it. If your argument is that companies will just raise prices then your problem is monopolies which would be true regardless of having UBI or not

Some see UBI as a social inheritance where people have participated in nation-building. Their work is what has brought us to modern times when robots will be doing the work. People have also been used as cannon fodder to settle disputes between nations. Now we have arrived at this point in time together, and it is time to receive our inheritance for the amazing job our ancestors have done in shaping this planet. In my opinion, a good reason we deserve UBI is the question we should be asking when companies start selling data. Well, let's see, it began in the 1980s, according to Google. The year is 2024, so it makes me wonder how much has been sold and yet we don't get a paycheck. So, in a way, since the 1980s up until now, it's UBI money that we deserve.

If it's Federal money what's the problem, it's not like Texas itself has to cough it up. Even if they save it or don't use it to buy food, am sure some retailers would appreciate the bump in sales.
Because when the federal money runs out, nonprofits will lobby for Texas to continue funding the programs with state taxes.

We tried that, and where are we today? Paying more in federal taxes on our income, while Republicans rail against taxing the super rich, who pay $400. Look it up!
We haven't tried that, govt is more involved with our personal lives than ever before. Cut the taxes get rid of income and sales tax to start. Go back to the personal accountability model. There's a lot more but to say we tried getting the govt out of the way is false, they couldn't be more in the way.
@@scubaman508 government programs are needed in times of recession and inflation. Employers don’t want to pay livable wages, so to keep everyone with food and shelter, these programs are needed. These people work, but aren’t making enough money, which is not their fault at all. If we don’t demand higher wages, how can we cut programs? They are not handouts, they are quantifiable, viable programs that these people pay into as well. Everyone in this country pays taxes. I don’t know who started the lie that no one pays taxes. Everything in this country is taxed.
No. UBI is the answer for what's coming. By 2030, it's estimated that we could see 50% of the population unable to compete for jobs against AI. UBI is the only answer anyone's come up with, for how those people are going to get by while they figure out what to do next. For years now, UBI has also long been studied for it's effects on improving local communities, and it's been overwhelmingly been found to have positive impacts. So we might as well.

It's no socialism by definition. Also multiple politicians from both sides and for centuries have said UBI is beneficial. The petroleum fund in Alaska is a type of UBI. They have problems but that's because of how they fund it.
