I watched this ENTIRE match with my Dad! We stayed up until about 5 in the morning! Still to this day it's one of the greatest finals in sports that I've ever seen!
Danny Cooper i’d rooted for Nole on that day and almost couldn’t watch after Nadal broken Nole at 4-2 but my sister called me at said Nole got back the break, never forget the feeling that day
2012 was really a great year, Nole won AO, Nadal won FO, Federer won WIM, Murray won USO. Respect for these fantastic players who entertain us by this sport :D
@Paul Daniels He definitely was, the four of them basically dominated every tournament they entered. From AO 2011 to US 2013, Murray played 9/12 GS semi-finals. He may not have won GS titles like the other two, but he more than earned his spot in the big four.
This has to be the greatest tennis match of all time - yes, I would even put it above the Federer/Nadal Wimbledon 2008 final. Both Nadal and Djokovic played nearly every point as if it was crucial to the success of their career. It was like watching two gladiators beat the hell out of each other and going back and forth in gaining the upper hand. Look at how much it means to Novak when he wins. Two of the fittest sportsmen ever.
This may have been at least so far the pinnacle of competitive tennis. Incredible drama + brilliant quality of play = the greatest match I've ever seen.
To each their own. In my opinion, it's at least top three greatest matches of all time. The match he had with Fed at Wimbledon is up there too. And of course included, Fed/Nadal Wimbledon final 2008, Bjorg/McEnroe Wimbledon final 1980, and Nadal/Djokovic French Open Semi 2013.
Its because both players are defensive baseline, djokovic just defend defend defend and look for winner opportunities, nadal is even more defensive, he just looks to make his opponent concede unforced errors. At least federer and murray are offensive baseliners
Mike H mate u got it wrong. Roger is a pure aggressive ALL court player. He frequently makes trips to the net. Nadal is an offensive baseliner who uses spin as his defence. Djokovic is an offensive counter puncher who wears opponents out before finally striking in points. Murray is probably the same as Novak except he can be a bit more aggressive yet lacks the mentality and has a tendancy to get angry at himself in matches. This is why he only has 3 slams.
What a tennis match of the century.. A battle of gladiators... Thanks two incredible champions ..This is the beauty of tennis .. everything was there. The victor the magnificent champion Novak Djokovic.. Unforgettable incredible champion Novak Djokovic..God bless you and protect you champion
That is fine, it is only a matter of technology. The camera gets smaller and more powerful too, memory shrink in size as well. When they virtually lost control of it, they will accept the changes too. French at the end of the day is just French.
The most SCARY thing about all of this is Novak had played a +5 hours SF against Murray BEFORE this match took place (for another 6 hours of continuous sport)... 😬
@Sam McPhail Roger would have over 30 slams but he became very very old on his 23rd birthday. In his prime (April 2003 to August 2003) he was almost unbeatable. Unfortunately than he lost speed. But I still think he is the real goat because of his mental toughness and self believe when playing under pressure. Rafa and Novak are mental midgets just like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant. They all chock in important moments. Roger always shows in this kind of moments that he is real goat. Wimbledon 2008, US open 2010, US open 2011, Wimbledon 2019 are reasons why Djokovic and Nadal will never be goats in my eyes. Apart from that Djokovic and Roger played 3 Wimbledon finals and Novak only won 3 of them. In last 8.5 years Djokovic didn’t lose single Gs match against Roger, but cares about it. Roger is goat because he won more atp250 titles
@Sam McPhail Roger is dominated for over a decade now. He looks like clown when he plays against Djokovic on slams. He didn’t manage to win 1 single slam against Djokovic for almost 9 years. He lost all 3 Wimbledon finals they played. But he is still goat in my eyes because of his mental toughness. Even if Djokovic and Rafa are much better tennis players they will never cook pasta barilla like Roger does. And that is most important factor in goat debate. It is not about results, it is about style. And Roger cooks in style. Roger is goat. Djokovic and Rafa are weak era champs who are always lucky
one of the greatest matches in the history of tennis, truly unforgettable. I'm glad I downloaded this match i will never delete it, and Jelena in that blue dress is the other unforgettable of this match that woman is gorgeous!
FearlessStar1000 Lol. Haven't looked through the thread yet, but that's hilarious. Actually, though, looking through a variety of youtube threads only goes to prove how retarded the human species really is.
As a Federer fan that was heartbroken in AO 2009 and elated in AO 2017, it brings me no pleasure to say that this is unfortunately the greatest AO final of all time. I do think it's quite elegant, though, that 2009 and 2017 are clearly the 2nd and 3rd greatest AO finals of all time, and all three of the Big 3 won one each. That's pretty.
One of the reasons I respect Djokovic so much is this one. For example, look at how he greets the other players regardless of the result of the match. That's one of the things that make him great.
For me, this was the best final of a Grand Slam ever. Wimbledon '08 was probably the most prestigious one because it's Wimbledon and Federer was involved. For some people that's kind of sacred. But this final was something else. It was a display of power and endurance like never before. Breaking limits. The physicality, mental strength and emotional weight that went into this is unmatched. They threw the kitchen sink at each other on this one. Hardcourt, in pretty much every sense of the word.
Keep Calm And Travel The humble reactions of rafa? like fist pumps at every point won? like getting down on his kness and yelling like a wild animal after every break of serve or game won? this is some fucked up delusion bitch.
The two Gladiators of tennis..one of the greatest finals ever played. 4 gladiators we have , Djokovic, Nadal. Federer, Murray!......GOOD to have Nadal back!
this match is one of the reasons why i laugh when people say Novak Djokovic is weak. US Open 2011 is an example, Sunday's Wimbledon final another. He may crack for a few games but he will always come back.
Weak? No. Unlucky? Definitely. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, and to a lesser extent Murray, sometimes must look at each other and think "What the hell did I do to have to play in the same era as these guys?" because they always seem to have to play each other in the biggest matches, and most times, except at the French, the matches are drawn out and swing on who's got the better mental strength in the 5th.
Cian Farrell I don't really think it's a question they ask themselves. they've all worked hard to be where they are now and as "the big four" they expect to have to play each other so often, which makes it even more exciting when some players invite themselves to the quarter/semi finals (Wawrinka, Berdych, Raonic, Gulbis, Ferrer on clay even recently Kyrgios). I actually find the big four dynamic interesting because it will always push them to better their game like Djokovic or Murray must do if they want to win the French Open at least once. Mental strength is the key though you're right this is why having strong opponents makes the victory greater
isa medusa I'm not complaining about the "big-four", it keeps the game interesting. I think we'll really see just how special those 4 are when they're gone, or have faded into obscurity. But surely there's been times where each of the four have complained to themselves about it. I don't think Murray has it in him to topple Nadal at the French but I think Djokovic will manage it. Murray would be relying on Nadal being beaten by someone else I think. He has the talent to compete with Nadal, but I just don't think he has the mental endurance to outlast him. Djokovic probably has the best mental strength of the four and even he can't put Nadal down at the French. I wonder will Dimitrov, Wawrinka, Ferrer and any of the others ever come together the way the current big 4 did to completely dominate men's tennis?
Cian Farrell I think Wawrinka will take Federer's place in the big four that is if Federer ever retires. But I do think he has the potential so long as he builds mental strength and isn't blocked by someone else. Not sure Dimitrov and Ferrer will though, Ferrer just isn't good enough outside of clay plus he cannot control his nerves sometimes. I think the big four spends so much time together that they're struggling especially since they have to try to remain distant towards each other while they are still pros like Murray and Djokovic who have been "friends" since childhood but can't be close because of their rivalry. About the French Open i'm sure that once someone breaks Nadal's victory roll, Murray will get enough confidence to get it plus after his loss at Wimbledon he seemed determined to work on his mental and physical strength but i do believe that if anyone can beat Nadal in Paris it's Djokovic you're right
i remember watching this match..........great, epic match.... this was when Novak started to become the legend he is today.....down 4-2 in the fifth set against Nadal, not many players can overcome that. Here we are in 2021, Novak just won the australian open, he's world number 1 and seems to be getting better...... Go Novak!
@@viksinha5410 It ended at 1:37 AM Melbourne Time on Monday. That would have been 17 hours earlier by me in Chicago, Central Standard Time, on Sunday Morning at 8:37 am. So the match started roughly 6 hours earlier at about 2:30 AM Central Standard Time in Chicago.
***** It's still the 2008 Fed-Nadal Wimbledon final. Even last year's Wimbledon final was better than this match. Just better quality and shot-making. Not to mention, the 2008 Wimbledon final had 2 TB sets and a 9-7 final set, and they still didn't go past 5 hours.
Roshan Sreedhar Wimbledon is not for servebots, especially since the grass has been slowed down considerably. And I'll take great shot-making over long rallies waiting for an opponent to miss. Like I said, this match is just notable because it was the longest, played on a slow HC. There have been other Australian Open matches that were much better, with more games, and better shot-making.
Roshan Sreedhar Not even close. Wimbledon 08 had the best shot-making, like Fed's BH to save MP in the fourth-set TB. The entire turning point of this match was Rafa MISSING a wide open BH at 4-2 30-15 in the fifth set. That's the extent of the drama. Oh, and Djokovic falling over after MISSING on the final shot of an exhausting long rally. Again, not shot-making. Just errors and a long match.
Roshan Sreedhar If you're interested in watching every shot get retrieved, watch Roland Garros. Just retrieving every shot until the guy makes an error is not tennis. Great shot making means hitting winners to end points. And this stupid generalization about Wimbledon being for servebots is getting tired, considering the grass was slowed down to appease fans like you who want all courts to play the same speed.
Why do you keep bringing Isner and Karlovic into this. They are not mentioned, except by you. We are talking about shot-making plain and simple. And the 08, 09, and 14 Wimbledon finals had more of that in bunches than this match. Even the 05 AO SF between Fed and Safin was better. It also had a 9-7 final set, and didn't even reach 5 hours. It had it's fair share of long rallies, but points were mostly ended with actual WINNERS. This match was mostly retrieve, retrieve, retrieve, until the other guy missed. Like Djokovic falling to the ground after he MISSED the final shot of a long rally. A lot of great shots weren't retrieved for winners in this match. In this match, winners weren't hit of the magnitude of Fed's BH winner DTL to save championship in the 2008 Wimbledon. That was shot-making. And Wimbledon finals were full of it. Not the case in this match. It was simply a grindfest with Djokovic and Nadal retrieving until the other missed, because good shots that would be winners on faster surfaces, were retrieved. You want grinding, retrieving tennis, where opponents can't put away winners, watch Roland Garros. I'd rather watch players end points with cold, hard winners, than lose a point at the end of a long rally with an error because they couldn't get a winning shot through their opponent on a slower court. And no, this has nothing to do with Karlovic and Isner. I said end points with WINNERs, not ACES.
Yup.I mean for God's sake what the heck they were doing on the court. Well, Novak was a better player that night. I felt so bad, after the match that both Djokovic and Nadal couldn't even stand.
Since the beginning of the second decade of this millenium (Jan 2010) Andy murray - 3 slams out of 7 finals Federer - 5 slams out of 9 finals Novak - 11 slams out of 19 finals Nadal - 10 slams out of 15 finals
btw djoker has not so many fans as nadal and federer but he is the greatest of all time and he gives us the greatest rivalries of all time,if djokovic was not there then we didn't have matches like this
partida impressionante!! Imaginem só a resistência dos dois jogadores pra conseguir chegar até o final com incríveis 5:53 de jogo!! impressionante djokovic!! méritos pra nadal que fez um grande jogo também!
Yes, that tilted the game ... But really Nadal was actually less aggressive that game and was actually feeling a bit tired. You can see he bent down a little bit and rested his hands on his knees ...
He was just wear down. Now only imagine how Nole must've felt at their clash in RG 2013 SF after being ROBBED a point, totally unfairly. That's demoralizing to say it lightly.
two warriors who time and time and time again show the sporting world what you can acheive with hard work - skill - focus - discipline and a never say die mind set.. Tennis fans are blessed to have the top 4...
In 2021 and watching this epic once again by these two and the amazing mental prevail by Novak the beast on the court himself. They can’t touch him with his mental skills to finish tough matches !
I like seeing both of the players being emotional because they were paying the best of them, and they are passionate about tennis. I can feel their joyfulness and sadness throughout the play, just like watching one's life in micro view :)

Varun That 2013 RG Semifinal was choked by Nole, because he walked into the net on a smash. At that point he just mentally collapsed. Rafa didn't show any amazing mental strength there. Nole just lost his.
@@MrPatrickbuit Rafa choked three times - this very final (AO 2012) up a break in the fifth set, the 2017 AO versus Federer also being up a break in the fifth, and then the 2018 Wimbledon with set points in the third set, and so many break opportunities in the fifth.
Both players would probably agree that the hardest part of this match was having to stand up while those old guys gave their acceptance speeches at the end.
As absolutely incredible as this match was and boy was it ever. I actually think their Wimbledon semifinal in 2018 was an even better match. The only thing that makes it less is that it was a semifinal and not a final. But that Wimbledon semifinal actually had more spectacular play and incredible winners than this match.

I think is the the best match ever between this players
Madrid semis 2009 is also one of the greatest. Quality was insane.
RG 2013 Wimbledon 2018 USO 2011
Wimbledon 2018 is the best. It's not even a debate
HOW DO 81 PEOPLE DISLIKE ONE OF THE GREATEST MATCHES EVER PLAYED?!?!?! SHEER EPICNESS AND YOU PUT A THUMBS DOWN! SHAME!!!!
don't underestimate the power of the Fedtards
what a shame one of them had to lose...
***** Exactly, Luis: honestly, i didn't know if i should be sad for Rafa or happy for Djoko.
Yup.I mean for God's sake what the heck they were doing on the court. Well, Novak was a better player that night. I felt so bad, after the match that both Djokovic and Nadal couldn't even stand.
@@andysort You can be both. That's how true tennis fans should feel.
Young GOATkovic beats Rodick, Nadal and Federer in Montreal 2007.
ua-cam.com/video/soZZxGqRp-U/v-deo.html
This 2 guys are the best of all times for me.
Since the beginning of the second decade of this millenium (Jan 2010)
Andy murray - 3 slams out of 7 finals
Federer - 5 slams out of 9 finals
Novak - 11 slams out of 19 finals
Nadal - 10 slams out of 15 finals
Last 10 Years
Djokovic 16 GS
Nadal 13 GS
Federer 4 GS
Murray 3 GS
Wawrinka 3 GS
In fact, the second decade of the millenium started in January 2011.

Murray sucks, not in the same category
btw djoker has not so many fans as nadal and federer but he is the greatest of all time and he gives us the greatest rivalries of all time,if djokovic was not there then we didn't have matches like this
Nadal is the only constant between the big 3 rivalry. He is tha 🐐

The most epic Final of History.
Rafa's speech was so classy, of the Federer mould..! Novak has that boyish love for tennis that makes it special.
partida impressionante!! Imaginem só a resistência dos dois jogadores pra conseguir chegar até o final com incríveis 5:53 de jogo!! impressionante djokovic!! méritos pra nadal que fez um grande jogo também!
3:16:01.... what a shot from djokovic... a rocket forehand winner accompanied with a scream of victory.
So delightful.
BEST MATCH EVER ! UNBELIEVABLE
5:12:42 Probably the most damaged miss of his career
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Yes, that tilted the game ... But really Nadal was actually less aggressive that game and was actually feeling a bit tired. You can see he bent down a little bit and rested his hands on his knees ...
😂😂😂😂
He was just wear down. Now only imagine how Nole must've felt at their clash in RG 2013 SF after being ROBBED a point, totally unfairly. That's demoralizing to say it lightly.
@@besideyouc.3279 When was he robbed? You mean touching the net? It is clear fault.
Best match I've ever watched
two warriors who time and time and time again show the sporting world what you can acheive with hard work - skill - focus - discipline and a never say die mind set..
Tennis fans are blessed to have the top 4...
both legends in their own right. just an incredible battle of wills
A phenomenal match. One of the greatest for sure. You're looking at the 2 greatest players of all time (Sorry, Roger.)
best match EVER. i still watch the whole thing once in a while. takes me two sittings tho haha
Absolutely a great match by both, I absolutely loved nole's fire and passion after he won!
Das ist für mich das beste Tennismatch der Geschichte und natürlich auch das beste Grand Slam Finale aller Zeiten!
One of the greatest matches I've ever watched.
The 2 greatest tennis players OAT.
This never gets old :)
classic--worth watching once a year by any tennis fan
couldn’t agree with you more
Really thank you to upload all the macth. I remember when I watched that in live, and I want watch another time. I prefer that Nadal won, but finally couldn´t happend.
It's a beautiful saturday today, the sun is shining, nice day to be outdoors.
Arh, screw it, im gonna stay inside and watch 6 hour tennis match from nearly 8 years ago.
Novak's gf was so active and intimate. Seemed like she cut the distance between them and held his hand through the whole time! Hats off.
Who is here after Djokovic win in aus open 2019 semis to compete against Nadal in final 🔥
Me😂
oh my god.. 6 hour and 17 minutes, are human?
One of the best matches ever!
Best match in tenis history.
I think this was the match that made Djoker the most mentally tough player I have seen this era.
No that was the semifinal match at the US open the previous year vs Federer.
Varun That 2013 RG Semifinal was choked by Nole, because he walked into the net on a smash. At that point he just mentally collapsed. Rafa didn't show any amazing mental strength there. Nole just lost his.
MrPatrickbuit Rafa chocked Wimbledon semi final, multiple break points
AJ Malfoy Djokovic had way more break points.
@@MrPatrickbuit Rafa choked three times - this very final (AO 2012) up a break in the fifth set, the 2017 AO versus Federer also being up a break in the fifth, and then the 2018 Wimbledon with set points in the third set, and so many break opportunities in the fifth.
This was like the Thrilla in Manilla of tennis. Wtf? How were they still standing?
In my opinion, this is by far the best and longest match in the final of a G Slam and of course the best of all time won!! 💪👑♥️🇷🇸😉🤐
Nadal with full head of hair was one of the best looking Tennis players ever
Surely was
Novak played 11 hours against Andy an' Rafa for winn! Fantastic.
after 2013 the balance has been restored.. fuckin awesome to have this rivalry in mens tennis

THE MOST BADDAS MATCH SINCE DAY ONE IN TENNIS HISTORY.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!
One of the most legendary rivalries in sport history, 27 wins for Novak : 25 wins for Nadal, both among the top 3 players of all time.
As of now it is 30 for Djokovic and 29 for Nadal! The greatest rivalry in tennis history
31 and 29 with the Olympics. Djokovic won the gold medal. He won everything in his career.
this match is freaking brilliant
The 2012 Australian Open Final was epic and is a preview of whats to come - the 2019 Australian Open Final between Djokovic and Nadal on Sunday!
AO 19 Finals was diametrically opposite. Nadal just caved in with Djokovic demolishing him with blistering winners.
Line umpire made a record 5 wrong calls on Djokovic balls through the match... His return is so good that they have a tough job :)
A decade on and this is still the greatest match of all time.
Dobro gledati ovaj mec, posle osvejenog trofejai u 2020 godine.8.titula,bravooo Novace!!!!
Further proof that this is one of the worlds greatest sports!
The ultimate clash between Djokovic and Nadal

I like Novak Djokovic.
I don't like him but I respect him
@@viksinha5410 mind me asking why? he seems very likable,
@@next_gen1868 Because of his behavior on court. Yelling at umpires and smashing rackets. Rafa has never smashed a racket and the last time Federer smashed one was 2009. But Novak is respectful to his opponents, I will give him that. Federer wasn't always.
Pascal Maria is so lucky to get to be the umpire for so many great matches (Wimbledon 2008 final, AO 2009 final, AO 2012 final)
