I enjoy hearing your thoughts in-the-moment - you're great at expressing yourself. The sets look beautiful and my appreciation for granulation is growing. When these first came out, I wasn't that interested since the color range appeared rather limited. But now that they've added the 'Tundra' and 'Forest' sets, I'm looking at all of these more closely. I'm so glad you've done this.
I think the two new sets would really bulk out the colour range, and I am definitely interested in getting them. I just wish they didn''t cost a small fortune, haha!

Oh my goodness, you get so many beautiful art supplies. I'm jealous. I never knew you could put the tubes into pans and leave them to set, so I might start buying more tubes now, I've only ever bought 4 i think and haven't tried them, beautiful colours but I've only ever used pans before. Dunno why I've been a bit scared to use them so watching you use yours has taken the fear away now, thank you.
Haha I was the same! Tubes end up costing less per ml than pans, and it is so much fun to squeeze them into half and full pans or palette wells! Granulating colours like these do have a tendency to set really hard over time though, and a few like Viridian become impossible to rewet! But I found most of these came back to life pretty well, thankfully! 😂
I always bought pans and one day I thought I would try tubes, I still buy pans but a lot of tubes now as it works out cheaper and I love the process of squeezing them into pans and you do get a lot more for your money

I just love these Super-Grans. I started by just getting a few colors from each range, but slowly talked myself into trying more colors and soon enough I had them all. Forest and Shire sets are probably the most useful over all in general watercolor use, and Volcano was a big surprise because I expected them to be the least useful, but they are surprisingly useful, but my favorites are Tundra and Desert. Love, love, love them all.
They're so lovely, and it is impossible to not collect them all, haha! I will soon have another video or two on the sets I haven't reviewed yet. Well, soonish...they're on my list to film!

Thank you! I had to do a UFO, haha. I think a week is what is usually takes to unlock Community. I was really surprised at how fast the rest of it happened. Two days in total for AdSense and UA-cam to approve everything. I wasn't even ready, lol!!!

The new granulating colors by Schmincke Horadam! Sadly not a huge fan of it... I know that some people really like them but.. I don't know what to think of them to be honest. They look nice for the most part. 😊
I can totally appreciate that; they are very strange and boutique sets. I never used to like granulation much but I've grown to love it over the years. These sets on their own are a bit limiting though, but when combined with other more regular colours, I think they will be a nice addition to add texture into paintings. It would be better when not everything in a painting is granulated! 😂
@@BeckyTregear I don't mind the granulation but I don't really see a lot of use in these. They came out with a Tundra and a Forest set too I guess... I think it's quite easy to replicate the shades if you have the colors that are used to create the different colors in the different sets. But it's also quite sad that Schmincke doesn't include them in their regular range for the people who really love these colors. Some of the Forest colors look interesting and they could make the effort to include them in their watercolor range.
@@Christine_R I will get Forest and Tundra eventually but they're expensive so soon after Christmas. I also plan to make a video mixing the single pigment colours to make the supergranulation ones, at least for the three sets I have. Not sure what the new ones are made with yet. 😊

Oh no, that would be so difficult to not be able to go into your shared studio! I'm profoundly grateful that mine is located in the back area of our house, which used to be my photography studio. And I prefer to work alone so that works out too, lol. Thank you for your kind words. I do try to make videos on a variety of things on as I know not everyone will be interested in everything, which is totally cool. Plus I include my own little obsessions, like scratchboards! 🤣

Thank you! It could just be that I've used too much water in book and it has been bashed around a bit too so general wear could be causing it to deteriorate.

Loooove these colours and was soooo tempted to buy a set, those blues are gorgeous... I'm liking the Forest set but instead I ended up buying a Schmincke wooden box set of 24 x 5ml tubes that came with a ceramic palette which I'd been eyeing off for about 4 years and then I saw it on special at a great price from Jacksons in the UK... Becky, whenever I open a tube of paint - especially when it is new - I always gently tap the tube on it's bottom edge a number of times on my desk to allow the paint to settle down into the bottom of the tube and to relieve the pressure of the paint in the top of the tube under the lid... hope you get what I'm trying to say??? - this almost always works for me and even if I do get some spillage it's not as bad as it was before...
I'm definitely going to try that technique, thanks for letting me know! I've seen those wooden box sets on Jackson's and they're so gorgeous. I am sure you will love those...and the colours are probably more useful overall than the supergranulation sets. But I am still eyeing up the two I don't have since I must collect the whole set. 😂

They are so insanely expensive, and I am going to have to grit my teeth buying the other two sets. But Jackson's has been out of stock for ages, with an ETA of new ones next month, so hopefully by then I can get them. The palette I got from a local store in Melbourne, but I have seen them in a few different places. If you Google "28 well porcelain palette" similar versions should hopefully pop up. 😄

Your pictures are beautiful. Oto Kano on UA-cam does a really good series on all five sets. She shows the granulation, the pigments that may have been used and how well they work as a mixing color, among other things.

I just did a search and I found a picture that someone posted of the 5ml tube sets, and they look to come in cardboard boxes, so my best guess is only the 15ml tubes are in the wooden ones. The 5ml sets might be too small?
I bought mine from Jackson's Art, which is a UK company but they ship internationally and now they have a warehouse in Australia too! In Melbourne, Senior Art Supplies have the sets (probably more expensive though).

@@BeckyTregear for some reason when I look on line it keeps brining up cheap joes which is based in the USA. No idea why this is happening since but it’s driving me nuts
I like the idea of these mixes, the boxes are cute, but... Schmincke French ultramarine, viridian and cobalt azure are the staples of my palette, so I don’t really plan to buy these.
You can certainly mix them all with their existing paints. I think 12 colours mix to make these 15. I plan to do a follow up video with all of the single tubes, making these mixes and comparing them. 🙂
Yes adds have been playing for a while now, wish they didn't though😨 a few years ago this didn't happen and now they are asking if you want to pay to stop adds that you don't ask for any way. I find them infuriating to be honest. I have stopped subscribing to a lot of you tube artists due to 4 or 5 adds playing throughout, sign of the times I suppose Becky
Ah yes, they're a double edged sword. They pay out but are annoying as well, lol. I have gone through every one of my videos and made sure there aren't too many ad breaks during the videos, and that they are situated at the end of a sentence, not right in the middle! That drives me crazy more than anything.

@@BeckyTregear I have been looking for somewhere in Melbourne to get them from. Preferably in the cardboard boxes (as they are cheaper) but I haven’t been able to find them.
@@BeckyTregear for some reason when I look on line it keeps brining up cheap joes which is based in the USA. No idea why this is happening since but it’s driving me nuts
I like the idea of these mixes, the boxes are cute, but... Schmincke French ultramarine, viridian and cobalt azure are the staples of my palette, so I don’t really plan to buy these.
You can certainly mix them all with their existing paints. I think 12 colours mix to make these 15. I plan to do a follow up video with all of the single tubes, making these mixes and comparing them. 🙂
Yes adds have been playing for a while now, wish they didn't though😨 a few years ago this didn't happen and now they are asking if you want to pay to stop adds that you don't ask for any way. I find them infuriating to be honest. I have stopped subscribing to a lot of you tube artists due to 4 or 5 adds playing throughout, sign of the times I suppose Becky
Ah yes, they're a double edged sword. They pay out but are annoying as well, lol. I have gone through every one of my videos and made sure there aren't too many ad breaks during the videos, and that they are situated at the end of a sentence, not right in the middle! That drives me crazy more than anything.
Normally I like your videos but the dramatic music is just cring!!
