Hello, the placket can be grown on or seperate depending on your design preference. Some of the advantages may be for fabric consumption, being able to cut the placket in a different colour/pattern fabric, strenthening the placket by having that extra seam. It is not always neccessary and entirely your choice :)

Hi, this is just one way of contructing the placket, if you wish to, you can cut these in two pieces, instead of one folded piece.
