Daniel Island, SC: Celebrating Twenty Years of Community

True communities develop over time. When planning for Daniel Island began in the early 1990s it required vision and forethought to come up with a blueprint that would help shape the island town community that would gradually develop here to become a modern-day extension of the City of Charleston.
Over the past several months, we’ve interviewed some of the visionaries and residents who have contributed to the creation of Daniel Island, including former City of Charleston Mayor Joseph Riley and current Mayor and former Daniel Island resident John Tecklenburg. Together, these interviews tell the story of Daniel Island and celebrate the true community it has become over the past 20 years.
