As a resident of Charleston, I appreciated this video. Kiawah (key uh wah) is the place all of the transplants are building multi-million-dollar homes. King Street is the main traveled street of all tourists downtown, with tons of restaurants and shops, including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc. Many houses have "haint blue ceilings" in the tradition of Gullah-Geechee people driving evil spirits away. A bed swing on the porch is also distinctly lowcountry - everyone had them as they were created here. Charleston Tea Plantation on John's Island is free and you can see,how they process tea. The old jail in downtown is a popular spooky tour. We have America's number one restaurant, Hall's Chophouse, on King Street. The Star Wars housr is on,Sullivan's Island, as well as Edgar Allen Poe history. Come back and see more - Charleston is the #1 place to visit for 9 years straight by Travel and Leisure magazine.
Yes, I had a magical visit!!. Do they still have the Sea Turtle Hospital?.. It's just amazing that friends from Dallas to Chicago have loved visiting Charleston!-
It is no longer what you describe. Kiawah is not the worst area the northern “transplants” have taken over. They have taken over ALL the areas. Summerville and Mt Pleasant went from sleepy little outer areas to nothing but traffic jams and bumper to bumper housing. There’s little land left.
Excellent video, I couldn't wait to watch your video, even though it's 2am and I wake up at 6am, so I'm only going to sleep 4 hours. Randy, you are excellent, I have yet to find a youtubaire like you. I advise you, to sell your videos to the national geographic channel, you are really a perfectionist. The USA is a large open-air museum, each state has its own charm. In Charleston, I loved the beautiful architecture, it is good to live. Another thousand thank you for discovering your beautiful country. I love the USA.
Excellent tour of my favorite city, Charleston. Your voice provides the perfect narration. I love how you include many of the great local eateries. I am really loving your videos. Charleston combines deep rooted American history with fantastic entertainment venues both outdoors and indoors, numerous and diverse menu eateries, wine & spirit tours and so much more. I fell in love with Charleston when I moved to Georgia 5 years ago and realized Charleston was only a hop, skip, & jump, away from me. Such a beautiful area. Thank you for doing this video.
Always enjoyable footage with your presentations. The narration pace was calming and informative. It left me heading for my maps and best routes to plan a visit. Thanks, look fwd to your next destination👍
We love to see people visit, we don’t even mind if you move here. But if you do, please don’t try to turn Charleston into the place you just left. Thanks y’all! :-) By the way, this is a GREAT video!!
Thankyou, yep I agree. If people run from a region, they should acclimate to the place they are moving to, instead of trying to change it from the place they are running from
Fantastic Video, Thanks!!! You really covered it all, and I've chosen the spots I want to visit when I can get down there from Jersey. Great job Randy. I’m glad you mentioned Shem Creek; such a neat and out of the way place. Definitely worth taking the time stop by and grab some food and drinks.

This is by far the most informative video I've watched yet. We're paying a visit in a few weeks, and this has helped tremendously to give me a go-to of where to visit.
I’m from Walterboro, SC and I always wanted to live in Charleston ever since I was a little boy. Every weekend my family would take that 45 min to Charleston to eat, and have fun.
What about Poogan’s Porch for dining or 82 Queen for exquisite dinners? Yes, Charleston is a smorgasbord for food, sights, shopping with friendly people and the best manners.
I just returned from a trip to Charleston. Carolina Polo and Carriage CO was the horse carriage tour we took. Dave was an awesome guide. Henry's also has rooftop dining i just had beer so no comment on the food. The provost building and dungeon is a fun tour I recommend it our guide was great. We stayed in Mount Pleasant it was beautiful and real easy to get to Charleston. Patriots point is amazing and the boat to fort Sumter [also great] can be a combined ticket. This will take all day to tour the carrier fort Sumter and the awesome destroyer US Laffey. Laffey is incredible and has a great story with short videos. Vickery's is a great restaurant/bar. The griffon and Mac's and Tommy Condon"s in Charleston were excellent places for a beer and some tasty chow. The Angel Oak is a beauty. 4 days was not enough to see all Charleston had to offer. If your a fan of history this is a good place to visit.
I am American trying to move from Germany in Europe to Charleston to attend the college of charleston but Jesus Christ the rent there is insane and its hard to find a place also.
You have to rent from outside of Charleston. It's my hometown and I can't afford to live there on Social Security that's why I live in Baton Rouge,Louisiana. When they made I - 525 they took out all the trailer parks and affordable apartments and houses. They took away Charleston's beauty and friendlyness.
Good video and coverage of Charleston and the surrounding area. I have only one comment, however. Kiawah Island is pronounced Kee' - a - wah. It is an old indian name from the Indians that used to live there.
I’ve been to Charleston several times and love it every time! But next time you head north you should do a video for Hilton Head Island and Beaufort/Port Royal

I traded it in for a Ram 1500 because with the gas situation wanted a Diesel. Other than that, I loved the Yukon, but also very happy with the Ram now, I get 8-10 more mpg.
The Charleston City Market was originally a slave market, but this wasn't said in this presentation. I'm a Charleston resident and I was born and grew up here.
We didn't really film much of it so didn't want to take too much time there, its covered in alot of other videos. People call it a "Slave Market" however it was never used to sell slaves. Feed Blacks as well as slaves did work there, which is why it was given that name, and so people have wrongly believed that slaves where sold there which wasn't true.
