Just buy an ipad brick and call it a day, wireless charging has never been appealing as you have take your phone off to use it. Regardless if its magnetic. I think since it chargers faster thats good. I wont being using the feature. I have usb c to lighting cables already just to use my iphone on my macbook. & just use the charger from macbook to charger my iphone sometimes. So I dont really care. It just gives you so much more charging options, but also means you can easily bring the wrong cord and brick in your bag. But then you can use android chargers from friends!
I have a wireless charger that only charges my iPhone at 5 watts and I still use it just so I don’t have to plug it in. I’m going to like this as the charger is on my bed anyways.

@@krishnegowdaa.h2271 yep, if they were really wanting to make a claim about the environment they would've shipped a lightning to USB A cable with the iPhone 12 so everyone with a prior iPhone (or almost any other phone) could reuse their charging bricks. Apple providing a lightning to USB C means the vast majority of people don't have a charging brick that works with it and then have to buy one from Apple anyway. And then you have the environmental impact of two boxes and packaging materials for something that everyone needs anyway now.
It's not about the environment, it's about the bottom line. And the fact that a wireless charger doesn't even have the brick is proof of that.

My major concern is the magsafe cable. Its is not reinforced by nylon or some sort. Based on experience the apple white thin cable usually don’t last long against bending movement

They gon remove the charging port, makes it more water resistant. Also it’s a cable/wireless charger hybrid. You can lay it on the surface and charge without plugging into the charging port or u can magnetically connect it and use it normally.
Leaving your phone on a wireless charger overnight wont degrade your battery as much as leaving it plugged in overnight
You have to fiddle more to plug a cable in. Do it at night in the dark and you'll see (or not) what I mean ;p

not sure what you're trying to say, this is one of the best wireless chargers out there today, simply because you can use the phone whilst wirelessly charging. Which also frees up the port for whatever you may want to plug in. And it's still optional, you can use a cable if you prefer.

My concern would be the cable breaking up near the MagSafe. Nearly nobody would take it off by holding the metal part. Everyone would be pulling on the cable instead. I'll be waiting for Anker's or Belkin's products to this. I love your reviews. They help safe a bunch of money.

Most chargers you buy regularly don’t come with an ac adapter.
They sell a usb-c charging brick with a cable at Walmart for like $10. It’s not 20w it’s 18w. I did that when I got my 11.
And they sell it with a usb C, ( there are very few people have power bricks with USB c lying around, so that means you can't use the cord either.
I’ve bought dozens of wireless chargers from different brands to place at home and in the office. Guess what, non of them comes with a power brick.

@Budo Bašović Wireless charger outputs 15W, works with 20W power brick. Worst case, 25% losses (but possibly less). The whole point of the magnets is ideal coil alignment for max charging efficiency. But don’t let logic and facts stop you, bud, your comment was excellent!

I haven’t seen anyone mention this specifically, but another reason this is handy is that you can turn the charger 90 degrees from where it would normally sit and play games while the iPhone is in landscape orientation without the cord being in the way of your hands.

I don't see the point of wireless chargers in general. It is basically sticking the phone on the charger instead of plugging it in? What's the point? Instead, the charging speed becomes too slow.

The magsafe charger is nice, because the thing is stuck to your phone and the cables wont get in your way while you're gaming.
@Julien Lindauer just use bluetooth headphones -.-, remember the times when iphones had a minijack output and a charging port? This was always possible since the first iphone i think. They are just creating problems and therefore "new technology" to offer a solutions to this self created problem.

R.i.p Steve honestly...pretty sure the last phone he worked on was the 4s and I used the F out of that phone from 2012 all the way until 2018....that's 6 years never had to do any repairs, I've never owned an iPhone since, went to Huawei and quickly to sammysung now I have a note 20. Man I miss when Apple products where cool, now they are just mid-highend tech that is always 2nd compared to the competition and is aimed at people to lazy to do real research , gone are the days of apples innovation again. The bring back of the squared edges of the 4 and 5 are the entire and only reason I’m (for the first time) upgrading the the newest iPhone. It’s new phone time for me and any other time I’d settle for the cheaper year earlier model.

The wired "wireless" charger
Most if not all wireless chargers have wires in them & attached to them, so these kinds of comments are stating the obvious lol
The only wireless chargers that aren’t „wired“ are powerbooks with qi charging and those you also need to charge or „wire up“ often
Every other wireless charger has to be wired to some kind of power source so your comment and all like it are really just stating the obvious and irrelevant in a failed attempt to hate at Apple for making what everyone else had made already: a wireless charger
Crantox sticking via magnets isn’t really any less “wireless”. When the charging is occurring, all those chargers are connected with wires and the phone must be in contact.

I could see this being functional and I am going to buy one for the simple fact I have kids and animals and they are always ripping my charger out of my charging port of my phone so this would be very useful so you don’t ever have to worry about ripping your charging port out and having no way to charge your phone and I actually like that the charger stays on the phone so you don’t have to leave your phone just laying there charging especially if you’re like me and you’re on your phone while it’s charging. So I personally actually really like the idea of the MagSafe charger
Apple: we need to save the planet from transport pollution so we give you an iPhone with only a charger but that has Lightning to USB-C which requires a USB-C block you probably don’t have.
Me: still has to order a USB-C compatible block, 250$ earbuds, an iPhone case, and maybe a wireless charger.

@@beckross5186 I love how this argument doesn't account for the fact apple just changed from type a to type c to proprietary plug, yet pretty much every android is type a to type c or type c to type c so you're 100% more likely to have the correct charger with Samsung even if you're switching from apple cause their ipads and macs have type c as well but not the iphone
It’s a cool concept for me. I love listening to music through my Sony earphones. Using Magsafe will allow me to charge it and then listening to music at the same time. 😁🤪

It does not "just work". In fact, it doesn't work at all. Not out of the box...
Unless you somehow have a USB-C Apple wall plug. Which I'm willing to bet you don't. No, you have a USB-A wall plug that came with your last iPhone or iPad. That won't work here.
So in effect, for $40, you're getting HALF of what you need to charge your new iPhone 12. You'll need to shell out another $19.99 to buy the Apple 20W USB-C wall adapter to pair with the Apple Magsafe Charger. Why? Because the new iPhones don't come with any wall plugs either, so you can't get one that way.

Sure, there is a small print at the very bottom of the "features" stating "20W USB-C Power Adapter sold separately." But that doesn't really register until you receive the Magsafe Adapter and wonder how you're supposed to plug the bloody thing into the wall to start using it.
I'm usually on Apple's side for many of their decisions. But this move to not include wall adapters with their new electronics is pretty absurd and definitely not motivated by eco-consciousness, no matter how they try to spin this extra mini money-grab. If they're making a whole bunch of separate adapters with separate packaging for people to buy because their new phones and accessories don't come with them, how is that saving the environment? Think about it.
I'm sending this crap back and will be buying the 20W USB-C Power Adapter to work with the cord included with the new iPhone. Apple is grabbing an extra $20 from me. But at least it's not an extra $60.
At this rate, the oft-rumored upcoming Apple Car won't be coming with wheels.
