I am currently a finance professional with 8 years of working experience in SAP accounts payables. If I do SAP Fico course will it add advantage to my existing experience ?
In SAP fresher level jobs most of the people face very less transparency. They are pretty much confused about their career growth. To be honest many service based companies don't even ask for opinion and directly merge someone into SAP though he/she is trained in JAVA/... background. Therefore people feel it like scam (honestly). So it will be very helpful if you put some light on detailed scope of SAP. As you said there are few companies that users SAP s/w, then make detailed video on- Q.1 what are the different Service based, Startups, Product based companies uses SAP in detail ? Q2. what is their salary expectations in detail ? Q3. Most importantly, if someone started his/her career with SAP (though they didn't choose it by himself/herself) what is the most closest technology (better) they can choose to switch (different field) and exactly how to do that? It's very very important for them who are not really enjoying it and rather want to do anything else technical staff. I think if you answer these people will be having more clarifications. Thank You.
I will try to be as honest as possible A1. SAP is a very costly solution to implement and maintain, hence we as consultants usually don’t generally expect startup’s to use SAP. For service based and product based companies it depends what kind of business are they in. According to their business requirement, they select the appropriate module for their needs. But roughly speaking 80% of Fortune 500 companies uses some module of SAP. Companies like apple, google microsoft are also among them. Almost all service based companies too uses SAP. But as SAP is a consulting job, therefore don’t classify your target company on basis of service/product and startup. Go for the company which has a good SAP consulting practice factory/capability. Companies like Deloitte and Accenture are good examples of such capabilities. A2. It’s indeed true that getting SAP consulting job is very difficult for fresher especially functional roles. You can still expect some technical roles for fresher. Also entry level salary are very low. Usually starts from 2 LPA in small companies up to 8 LPA in Deloitte for absolute fresher. But I have seen that SAP has good compounding effect. I say this because of 3 reasons 1. Annual hikes are usually way more than any other IT career. I have seen hikes like 44% and 33% that too in a so called service based company. 2. On-site opportunities are way more than any other it career. Until recently about 40% of my colleagues were on site in Germany. 3. If you are especially a functional consultant you will probably get maximum visibility from client. I don’t think any other role will give you that. More visibility simply means more opportunities and money. In general salary are just a function of demand and supply + skill + luck. There are some crazy paid niche and hot modules (similar to SDE salaries ) as well as saturated low paying modules. Continues upskilling is the only way to earn top dollar just like any other IT career. A3. Depends of your module and current skill set. In general if you are from functional background then business analysis is a good alternative and if you are ABAPer then full stack as SAP has also started using Javascript HTML and CSS
I hv seen consultant, having poor (communication skills, non IT, mediocre business knowledge), got in mnc (eg Accenture, Infy etc). How are these level of skills contribute for being successful consultant in future? Or are these mns hv huge demand so they are compromising on required skills?
