@@zm8w88 Often, Hopsin is corny. It’s not that creative and/or unique. I’ve enjoyed Hopsin’s music at times. But, it’s very hit or miss. There is no such thing as thug rap, and it has nothing to do with Hopsin either way. He’s good enough, but he’s nothing special. It is what it is. If anything, he’s exactly where he should be… neither overrated nor underrated, and he’s done very well for himself. 🤷🏾♂️

being corny is definitely the main critique Hopsin gets and its for a reason but I still find a lot of what he does quite enjoyable. definitely check out more of his stuff, ill mind 7, ill mind 4 and i need help to name some :)

I guess when he started putting on voices, or starts getting "too emotional" with the song. They said the same thing when he started yelling in IM7. They said the song was good, but Hopsin has a habit of "putting his heart on his sleeve." and letting his emotions get into the song.
Which is understandable, in most cases. I didn't like IM7 at first because of that. But hear it enough times, you'll get used to it. But hearing it for the first time some get uncomfortable, or feel awkward when he starts.
There was another point (I think in ill mind 3 or 4) when he does a LOT of alternate voices (especially females) and it sounds weird. especially of how long he does it at certain points.

This was the song that made me turn my life around, i was going nowhere and doing stupid stuff while wasting my life partying and my friend showed this to me and something just hit me and i think it was Hopsin and the way he delivers the lyrics, it hit familiar territory.

Hop has always had some cringey and cheesy moments but they help accentuate his more serious and impactful lines.

Being corny is a valid critique Hopsin deserves. However, what he’s talking about in his first verse is on point. The reason why you two went to the club and found an oddity within the vibe is because of the reasons addressed within the first verse.

Hopsin is one of the only decent US current rappers, underrated because he isn't exactly the same as all the unintelligent trap rappers who don't tell stories with their bars. Yes, maybe he takes a lot of influences from Eminem but compared to all the mumbletrap he is a 10/10
This is a REAL HIP HOP channel. Mumble rap (although we enjoy some songs) isn't relevant to the MC conversation. Compare Hopsin to REAL spittas! J Cole, Kendrick, Locksmith, Mick Jenkins, Oswin Benjamin, Lil D, Logic, Nick Grant, Nas, Black Thought, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco Jay etc. He is AVERAGE compared to MC's who stay true to the art and are focus on crafting incredible music with SKILL. He's not bad (although he is corny) but his fans are delusional if they think he is an ELITE lyricist/rapper.
