Lets talk about the different models and sizes that are offered by Kamado Joe, and what sets Kamado Joe aport from its competitors. Most people are already very familiar with some of the cool features that set this grill apart. First is, one of the best upgrades this smoker gets over the big green egg, is going to be the spring assisted hood. Ceramic Grills are traditionally very heavy, and so is this grill. It can be tough to be lifting the heavy lid all the time, so its a nice little feature that is offered. Also kamado offers a different chimney system that doesn’t move when you lift the lid, I know this sounds like a small thing but its pretty annoying when you have to constantly readjust your draft all the time. So It is for sure a big plus. Also you get a thick restaurant grade material on the grill itself which helps you get a nice tight seal on everything.
Lets talk about models and sizes now. The smallest in the series is the Joe Junior or the JR. There really isn’t much options with this guy, it comes as one size, and just the standard not a lot of bells and whistles to it.
Then you have the Joe Classic, this is a standard 18” diameter cooking space as well. It can be ordered as the Joe II or the Joe III. The Joe II comes with everything we mentioned above, comes with a standard stand as well, a Bunch of cooking accessories, so its a great all I one package!
When you upgrade to the big Joe III however. In my opinion this is when this grill really starts to separate itself from the completion, where big green egg, primo, and any other kamado cooker just can’t keep up
The III style or upgrade is a lot deeper of a grill, and this extra depth allows us to do a lot of fun things here. One, by having this depth we can cook at different levels, which means we can sear if we want super low, on high heat, or cook near the top of the lid if you want to smoke your meat. Kamado Joe calls this thing the sloroller hyperbolic smoke chamber. This is supposed to create a ton more smoke for a full smoke flavor. Now you know I am going to have to put this to the test and see just how well it actually works.
So that’s it, that’s the product line in a nutshell. Personally I think its just like a ll the competitors and im not particularly excited about it, until we get to the III series, that is when this grill really starts to set itself apart from the competition.
Dont forget if your in the Denver Colorado area, come see these products in person.

This is so helpful. Keep up the good work.
no
Great video - very useful in making a choice across the range.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching
Thank you for your time on this.
My pleasure!
Thanks for the info.. very helpful for people like me on the fence on which model to get
we have all in stock right now!
@@embersliving okay.. I need it. Are you guys open with this Covid 19 stuff?
@@embersliving How should I go about making placing my order? I actually just cancelled my order with BBQguys.com cause they said they're 4 weeks out on shipping.. I want the Classic Joe III
I'm in DTC and would like to pick it up this week.
I have the Classic 2 and added a slow roller. Good for me to use.
thanks for the feedback
thanks for the great and informative video
Thanks for watching stay tuned for more!
Jeeze that big joe 3 is huge!! It would look great in my backyard!!
ha it really is a big grill
Is the 24” big one available without the stand for use in a built in outdoor kitchen?
its coming but not here yet. its only $100 cheaper or so. you can always buy this one and just not use the stand. I think it will be awhile before we see the stand alone
How resistant to weather are these? For example, if I had one on the back of my sailing yacht (even freshwater washed and covered)?
hmm that is a good question, they are ceramic. So they should hold up very well
@@embersliving Yes, I believe all the ceramic components would hold up well. But, what about everything else? Would you please be kind enough to put this question to your viewers?
yeah ... I think I need one of these
Yeah you better
Thanks for the really informative video. I am looking at upgrading my Weber master touch 57cm. Would you recommend the classic Joe 3 or big joe 3 in terms of similar size
I would go big Joe myself
Can you get the big Joe 3 without the cart? Looking to add to built in kitchen.
Yes we have them
Looking forward to the video of the K.J. vs Traeger
its posted!
Does the upgraded top on the classic also fit on the junior?
I just checked ours. Its too small, so they aren't interchangeable. Make sure to subscribe!
@@embersliving thanks! Will do. I honestly can't decide between the Napoleon rogue SE 425 (£1200) and the Kamado classic (with the upgraded Kamado control centre accessory and charcoal basket add-ons and extra grates - £1200). Tough times!
what is the grill.size inn.inch from.kamado joe 3.

thanks for the feedback
It’s a classic II. The classic 1 does not have the wire mesh gasket, and maybe not the control tower. It’s cheaper and might not be sold through dealers any more. Lowes has them.
thanks for the feedback
I really don't know if the Classic 3 is worth the price tag over the Classic 2. Talked to a Rep even he was not convince on the roller smoker for the price increase..... and he has the 3. But, overall KJ all day over BGE for the value and accessiories out the box.
hard to argue that!
I'll test the big joe 3 out for just send one my way!
hahah im on it
Do they make a stand alone model in the big joe 3? Want to add to my outdoor kitchen.
H Silva yeah we are taking orders on them now. They are out like 3-4 weeks
@@embersliving whats going to be the price?
H Silva it’s $200 cheaper then the cart model
@@embersliving awesome thank you
@@embersliving and if u offer free shipping I will be buying from you guys since u guys are the only ones that have responded to my questions! Customer service is very important to me.
I had seen one that is 24 inch? Which one is that one? That 18 inch looks like the 24 but he said 18. And it’s huge. The 24 is also huge but didn’t look as big as the 3 to me.
I may of misspoke the one on the left is the 24"
Embers Fireplaces & Outdoor Living you mean on your left? Right? Because on my left I see the 30
😆
What I like the most about Kamado Joe is their crucible. It won't crack like (literally) every other brand (except for Saffire; they have a neat crucible). I can't justify the price difference between the KJ II and III, however. That sloroller only increases smoking by 20% (as mentioned in one of their videos). 20% extra smoke isn't worth the price increase in my opinion.
good point. However it can be depending on what your cooking
The video I watched said up to 20 times more smoke.... not 20% more. I double checked it.
If you want to try, or want portability go Jr. Otherwise buy the BigJoe. There are only 2 of us but I've never regretted it. I can make it as small as I like, but you can't make the smaller ones bigger.
Good feedback
Nice video.
In case it helps a bit, and to avoid confusion...
There are three different size KJs. Small (Joe Jr), medium (Joe Classic) and large (Big Joe).
In the video you show the Classic 2 and compare to the Big Joe 3.
The Classic also comes in a Classic 3 and this includes all the great features you mentioned on the Bjg Joe 3 in the video. It has the coal basket, better cart, metal side shelves, the “smoker” accessory (slow roller).
So you don’t have to get the Big Joe to get these great features, you can get the Classic 3.
So really if choosing between the Big Joe 3 and the Classic 3 the only difference to need to think about is size and price!
Personally I bought the classic 3 last spring and love it!
This spring I added the Joe Jr to my collection (gets high heat quicker so is great for small high heat cooks).
Now, of course, I’m wishing I owned the Big Joe too for bigger cooks!!!
Anyway, nice video - just wanted to help people understand the difference between the Classic and the Big Joe is only size and price if you compare version 3 in both sizes.
Love that KJ comes with everything you need. I’d really suggest adding one purchase - the purpose built rotisserie!!
thanks for the clarification!
I need Kamado Joe Classic. Still hesitating between Classic 2 and 3. But only because of weight difference (188 lbs vs 262lbs?). Classic 3 seems massive (by tech spec).
same diameter just a taller and deeper smoker.
I love these. The color makes it really hard for me to sell in to my wife tho :(
I hear you there!
what about series 2?
we are waiting on them
Do you have them In stock
some but not everything
Embers Fireplaces & Outdoor Living big joe looking for the big joe so I can order
Why don't they make these in 22 inch?
great question, I wish they did the big Joe is almost too big
Great video. You do not smoke tri tip
Don't you deliver it to Korea??
No sorry Jh
why do you keep calling the 18 the classic? It's a Classic 2 and the new model is Classic 3... Might confuse people
I know. It’s hard I do these in one take and there are always things I wish I did different
@@embersliving doing a good job though, this is a good video and very smart to be doing for your business especially during covid.
I like this person. it is a good thing for this neighborhood to have this kind of local supplier/retailer. backbone of the community.
thanks so much!
Air assisted hood
thanks!
Can you do a pro doe vid ?
What is the difference with pro vs big joe 3?
the pro is discontinued now
The SNS kamado looks like the most bang for the buck- thoughts?
we gotta do a video
“Get that in the description in the link below” 😆
Great video mate! Would you say the Joe Jr is good enough for a family of 4, interested in cooking primarily chicken, sea food, and turkey?
I think its possible but it will be tight. The Classic would be a safer size choice
I didn’t mean all at the same time.. I thought the Jr. could easily cook a meal for a family of four?
For how many persons is classic and for how many persons is big Joe?
I still dont know....what too buy...classic 2 or classic 3...in price is 500€ diference....
I’m a fan of the 3, but you can’t beat the value of the classic 3
2 I meab
Why is the title "What SIZE model should I get?" There really is very little discussion about helping one decide the appropriate size for their needs. Otherwise, good overview. Thanks
sorry about that, I would say anything more then 4 people we recommend the big Joe
@@embersliving very helpful, Thank you🙏
But this is not the full range. What about Pro Joe?
Pro joe is discontinued
@@embersliving wow did not know that. I was looking to buy one soon but if I am to struggle to get replacement parts or accessories in the future then I won't now. Thanks for the reply 👍
This video is titled “what size should I get” but you barely spent any time on the sizes and what they mean in practice for what you can cook with the surface area and multi level cooking space. You spent most of the time talking about their non-size-related features, like the Series II vs Series III stuff.
Whoops sorry! Thanks for watching.
Obsecene price 🤬
they are expensive
Laughs in Green Egg
Anything of quality is not cheap
Why do not talk prices? I wouldn't buy from you if I entered your store because you stay away from price, like it's taboo, ie., we can't talk salary in an interview. Well, what do you think I'm here for, your protocols leaving me in question as to whether you can afford me or vice-versa?" This was not a fun video (as you said it would be). A customer purchases based on budget, large or small BBQ needs (amount of food), common fire-up costs (briquettes), and performance based on specific features meeting limited needs. According to your deliver, bigger is better. Sheeez! Show me the door.
Richard Kim Greene we include links to our website which displays all our pricing. We don’t talk price cause next year when the price changes it won’t be accurate. So it makes sense right? We are extremely transparent with our pricing
@@embersliving lame excuse.
If you have to ask, you can’t afford it!
You really get tired just by talking.
Respiratory problems ?!
ha its the settings on my mic, im not tired
@@embersliving
How is gasping a lot, a setting on your mic ?! :))
I can tell because I have difficulties air intact using my nose and I gasp a lot because of that :)).
Anyway, cheers.
I do not have any respitorial problems, but I can tell you for sure that you should do a checkup, not good.
Really boring
Ok
