Such a positive track in these times of rising nationalism and hate crimes. Howard had understood something back in the 80'ies let's get back to those positive vibes and find each other again.
I completely agree with you hhgtipower -- I love this song and Howard Jones. I want the 80's back too! In my humble opinion, there's just no other decade that produced so much great music from so many different artists!! 5 stars! --Kim
I was 16 in 1981, the 80's was so awesome, I would give anything to be able to go back, soooo many good memories Howard Jones & nick kershaw were at the top of their career, I'm just glad I was part of this decade, the kids of today have no idea what awesome music is.....
I turned 16 in 1981, too. My friends group then couldn't understand why I enjoyed Howard Jones, Thomson Twins, Sisters Of Mercy.... they just didn't get it. Still so good to listen to 🥰
This guy, this guy, I tell ya, he was profound with his music, not only musically, but lyrically as well. Amazing man. I cannot express how much his music means to me. Love you, Howard!!! Thank you!!!
Takes me right back to when i was 7 ish,26 years ago,oh the memories great time of my life & great song too,the 80's were head & shoulders above the rest.
I love this tune man,I remember when it was released, Way ahead of its time,We need these lyrics in music today,It fucking brings people together,Peace,Love and unity,Regardless of colour,Creed,Status,Look at the mess the world is in,"Such a glow inside,We should be feelin" What more do we need,Sending love and positive vibes to the world :)
anglofrançaise Yvonne You have a cool attitude,I like you're no nonsense stance on your "about" description of the music experience on here,No arguing, Enjoy the music, Good stuff man,Take it easy :)
This one is permanently linked to one of John Cusack's early hits, Better off Dead. Good story, funny as hell, and the scene that had this one as an aural backdrop was a good one, bringing a '67 Camaro back from the dead
***** Almost as funny as the one where Lane's in his Mum's station wagon and he has a drag. "Ricky are you dead? Monique, I'm sorry." (She's actually laughing)"I'm telling my Mom!" Says Ricky
The 80s were the best! Even kids of today hear 80s music and want more - they love it. It's like the 80s are to the 2012 era what the 60s were to the 80s. And if that doesn't make sense, heck, I was born in the 70s! XP
What music we had back then , This song is banging ,love it . The eighties what a time ,just look at what kids have got to listen to today, ...PURE CRAP. !!!
Ahh yes...the 1980's! So many hits for Howard Jones!! ! loved all the 80's! From Pat Benatar to Simple Minds! Howard Jones to Motley Crue! Van Halen, Heart, Def Leppard, Tears For Fears, Poison, The Cure, etc, etc. ALL OF IT!!! It was indeed a great time with great music! Best time of my life!!!
This dude had some of the best, melodic "bridges" in all of 80s music. The bridge in this song is good enough to be the chorus itself. Also the the bridge in "Things Can Only Get Better" is powerful sounding too! In fact both, songs' bridges were sampled into house tracks by Mohito & Eric Prydz respectively.
Andy Jones Bless you !!! you have style . Seems like only yesterday when I was just a school girl loving this tune and all the other early 80s hits , If only we could go back in time.
send shivers down my spine listing to this i was 1 when released in 1984 wish i was 25 at 1984 to listen to it bak then love 80s music today music is utter bullcrap !!!!!!
I had a shirt just like the one Howard was wearing Brilliant!! Brings back such brilliant memories! Thank you all the people who make this medium a pleasure to be connected with!! Ripper x
I absolutely love this song! I remember back in the day when I first heard this song on the movie "better off dead". I love the chorus especially! it just makes you feel good
I had to pinch myself the other day that I am now 41! - I certainly don't look it or even feel it, yet the true beauty of this song, was that it was made in an era when the notion of multiculturalism was so very different in the 1980's. He was such a gifted singer-song-writer!
everyones entitled to their opinions...i think racism was much worse in the 80s...white people werent supposed to listen to rap music....im more of a humanist and treat everyone equally...im looking out for myself...this song though....timeless...classic....

I was born in 83. Living in Atlantic city this played all over the boardwalk on the radio in the late eighties. Seems like a time caught in imagination and discovery. Difficult and simplistic.
I saw Howard Jones at the o2 Indigo a few years ago. Still awesome. If you get the chance please go to see him. Pure class. Long live Howard and the 1980s! ✌️ 🙏 💕 😊

AdamG1983 Yeah love the Synthpop/New Wave sound many of the 80s artists incorporated in the music. The music isn't the same anymore. What is Love is another brilliant song by Howard!

A reason I love this video so much is that he uses so many synaesthetic elements, which resonate with the way I see colors and shapes when I listen to music. Synaesthete himself or not, he gets it.
What would we do without U-tube.Bringing back all the wonderfull music and memories that we had in the eighties.
80-s music is a medicine for the soul..
This song will always be fused to "Better Off Dead" in my memory. One of John Cusack's earliest and best movies
Thank you Jesus for making me a Teen in the 80's Amen!!!
It's my favorite song from Better Off Dead, which also happens to be my favorite John Cusak movie! :) All these years later and I STILL

Howard is a man before his time, his music was and still is beautiful.
Yeah like The Thompson Twins. They were Brilliant too! 😎
Howard is wonderful Live saw him at my local theatre one night of music and got to meet him! He was Awesome!
He was a pop icon for sure back then , definitely ahead of his time.
This guy was amazing, he was the epicenter of british pop in the 80's, but he had such a mix of raggae, soul, blues-you name it, and it was CLASSIC!
I was 16 in 1981, the 80's was so awesome, I would give anything to be able to go back, soooo many good memories Howard Jones & nick kershaw were at the top of their career, I'm just glad I was part of this decade, the kids of today have no idea what awesome music is.....

I just saw him live and when he did this song, it sounded just beautiful with his cool set. Gave me the chills. Loved the 80s!
He and Tom Bailey from The Thompson Twins seem to have a lot of parallels sound & time wise
heard this on the radio today and remembered it well from years back, reminded me of good young days
I never knew there was a video this song. The 80s was like living in the future . The music was so ahead of its time.
there also is an original 1984 clip for this, when the track was first released
But with hope. This era has no hope and music is garbage.

Can not beat the music of the eighties
There's still some great music today, the problem is that we Americans have completely lost our good taste in mainstream music.

Yeah, I hate PC (Paraguayan cocaine) too.
This song was cretaed using pc program, mixer, live instrument, midi file, keyboard, floppy disk, and software.
no PC? are you insane? not just PC but FCC regulated to death.
back in the day, we called PC good manners. that's what has you confused.
Between this song, "Life in One Day," and "Things Can Only Get Better," HoJo is great a putting me in a good mood.

I guess I carry the 80's with me. I was named after better off dead. Born back in 2004. Holding my name with pride!

One thing about Howard Jones' songs, they always have a positive message in them. We need more songs like that in our lives.
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together, together
Together we can cast away the fear
Together we can wipe away the tear
Together we can strip down the barriers
And be one
Don't wanna talk about the weather
Don't wanna talk about the news
Just wanna get to the real you inside
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together, together
And don't you think
Now is time we should be feelin'
Just wanna simply say
Won't let you slip away
People wanna talk about the future
Don't wanna linger on the past
Just wanna reach to the real you inside
Forget cold glances and rejections
Leave the things that separate
Build on a trust that we must stand on
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together, together
You finding all are insecure
Opening the same door
Leaving out a stubborn pride
Seeing from another side
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
Like to get to know you well
So we can be one, we can be one together
