If the third guy behind Jason isn't playing through an amp that's miced up, he is going direct into the recording console so they could get a good clear and solid rhythm guitar track for this video. It's basically so the band can get that on stage sound they are used to for the performance, but they also get that extra guitar via electronic signal to blend with the mix. And why do this you ask? You would do this if the performance is going to be aired live and the engineer only has one shot to get what he needs.
the real reason is cuz load in/out is so damn quick that there's no time to set up 90% of their rigs. i would expect IF there was no pre-recorded tracks, that mostly all the signals go direct into their wireless receivers, and then immediately into a computer for the sound engineers to emulate sound, and send the signal to a FOH engineer to live mix and EQ out. RHCP did something similar when they played the super bowl half time show a few years back for the exact same reasons.
