You guys will have a much different experience, I think, being in a sweet level room You’ll get room service twice a day like you do on Disney, and you’ll have elevated food with the coastal kitchen
I haven't done DCL. We aren't into the characters and feel like we would not "get" the theming as a consequence. Is that your opinion? Also our son is 15, which I think is past the window to be enthralled by the characters. With that said, we chose HAL over RCCL in AK, because we found the the non-ship to be better - better births, more time in most ports, later entrance into Glacier Bay, Glacier Bay instead of Dawes or Sawyer Glaciers, Vancouver round trip instead of Seattle (As you said, its what you value) We've done RCCL in the Caribbean.
Our experience (we love Disney, but we don’t do character meet and greets) is that we just love the finishes of the ship, the elegance and charm, the larger staterooms, and the excellent service. We just feel it is all elevated.
Also we have a 15 year old son, he does like Disney, and we feared it would grow old- but after doing RCCL, he still prefers DCL because of the service level.
I agree that overall Disney wins. It’s more than just free soda. We did buy the soda package though but it was always out of soda or it was flat. A lot of money for something that was always out. RC The ship definitely didn’t smell clean and the men’s bathroom weren’t clean and always had a bad smell when I walked in.
Yes!! We agree with all of that. DCL just has that “thing” and it’s not worth the minimal savings we had on RC when it was all said and done. When we went on Odyssey of The Seas in March and compared apples to apples and ate in the MDR it was non comparable. Even paying for the unlimited dining package made it just the same as eating in the MDR for DC- Disney wins in our opinion’s
@@TravelingTrio we are planning a Disney cruise soon to take our kids on. We want them to experience the magic that Disney has to offer. It is so special. Like you said the little extra money is worth it ! Great video! Going to watch more of your stuff !
We are going to Alaska later this month. I booked it on opening day. We’ve only sailed with Disney and I will admit that I did look at RCL since Alaska is so much more expensive than the Caribbean. My wife saw me on the RCL website and said “You like Disney. We like Disney. You’ll know you’ll regret this.” She anchored (pun intended) me back to the ground.
We just sailed out of Fort Lauderdale last week and there was no time for us to wait…they were boarding groups 1 to 18 while we were still waiting in line to check in..lol.. we were group 11 and got there a little before our PAT so I wonder if Fort Lauderdale is doing things a little different from Port Canaveral?!
That makes sense, after they’ve already called so many groups the wait time goes way down. If you are an earlier PAT, and you get to the terminal on time you’ll wait a bit.
Yeah we were just surprised at how fast it was moving and it wasn’t even 12noon.. I guess after everything we’ve heard we just expected a longer wait and was pleasantly surprised ☺️
We are huge disney fans. Go yearly. We did Quantum to Alaska last year. Didn't enjoy it. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to try DCL. The food was a big downfall for us. Didn't like it, and like you said, coordinating times was difficult, it seemed. We also felt board in sea days. There's not much entertainment for the kids. Would you try DCL if you were us? Which ship.
Oh my gosh, yes! I would try it. We just tried Odyssey of the seas to give it one last chance and we definitely did not like it again and we cannot wait to go on our Disney cruise in November.!! How old are your kids? @heatherweaver2641
I just got off Quantum to Alaska my wife and I were not impressed at all. We didn’t enjoy it. I regret not going on DCL again. We will never go on another RC again. We are already talking about planning another one so my daughter can experience Disney
DCL smells amazing! Also the staterooms; service, products, layout…. And OMG those beds! Also nothing compares to concierge on DCL
Yessss! Nothing compares! That ship smell! The beds! Love all of it! What do you think the smell is!?
Helpful video! Thanks for the comparison. Looking forward to what you think of Odyssey!

Not all cruise ships on RC have the activities that the Quantum have, gotta note that
